"There Is A File Or Folder On Your Computer Called 'C:Program'"

May 22, 2012

So I just received a computer I purchased from CyberPower Inc. and set everything up; so far things have gone smoothly except for the following: When I first booted the computer up, and every subsequent startup, I receive the following error message on the homescreen, "There is a file or folder on your computer called 'C:Program' which could cause certain applications to not function correctly. Renaming it to 'C:Program1' would solve this problem. Would you like to rename it now?" If I opt to rename it, then the next startup the message appears again but this time wants me to rename it to "C:Program2". It does seemt to be causing some problems for the way internet explorer functions. I haven't finished setting up the computer/restoring my backups or anything because I don't want to go through that entire process if I am going to need to find the windows installation CD that came with the computer, reinstall the OS, etc.

Installed A Driver Called AmdEHCI Now HDMI Port's Audio Is Failing?

May 4, 2012

So I was having some audio problems with my computer so I figured updating the drivers would be the best bet. I decided I'd use one of those programs that can check your driver and download the driver you need. I followed the instructions and installed what seems to be called AmdEHCI onto my computer. Now whenever I turn on my HDTV which I have connected via the HDMI on my ATI Raedon 6950 the audio claims that it is not connected. Now every time I want audio to come out of my HDMI I have to disable to display and then re-enable it. I used to be able to turn my TV on and off whenever I wanted and I would still have audio functioning properly.Something that caught my attention was that when I left the properties window opened for the HDMI audio and then turned on my TV I would get a message that says "The device you are configuring has been removed." even though I haven't touched anything other than the power button on my TV to turn it on.

Schtasks Called From Batch Not Recognized

Sep 6, 2012

I have a batchfile that ftp's several other batch files to a computer, then calls one of them which schedules the rest. The scheduler batch file uses the schtasks command. When i run the first batch file, it pulls the files fine but twhen it calls the scheduler, i get the error "'schtasks' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file." However I know that the command is installed on the computer because i can type in 'schtasks' and i get all the current scheduled tasks' information. I can also manually run the second scheduler batch file and it runs. It only fails when the first batch file calls it. The calling statement at the very end of the first batch file is "call C:atchfilesscheduler.bat". The scheduler is only four schtasks commands on four lines. Can you help me figure out why the commands fail when called from the first batch file.

Process Called System Idle Overloads CPU

Jun 18, 2012

Today I've turned computer on, and when Windows loaded, I saw that CPU load of my computer is 25-35 % and is caused by "System Idle process". Ok, I know that this process works when computer does nothing, but I've noticed one important thing - until this process wasn't working on my laptop, PC was working on batteries up to 5 hours, now, when this in normal process is working, time on batteries is 2h 50 min (max)... How I can turn off that process? I've already reinstalled Windows, only because of that problem, and I was happy only 3 days, today, this process returned. I use Russian version of Windows. I also uploaded two screenshots, where you can see that "system idle process", I've marked it (Screenshot nr.2) [URL].

System:
Acer 5750G
I5-2430M 2.4Ghz
8Gb DDR3 1333Mhz

Difference Between File Repository And Actual Driver Folder?

May 31, 2012

I was trying to uninstall a print driver for a network printer for one of my users (Windows 7), and I ran into that issue where it tells you that it can't remove the drivers because they are still in use (this after stopped and restarting the spooler, rebooting, etc.). So I was looking at the "File Repository" for this print driver (C:WindowsSystem32DriverStoreFileRepositoryhpcu115u.inf_amd64_neutral_4a9d334b04ff58b2), and it has the same files as another folder that is pointed to under the "Driver" tab in the Print Server Properties dialogue (C:Windowssystem32spoolDRIVERSx643). My questions are the following:

1. What is the purpose of the File Repository folder as compared to the driver folder as listed above?

2. If I am unable to remove the print drivers through Print Management (using admin rights), should I manually delete the corresponding File Repository folder, should I delete the files in the corresponding folder as listed above (C:Windowssystem32spoolDRIVERSx643), neither, or both?

3. Why in the world does it give that message, even after having deleted that printer? Is it a matter of other users on that machine being mapped to that same network printer, or what?

I did check to make sure there are no other services started that use the printer driver.
