Recently when I have powered up my laptop it occasionally doesn't load properly, the screen stays black. You can hear the laptop working fine but you cannot see anything. This happens once or twice a week, I usually hold on the power button for 5 seconds, then reboot and it resumes my hibernate settings as usual. Could this be because I always hibernate my laptop?
Latest Windows 7 Update On Sony Vaio - Now Will Not Load Properly
Aug 7, 2012I updated to the latest Windows 7 service pack this morning, upon restarting I can log in however nothing loads up. My screen is black, I am able to move the cursor. When pressing CTRL + ALT + DELETE a error message comes up stating:
"Failure to display security and shut down options. The logon process was unable to display security and logon options when CTRL+ALT+DELETE was pressed. If the operating system does not respond, press ESC or restart the computer by using the power switch."
I am able to boot in to safe mode, I have attempted a system restore to the time before updating this morning. However this stays at initializing for at the moment around 3 hours. I have no idea now what to do, I purchased this laptop in November 2011 which came preloaded with Windows 7 Home Premium Edition 64 bit.

Jul 3, 2011The windows7 cd doesn't boots properly, i mean the first process of windows loading files is good and then starting windows, but then its just the backgroung of windows7 and no installation window pops up.I burned the image using ultra iso at 4x speed.I had a different CD and used that too but same prob appers again.But the problem doesn't ends there, now when i thought to install other cdburning software i get this "Windows cannot access the specified device,path, or file. You may not have appropriate permission to access the item."and its not that, anything i try to install, gives me this problem.Have this problem occured due to previous failure attempts to install windows7,although tecnically the installation never started.

Jan 2, 2010I have a Windows 7 laptop connected via a WRT54G2 wireless router to an XP SP3 desktop. Both the laptop and desktop can see shared resources and both can connected to the internet.
In the Laptop's Network and Sharing Center, however, things are not correct. The Laptop has two connections to the router, lan and wireless. The lan's connection appears OK, but I cannot generate a map. I get "Windows cannot discover any computer or device." The wireless network is public.
I don't know why and I don't know how to change it. Also, when I try to create a new network connection, the laptop sees only a WRT160N router (which I don't have; perhaps I did a while ago, when the laptop ran Vista). No place to add a new one.
I have Cisco's Network Magic and it can correct see everything, including the right router.

Jul 3, 2012The strand thing that it's working perfectly in AIMP3 , but when I'm playing a movie in classic media player or YT video, only the center and right speakers are workinghe others have this weeird , super low delayed sound , barely Noticeable .This is my motherboard , maybe I've downloaded wrong drivers or something, but I'm pretty sure that before reinstalling my Windows 7, I had this user friendly configuration tweak with sound options . Now it seems to be gone .

Jul 19, 2011I have a user who has a machine with a single local account on it. They can log in using the account and we need them to edit their TCP/IP settings in order to have them connect to us and join our domain. As I said, there is only 1 local account on the machine.
The problem is I get as far as having them get to the adapters, right-clicking on the Local Area Connection and selecting properties to get to the TCP/IP settings and UAC pops up saying they need to enter an administrator username and password.
They enter the only account on the computer which definitely has admin privileges (it would have to as the only account anyway) and it tells them that isn't an admin account and they still don't have permissions to view the LAC properties. And of course the same deal if they try to turn UAC off.

Upon the Windows loading up, the logo freezes for a second, a BSOD appears (which I cannot read as it disappears within a fraction of a second) and the computer restarts.I've already gone through a couple of passes using Memtest without any errors, so I think the RAM can be ruled out. I was hoping I could get advice on how to prevent the computer from restarting so I can see the BSOD and further provide information depending on the error.

I installed Windows 7 32-bit yesterday and everything was working fine until I installed catalyst control center, which now causes the system to stay stuck on the blue windows wallpaper without explorer or mouse cursor. I can get to safe mode and perform a system recovery, then I can boot normally. I also tried multiple versions of drivers, but it always does the same thing. Im using Radeon HD5770, Gigabyte P43T-ES3G Mobo, Intel Core2Quad 2,5 GHz (not sure about the exact model number) and 4 GB Ram. Everything worked fine before reinstalling windows and my system specs are exactly the same as they were before.
