View 1 RepliesI created a WMV file that ended up being 374 MB and another 97.5 MB. However, I wanted to forward the files to someone and Yahoo email will not allow to send larger than 25 MB. So I am the pickle in the pickle jar. I have Windows 7 Ultimate. I am trying to find out if WinZip will zip each movie, so I can ship them off. What is the largest file WinZip will zip up? Or is there another program that will do this, slight of them taking access of my computer and taking the files.
View 2 Replies View RelatedThe laptop (which was running) was OK (battery just kicked in, obviously). (Win 7 32bit)But the PC (I was working on) wasn't !!! (Win 7 64 bit)When the power came on five minutes later, I restarted the PC.Everything appeared fine, however the program which was open and that I was working in, wouldn't "fire up"....and "windows was trying to find a solution to the problem"....as it does, or rather doesn't.FYI The program (.exe) is a data mining, bridge program (between a data feed to a financial platform. (also "firefox", which also was open, couldn't open either).First I looked at "System Restore" and noted that it said that "Rapport" had updated (at the date and time of the power outage), so I contacted Trusteer via their online chat facility. They said that they have indeed had put an update out recently but knew of no conflicts.
I therefore (with fingers crossed) thought it may just be a conflict with "Rapport", so from "programs" I removed "Rapport", then rebooted, then tried to "fire up" the program again....but it again failed to open or run.Next, I did a "System Restore" that put me back a few days (from the 11th of Nov to the 3rd of Nov).I then once again removed "Rapport" and rebooted. Then (with fingers crossed again) I tried the program once more.Again it failed to open and run.I also tried "firefox"...and this also failed to open and run.Next I removed the program from the computer, rebooted it, then re installed the program...and rebooted. ...but still nothing.
I checked (just in the off chance)that the program had not changed since I last installed it (some 10 month previously) by installing it on the laptop....and it installed just fine, opened and ran as it should. So then I looked looked to investigate futher and ran " sfc/scannow " (as administator), thinking that this would throw up some corrupt files in the system, which would give me a starting point from which to work from........but nothing was found. Everything "appeared" to be clear. By that I mean it came up with no faults at all.I rebooted the computer after this scan (just to add a belt, to the braces, so to speak)....and again, the program will not open or run.So...to recap.I have removed "Rapport", which was the only "update" that had happened.I did a "System Restore" to a date where everything was clear....and everything was running. (and removed Rapport) I removed and reinstalled the program which was (is) affected.
I have just built a new computer (desk top PC) and am using Windows 7 (Home Premium edition - Service pack1). My new computer has the same setup as my older one, obviously the latest one is a higher spec. I have run into a problem with installing my printer driver, although its working with the default driver installed by windows it is not the latest driver that was issued in Feb 2009 that I have been using on my old computer. I have found the required driver on a CD that was possibly created by me when I was running windows XP. It's a WinZip file (epson322530eu.exe). When I double click on it I get an error message:-
"This self-extracting Zip files was created by a registered user of WinZipSelf-Extractor 2.2 (4003) WinZipComputing, Inc."
Is it possible that WinZip files can't be opened on my new build computer because of the age of the WinZip file? I don't seem to have a WinZip programe on either computer so I don't know how I installed it before.
I reformat my PC and have just installed Windows 7. I also need to install a good driver updater but I don't know which one to use. I'm planning to use Driver Detective but my friend told me to download Atanium PC driver updater at [URL] I haven't tried any of the two yet. Which one should I use?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI was curious if there was some sort of RELIABLE software that could scan my system and detect if I have out of date drivers. I see a lot of gimmicky programs advertising this capabilty, but I don't want it to be bs and my system just get all out of whack.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have Vista Home Premium 64 bit and I'm trying to upgrade to 7. I bought the college copy so I only have the download, no DVD.
When I get to like 10% of installation I get error 0x80070241, and it says that a file is corrupted or missing and installation cannot continue.
I know everyone hates n00bs who ask questions that have already been answered, and I did google this first (and call Microsoft), but the results I found on google went right over my head and Microsoft was not helpful at all (I shot them off an e-mail thinking I might get better service that way, but they haven't responded yet.)
Anyway, what can I do? I really really want Vista off my computer but it like refuses to die lol.
I have a Sony Vaio VPCEB23FM, At first when I tried to go to windows i got a black screen that said "Operating System Not Found", so my friend tried to fix it with a windows 7 repair cd. But here is the problem he accidentally formatted the Hard Drive which deleted all the files and file the manufacture put in it, he also tried to mess with the ranish partition manager, so he tried to install a fresh windows 7 OSX but the laptop shutoff, now he tried it again and we get a message saying "setup cannot continue due to a corrupted installation file" I cant get to my desktop either.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently cleaned my computer case (took it all apart and vacuumed it out). When I plugged everything back in and tried to boot up, all of my BIOS settings had cleared and I had to re-enter/set them again. I found this odd, but maybe the CMOS battery is failing or dead. A few days later I realize my time is off by about 15 minutes (roughly, the amount of time the PC was unplugged as I was cleaning it). However, when I left click on the time in the bottom right, "Change date and time settings", select the Internet Time tab, and click on Change Settings, I get the following error:Unable to Continue You do not have permission to perform this task. Please contact your computer administrator for help.Unfortunately, I have the only account on this machine, I am the admin, and this is not a domain machine (it's a home PC). I have no clue how or why this error has come about but it's rather annoying. I went into my BIOS and manually set the time to make it accurate and hopefully fix the issue but I still get the error. To further complicate things, when I look in the list of Services, there is no Windows Time service. When I run "w32tm /config /update" from an elevated command prompt, I get the error "The specified service does not exist as an installed service."I ran an SFC /scannow check and it found/repaired a corrupt file (mfds.dll) but that doesn't sound like it's related.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am installing Windows 7 (Custom installation initiated from Windows XP) but I get the following error message when the installation is on the "Installing updates" step of the installation:
"Setup cannot continue due to a corrupted installation file. Contact the vendor of your Windows installation disc or your system administrator for assistance."
Do you have any idea what the problem may be with the installation? Is there a way to see what file that may be corrupted?
I have tried to burn the DVD in low speed, but the error appears anyway. I have a MSI K8T Neo2-Fir mainboard and the Windows 7 upgrade advisor application says that my hardware is okay for upgrading.
I am wondering is there any method i can use to insert all the programs and applications I need to Windows 7 DVD and when I do unattended installation I like it to install everything I want. Also I like to know what is this process or method called, so that i can look for it in google better.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have been using a program called Raw Therapee. I downloaded a new version and on installing it quit saying the old version must be removed. I could not find it listed in Revo Unistaller Pro, so I did a forced uninstall with the location of the main executable. This removed a lot of stuff. I checked the program folder and the folder and many files were still there, so I deleted them. I did a CCleaner in between and after. I then unhide and show system files and deleted the folders in the Appdata of main user and admin account, couldn't find it anywhere else.
CCleaner again and reboot. Went to install the new version again and it claimed that the old version was still installed. I did a search for *aw The* and found an entry in the hidden Program Data Folder. In the Admin account it will not let me in this folder to delete any remnants of the old version of Raw Therapee.
I don't know where this error hs_err_pid came from.I closed down explorer and there were all this notepad messages on my desktop and I can't get rid of them. Researching, I know this is a Java thing. I've uninstalled and reinstalled several times to no avail. My windows update is fully updated.I've run 3 virus programs.I notice this was addressed for someone using XP but what of Windows 7? My add/remove program file only contines the program Java (TM) update 29. Nothing else is listed as far as Java is concerned.I've run cleaner programs and these did not take care of the problem. Every time I restart my machine these errors immediate pop up at start up.

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy son (I have got him to join up) has a custom self made build he does a bit of gaming on and had this annoying error pop up on boot # -5 and it went into a larger screen etc on. We managed to disable it in misconfig now as it wasn't an OS app does it matter that it doesn't run because all I could find was it just checked for software updates and as most of our favourites do this anyway - is it worth getting it back on again.?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI just got a new Samsung RC420 laptop with Windows 7 Home Premium edition OS. When I was installing a software last night, a message pops up and tells me I cannot continue installation until I close a certain program (in this case it was Adobe Updater, which was not opened at all).Today, I am trying to open "my briefcase" from a USB thumb, but a message pops up telling me I cannot open "my briefcase" as it appears a file in it is already open. But nothing else is open on my computer. It was my first time opening anything from the USB thumb.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a laptop computer with Windows 7. This morning, every time I try to enter any program, I get a message which reads: Choose which program you want to open this file". This has never happened before. I tried going into Safe Mode, but the same message pops up when I attempt to open any program there as well. I tried scanning the computer with AVG, but am unable to because I get that same message. Is this some sort of virus? And what can I do to remove this message?
Also, I'm unable to go into regedit. I got a message which reads: File not found.
EDIT: I am able to access my programs in the Start menu. Now, I'm thinking that I might need to delete my shortcuts and replace them with new ones.
So I've been trying to uninstall a program off of my programs list and it continues to tell me that I am unable to do so because I am not the administrator. My account on my computer is the administrator account and it is the only account on my computer. This is the message it keeps telling me, "You must be an Administrator to remove the application. To remove the application you can log on to an Administrator account or contact your technical support group for assistance." I don't understand why it keeps telling me this because I am the administrator for my computer. I don't know how to go about approaching this problem and fixing it so any.
