View 3 RepliesMy problem is that I had to have a new wireless modem installed from ATT it is a 2wire892. I ran a wireless network test and it still has the old network name on it. I have a hp c4500 series all in one printer. Tried reloading everything and nothing. I also have another laptop that is a Acer Travelmate c310, windows xp service pack 3 on it. They both show the printer and I can hit the print button, the printer will just not print from the wireless computers. [code]
View 4 Replies View RelatedI've been trying to create a homegroup which my laptop (wireless) and my computer (wired) will be part of. They are both connected to the same router. My wireless is called "BuckleyWireless" and my wired computer is connected to something called "VirginMedia478xxx". I'm not sure whether these have to be the same name for it to work so I thought I'd post this anyway.I've checked the subnet mask for both computers and they are the same.I've tried turning off the firewalls on both computers.I've gone into advanced settings so that both computers are "visible" within the network. My laptop is now visible on my wired computer but it can't actually be accessed for some reason.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have 2 computers at home. One is a laptop and the second one is a normal PC. Both of them are connected ia WI-FI to a router which is connected to another router which is outside and connected to WIFI source a few km away ... Anyway, I have a question. I want to share files bewteen these two computers. Each of them have IP which was added to them by the router. When I try to ping the router I do not a problem but when I try to ping 1 computer 192.168.0.153 from the other computer 192.168.0.154 it says: destination host unreachable. I want to create a homegroup but when I create one the other pc just does not see it
View 9 Replies View RelatedThis is for my parents house. They have high-speed net that can only be registered to one computer, so running it to a router and then computers is not an option. We used to have it setup with net into "computer 1" then out to the wireless router. The new computer has only one ethernet port, so this can no longer be accomplished without buying another card, which I am very inclined to do. They are getting another computer that will also have Windows 7 and would like to get wireless working again, so...
1) I've tried an ad-hoc connection. I understand the concept and had it working for awhile but found it to be "finiky." I would always have to restart the connection everytime I wanted to use it. I couldn't get it to "stick." Did I maybe do something wrong or is there no way to keep the net connection open? I "saved" the network and set it to start automatically, but it would always close the internet sharing.
2) I haven't messed with home group...will this feature accomplish internet sharing easily??...without messing with any ad-hoc crap? I need everything as simple as possible, so if they have any problems I can fix it over the phone or they can figure everything out for themselves.
Like I said, worst comes to worst, I'll get them another ethernet and run it the old way...was just hoping I could simplify things and save some money.
I use wireless network in school, and i want to access some files from other computers using the wireless connection.i use by toshiba c675 windows 7i have no clue on special tricks other than common knowledge of computer.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've got a Sony Vaio labtop I bought 10 months ago in the US. I'm in Australia now but have no international warranty. Sony tells me to send the labtop to Sony repair so they can look at it. They trouble shooted over the phone but it didn't help. Asked me to reformat the hard drive which I really don't want to do. This is the problem:
The computer works fine and I can connect and browse the internet with my wireless connection. However, as soon as I connect another computer to the wireless network (or if I'm in a hotel using wireless it also happens because other computer are connected to the same network) I get the BSOD.
The problem is that I cannot say exactly when it happens. SOmetimes it happens within 1 minute of being connected and browsing. Yet sometimes it takes 20min or maybe 45min. I don't think I survived longer than 1h though with 2 computers on the same wireless network.
I didn't notice the problem at first because I only used the one computer. So, I think the problem has always been there but I didn't notice it until I connected a 2nd computer.
To get the blue screen I don't even have to actively browse. I could just scroll down on a page and it happens without warning.
I recently replaced my wireless router and Bellsouth DSL modem with a single Netgear DGN2200 DSL modem/wireless router. The problem is my desktop which is wired, cannot see the laptop computers that are on the network via wireless connection. If I start a homegroup with one of the laptops, the other laptop can join but my desktop cannot (no "join now" option). If I start a homegroup with my wired desktop, neither laptop sees it.However, if I connect my desktop to the network using my USB wireless adapter, then I can establish a homegroup with either a laptop or the desktop with no problem.I have checked that IPv6 is enabled and that all the services listed in other posts are enabled. I'm fairly certain the cause is some setting in my router security, but I don't see anything that would prevent my desktop from linking. I can also get on the internet with no problem.

I have the linkys wireless g usb network adapter, its very popular, but doesn't get along well with linux or x64 os's.
Since the install of the RC ive been crashing, and it turned out to be the wireless adapters fault, so i thought back to when i had to get it working with linux, i was pretty sure their were x64 drivers. Ralink chipsets based wireless devices
SOME of the linksys wireless adapters have a "Ralink" chip in them, you can find 64 bit drivers for some of the adapters. I downloaded the one i needed (the first) and installed the software. I then went to update the drivers i had for the wireless adapter and was more than happy to find out that "Ralink Linksys Wireless 54g USB Network Adapter" right under the current 32 bit driver. after you install the software go to
Start > Contro Panel > Hardware And Sound > Device Manager > Network Adapters > Double click your current wireless device, > Driver Tab > Update Driver Software > Browse My Computer > Let Me Pick, > Select The RaLink Driver And their ya go!

View 5 Replies View RelatedOkay so i have an older Wireless PCI Card from like 5 years ago, I didnt have an antenna for it so i didnt use it, I recently came across the antenna and put the card in my PC, The "Ethernet Controller" says it doesnt have the drivers, and windows wont find it on its own. So i have gone to the website and downloaded the driver and software, it all tells me there are several missing .dll files.
So i downloaded them virus scanned them etc. and still no progress on getting the card installed. I dont know where the CD for it is and i doubt the CD would even work for windows 7. Can anyone help me out with this prob? Its a Wireless-B PCI Adapter 2.4GHz Model No. BB720C808230
I was searching for some updates for my intel WiFi link 1000BGN on this site : Intel Driver Update Utility.i saw that there was a driver 14.3.1.1.so i updated it.I download it and executed it, there was a little sign of the wireless. Then the wireless card restarted itself. However, when i go to the driver details after the installation, the driver is still the old one.

View 2 Replies View RelatedThree Computers on a home network. Desktop in Office (Windows 7) . Wife's Laptop (Windows 7). My laptop ( Vista unfortunately). Norton Security Suite and all three. I have a network setup and a Homegroup established.
Everything was setup and working so that I could share files between all three. My wife was able to open a desktop file make changes and save it back to the desktop computer.
All of that changed. Now we get a message when trying to save the file. "You do not have permission to save in this location. Contact the administrator to obtain permission".
I have given the entire "MY Documents" sharing permission to everyone. I have checked everything. I have looked over all kinds of forums and nothing has worked.
I am to the point of doing a complete reinstall of Windows 7 on my Desktop.
I had a serious laptop error on my Samsung, and I had to pull the data off my hard drive, then reinstall Windows 7 using a neighbor's installation disk (I lost mine in a move). Now, my laptop thinks it doesn't have a wireless card, so I won't be able to get online wirelessly.
