Windows Mouse Driver Files Not Digitally Signed
Oct 5, 2011
Acer 5253 laptop, Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit SP1, AMD C-50.
Trying to use a USB mouse. I have 3 logitech mice. None work because hidclass.sys and hidusb.sys are not digitally signed. If I f8 and disable driver signing enforcement, all 3 mice work, so I'm pretty certain that's the issue.
Tried "Update Driver" via device manager. Windows determined that I already had the best driver and wouldn't do anything. Logitech does not furnish drivers for Windows 7. They rely on the native drivers.
Acer does not furnish mouse drivers. They refer you to the manufacturer of the mouse. Tried copying the files in question from a 64bit machine that showed them to be digitally signed. Renamed the ones on my machine and pasted the ones from the "good" machine. Resolved nothing.
chkdsk /r found problems and repaired them. Didn't help.
sfc /scannow found problems that it could not resolve. Looked in CBS.log and found no references to either of the sys files in question. No resolution.
System Restore only had one restore point, and it was from 2 days ago. Problem was already noticed by then. I suspect that it's been this way since I purchased the laptop a couple of months ago anyway, but if there had been a restore point back at the very beginning, I'd have tried that.
I don't know much about digital signing of drivers. I've seen in a couple of threads that I might be able to sign the drivers myself, but haven't been able to find out the actual steps to do so. Is the digital signature part of the driver file itself? Or is it another file? If so, where's that file? Or is it a registry entry? If so, can I manipulate that to resolve the problem?
I miss XP. All I want to do is use the simplest of all plug and play devices. It's been about 3 weeks and I still can't get Windows 7 to cooperate.

I've been having problems with BSODs (0x09F - happens before sleep mode, or during and 0x0E6 - which happens while I use the computer; it seems to happen when I'm downloading and/or installing anything) so I ran File Signature Verification, and rtnicprop64.dll came up as the only file not digitally signed, and 2 more files weren't scanned. Is there anything I can do?

I have an ASUS Motherboard M4A87TD EVO, got two new hard drives, and changed the BIOS settings to a RAID configuration. After exiting BIOS, I loaded the WIN 7 (64 bit) installation disc, got thru the first few prompts of installation, and the pop up error menu shows up. "No signed Driver Found, Please insert CD/DVD/ Floppy", and my RAID configuration does not appear in the box as a hard drive for Windows to be installed into.
After researching on the web and contacting ASUS, I still don't understand. From what I can gather, it is a driver that will make THE INSTALLATION PROCESS RECOGNIZE MY RAID configuration. Apparently, it must be downloaded onto a thumbdrive and installed "during" the Windows installation. Is it specific to this type of installation, or manufacturer specific? Asus or Windows? A third party??

In my windows 7 installment it gives the error: driver not signed. I need this RAID-driver to be signed for x64. How can i sign a driver. It is the GIGABYTE SATA2 RAID Driver.
Answer:-
Here's how to install Windows 7 using unsigned drivers:
Copy your unsigned driver to USB stick or other media (you will probably need only one .inf and a .sys file)
Start Windows 7 setup.
At this point, Do Not Select 'Install' as your RAID controller will not be detected if it's not supported by Win7
Click 'Repair'.
Wait for the pseudo-scanner to finish.
Click load driver.
Point to your unsigned driver (the .inf file) you previously copied to USB stick or other media.
Wait again for the pseudo-scanner to finish.
Click the 'x' in the corner to close the repair mode.
Click 'Install' to start the installation.
Now your RAID controller and RAID Drives will be detected and there will be no warning of unsigned drivers.
Everything should proceed just fine from this point on.

I've signed a device driver, still it is giving error "Windows cannot verify the digital signature for the drivers required for this device. A recent hardware or software change might have installed a file that is signed incorrectly or damaged, or that might be malicious software from an unknown source. (Code 52)".

My harddrive went out and I put a new one in. It was a brand new drive and I loaded Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit from my laptop's recovery disk that came with the inital purchase. When I started to add the drivers 2 of them came up as unable to verify the signatures. Most importantly the driver for my Wifi adapter, which is an Intel Wifi Link 1000 BGN says this. Windows refuses to run it in that state. So I have no internet and it says that the adapter is not installed or is disabled. When I go into the Device Manager the adapter is there with a yellow "!" and has an error code 52 (for unsigned driver). It shows installed and enabled though I installed the driver from the intial driver disc and it says unsigned, I was able to get the latest driver from Intel's website and that too says it can't verify the digital signature. When I boot into the F8 screen and disable driver enforcement I am able to get online.I'm not sure if this is related or not, but regardless of how I boot, Windows updater and troubleshooters do not work.

I'm trying to install Windows 7 64 bit on a newly built PC; All pieces are brand new. While trying to install Win 7, I get past a couple of screens then I get stuck at a "Select the driver to be installed." screen. Whenever I click on any of the drives showing up I get an error message that says Load Driver "No signed device drivers were found. Make sure that the installation media contains the correct drivers, and then click OK."
I have the bios set to boot from CD/ROM first, Hard disk second, and USB third. The bios reads the hard drive as the correct 1 TB that it is. The "OnChip SATA Type is [Native IDE]." I have checked and double checked that things are plugged in correctly, but do tell me if its still possible I did something wrong. I have also tried booting with a copy of Windows XP that I had laying around but that gave me an error about "unable to partition drive."

I've been up for the most part of the night trying to solve my problem with a few of my drivers not working. Most of the time I can figure this stuff out on my own, but this one has me stumped. I will provide pictures of the drivers that are not working, and have the "Code52" error. The things that I have tried to do:
1. Ran sigverif.exe - the files was not signed
2. Tried to rename the files and re-install.
3. Booted into Advanced Boot Options and disabled driver signing.
4. Started in safe mode and installed the drivers, but after reboot I had the "Code52" again.
5. Ran a full system scan with Trend Micro.
PC Specs:

My computer began acting weird a few days ago. The wireless service was not working. I tried manually starting the service but it gave me errors. I decided I would just reset to an earlier config, but to my amazement all of the backups were gone. In addition, I couldn't reset to factory setting, as it gave me weird errors. I thought it might have been a virus or something so I proceeded to wipe the hard drive with some random program I found on cnet. However after starting the program it gave me the BSOD, and now whenever I boot the computer, it would ask me to install the OS. Normally, this would be fine, but whenever I try to install it (from the windows 7 CD), it always gave me a "no signed drivers detected" message near the bottom. On the screen, my hard drive and unused space also do not show up. So now, my computer just sits there without an OS. I am at a loss as to what to do. If anyone needs additional information,
TL;DR: My comp has no OS and I cannot reinstall because it says there are no signed drivers.

Since I made the Move to 64-bit a while back, Every once in a while, I would run into a Problem where I needed to Install Driver that was Un-Signed.
As A Security measure in the 64-bit Versions of Vista/7, All Drivers must come with a Secure Digital Signature.
This is not a large problem anymore with the fact that Most Drivers are Signed nowadays. But Older Hardware Drivers tend not to be Signed.
There is a Simple way around this Block.
Open the Command Prompt in Admin Mode (Type "CMD" into the Start Menu and press "Ctrl+Shift+Enter") Enter this Command: bcdedit /set loadoptions DDISABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS Now when you Re-Boot, You should be able to Install those Pesky Un-Signed Drivers.

I've been running the RC for around 3 months now and love it. I didn't have any issues when I installed it. I added the drivers for my raid card when the select partition option came up, it installed them and away it went. Now that I'm trying to install the retail version it insists that my drivers are unsigned and that's the end of that.
I've tried using the repair system work around to get the drivers loaded; but that option says that the drivers don't match my installed hardware. I'm using the exact same driver I used for the RC, on the same thumb drive in fact. Plus, Promise says they're signed. I know there isn't a problem with the raid card because I'm on the system now. Anybody have any ideas?

I just installed MS Office 2007 on an HP notebook running Win 7 Home Premium. Since sitting through all of the Windows updates to both OS and Office, I can no longer open folders or files with my mouse unless I right click and choose OPEN. I get an error message saying there is no program associated with that task and suggesting that I create an association. Great if you happen to know which Win 7 program is responsible for opening files and folders.

I have tried to restore the defaults and have chosen double click to open and item/single to select and applied this setting (even though it was already selected). I continue to have the problem. I've also already tried a different mouse.

I just bought a new system and built it myself and was pleasantly surprised to see that it started up ok..now im trying to install windows 7 64-bit from a DVD and I get this message:"No signed device drivers wre found. Make sure that the installation media contains the correct dirvers, and then click OK."I went to ASUS's website and dl'd my HDD's driver and put it on a USB. The installation recognized it and I assume used it but I still have this issue. Basically when I go to select were I want to install windows, there's nothing there.I don't have a 4GB USB and was hoping I could fix this w/o one - I do have a phone with like 10GB storage but I think you have to wipe everything to install windows from a USB.....

my Synaptics touchpad mouse has had a mind of its own. It has been clicking and opening files without me pressing the mouse buttons or tapping the touchpad, scrolling by itself, highlighting and moving the files on my desktop and in my computer, etc.I have tried everything from physically cleaning the Touchpad thoroughly, updating the Synaptics driver time and time again only to find no resolution to this issue, I have also uninstalled and reinstalled previous versions of the synaptics drivers that worked before with my laptop only to be confronted with this same problem.I have ran scans on both Uni-blue registry booster and PC Tools Spyware Doctor (which I use as my registry and anti-virus/spyware programs) and of which I update on a daily/weekly basis and yet I have found no traces of what may be causing my mouse to act so crazy.I have also ran the system scan in the command prompt which was suggested earlier in this thread only to find out that everything was running properly and at 100% integrity.
I have an HP dv7-3065dx Entertainment Notebook [pavilion dv7 is the product name on the back] that I purchased from Best buy in 2010. I am running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit that was pre-installed onto my laptop. I have been pretty thorough on keeping all of my Microsoft and HP drivers up to date and have only began to experience this problem with my touchpad earlier this month. As far as the programs that I use on a daily basis; I mostly use Mozilla Firefox as a web browser and Microsoft Word for my schoolwork and the GOM media player for watching videos. None of which I have been able to do properly since this issue established itself onto my computer.

I have a Dell laptop running Windows 64 Home. This was new in November of 2011. After receiving it, I went through the tedious task of updating it via MS Update. I noticed after upgrading, the mouse started behaving very strangely where it would take off and shutter, not respond or be very slow to respond. Contacted Dell and they had me turn off a bunch of stuff on the Dell Touchpad app. This helped but did not fix the issue. I ended up re-installing the OS and made sure the drivers were installed in the correct order using the drivers disk supplied by Dell. Haves since installed the most current driver provided by Dell on their website 15.3.2.1 (April 2011). There continues to be issues with the mouse freezing from time to time. I looked at other threads and removed the Tap to Click feature. There is not much left on and the problem persists.

I've already installed the latest synaptic driver. The device manager even says that the device is 'working properly' however i can't get the pointer to move using the touchpad.
The 'Fn' functions work:
Fn+F7 to brighten
Fn+F6 to darken.
EXCEPT the touchpad: Fn+F9.
