View 6 RepliesI tried to find some folders and files a few days ago, and found that the folders had completely disappeared from my computer. I thought that perhaps I had accidentally deleted them, so I used recuvar to try and retieve them but they were nowhere to be seen. I am sure that I didn't delete them, and if I had they would have shown up on the recuver deep scan, but they didn't. I then thought they could have been deleted by a virus, but when I did a scan I only found a tracking cookie- that's the only things I found.

Microsoft Word Auto Recovery is not showing it any place. Search the date for files modified, it doesn't show anyplace. I was working in Microsoft Word 2010 on my laptop. Start Windows Normally. But when I go to the second option it does not work and just goes to the first option and that itself doesn't work either.

I just downloaded MS Office 2010. Now, all the office icons - Excel, PowerPoint etc ..... and all the icons in Start menu and my desktop such as Norton 360, iTunes, Quicktime Player, Calculator etc. show up as the Microsoft Word icon.
In other words all the original icons are missing and the only icon I see - for all software programs is Microsoft Word.
I had a virus on my laptop a few weeks ago and I deleted a folder... or something ... but I'm not sure what it was. what I deleted and how I can get it back?
I have a copy of my maths assignment (my most recent version...which is not backed up) that I have been unable to open. The error is: The file cannot be opened because there are problems with the contents. Details: The name in the end tag of the element must match the element type in the start tag. Location: Part:/word/document.xml, Line: 2, Column: 12620. How to correct this error? I am working with Word 2010.
View 2 Replies View RelatedGot software restore. Can't start from disc. Changed boot order, nothing. f8, f10, f12,got my no where. Won't start in safe mode. I don't have the options that the instructions with the discs say I should have. Here are my options:
1. IDE1: Pioneer DVD-RW DVRTD10RS
2. IDE0: WDC WD5000BPVT=22HX2T1
3. Network Boot: LEGACY PCI Device
1. Goes to eRecovery and just sticks there with a blue spinning wheel
2. Goes to f8 menu with no option for recovery or repair. When trying to start normally it goes to a blue screen with an error message that is gone to fast to read. Restarts
3. Goes to black screen with some unreadable stuff except for the word "failure". Restarts
I normally use Word 2003 for documents, although I use Outlook 2010. This morning I opened a Word 2010 document and after quite a while of some sort of an installation, I was able to open the Word 2010 document. I did not think too much of it, except that later I was sending an e-mail and attached a Word 2003 document and when I went to check it (i.e. open it up) it opened in Word 2010. How do I disable Word 2010 as my default program to open Word documents. I do not want to uninstall the program, but at this point I am not ready to learn how to use Word 2010.

But yesterday when i wanted to watch a dvd my cd drive didnt work. i put it in but ni response but it in again and again no response. looked in "Computer" but it didnt show any cd drives. Only A: and c: (a: was a floppy drive which i dont have :s)
Do you know if this is a driver problem and how i need to fix this?
Windows 7 doesnt have Screensaver on by default? It has the nice dimming feature but then doesnt set the screensaver on by default!!

View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently purchased a new system (about 2 weeks ago) but I've noticed my 64bit software is only able to use 10 of 12GB installed.When I look at the system properties I see windows recognizes 12GB RAM installed but sais only 10GB of it is available.Any thoughts? I paid lots of money for my RAM so I'm not really considering this a luxery problem (When I startup it sais the memory frequency is 1066. Not sure if this is useful)I'm not really thinking a faulty stick because windows recognizes al sticks.

I tried to install sata drivers but it didnt work from external I think.So I called dell sevice . Click Properties, and then click Advanced. In Advanced TCP/IP Settings, on the General tab, clear the Use default gateway on remote network check box. I have internet access but I dont think its through the VPN. I am connected but it says on the VPN stats: Without internet access. Because when I try to go through some blocked ports in my school it still doesnt work but It works with YourFreedom(with openvpn mode).

I have a Seagate barracuda 1.5tb 3.5" 7200rpm hard drive which i was previously using to run windows server 2008. I am now trying to use it as an external hard drive for my laptop, however the laptop does not seem to recognize it. I tried using two different cases, three different usb ports, and i confirmed that everything was properly plugged in and powered on. The hard drive does not appear in disk manager, my computer, or the BIOS.
