"Windows Has Detected Another PC With The Same IP Address"
Apr 19, 2012
I just got this laptop 2 months ago. Everything has been great, until the last week. I was losing internet sporadically and at one time I didn't have internet for awhile so I reset my Windstream router. Then a message said to register my internet, which I did. I also had windstream come in and they said my phone lines needed work so they set up a separate line for the phone and a separate line for the internet. I thought that would fix the problems I have been having.
I get a message about 3 times a day that says "Windows has detected another PC with the same IP address". I only have 1 laptop and an IPOD Touch. What is causing this message? A lot of the times I lose the internet and I see a yellow explanation point over the wireless icon in my toolbar....at that time all the lights were on the router. I shut down my laptop and the internet is back. One time I believe I clicked on the exlplanation point and was able to get it back, but I'm not 100% sure on that. What is causing this? I have Norton 360 installed...could that be it? I believe there was an update for Adobe or Windows or something that came up at startup one day that I performed....could that be it? Is it my internet provider Windstream? My router?
I am using a verizon uml290 usb modem on a Lenovo desktop computer and every time I connect to the internet I get the message of IP address conflict. I am able to connect and use the internet fine but I keep getting the message. When I check the event log there ate approximately 1800 entries and this computer is only a month old.
My internet connection shows 'no internet access' even though my ISP shows the connection is coming into the house just fine. I usually use a router (NetGear-WNR3500U) but I right now I have the Ethernet connection plugged directly into my PC. I tried directly plugging into my laptop and the internet works just fine. So I know the problem resides in the PC.
Some troubleshooting things I have tried.
-Power cycled my modem, router and PC.
-Repinged my connection from my ISP(Comcast Xfinity)
-Used the reset option on the router and the modem
-I was walked through the internet options needed with the tech support from my ISP to make sure DHCP was enabled and every other setting was correct, and he cleared me that all settings were correct.
-Tried ipconfig commands to /renew and /release my IP When I tried ipconfig /renew I get the error 'An error occurred while renewing interface Local Area Connection : unable to contact your DHCP server'
-Restored my PC to a restore point where the Internet was working
All of these options did not work.
What I think the problem is and I am not sure how to fix it, when I run the ipconfig /all command my Auto configuration IPv4 Address shows 169.254.112.76 which I was told is a router IP address even though I am plugged directly from the modem to my PC with an Ethernet cord. So I think that's my problem? But I am not sure.
Having problems exporting my comcast address book to windows live mail address book,Also tyied exporting address book from plaxo without success, please help!

I HAD A COMPUTER WITH WINDOWS XP CONNECTED TO THE INTERNET, THEN I REPLACED IT WITH A WINDOWS 7 COMPUTER.SINCE THEN, MY CONNECTION KEEPS DROPPING OFF AND THE ERROR READS..."LOCAL AREA CONNECTION IP ADDRESS IS NOT CONFIGURED"
I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit, + SP1 and fully patched. 6 GB of RAM and over 1 TB of free space on the designated scratch drive. No 3rd-party modifications or hacks to the OS or GUI. Sporadically, my Windows Explorer folders lose their Address Bar. Sometimes this happens during a session, sometimes when I've rebooted the PC after previously shutting down and leaving some Windows open (but no apps running), but I've never actually see the Bar go.
What remains of the window will still be functional - I can navigate to other folders and files with the Tree pane on the left, for instance - but there'll simply be no Address Bar. (Which means no search input, refresh button or back and forward buttons.) I can toggle the Menu Bar on and off, but it doesn't bring the Address Bar back. Usually I simply end up closing that window; when I open a new one, it has an Address Bar, no worries.
It's not all Explorer windows that lose the Bar at the same time; typically, it will only be one out of maybe three or four I have open. And I haven't been able to find any pattern to when the Address Bar goes; it doesn't happen every time I use my PC, and I haven't spotted any pattern to what app(s) I might be running when it happens. I've been trying to spot a pattern, but haven't yet.
There may not be one; if I have two Explorer windows open and navigated to the same folder on the same drive, only one of the two might lose its Address Bar, so it doesn't seem to be location-specific. It's a completely legit, licensed retail copy of Windows, and I'm not running any pirate or hacked software. I have Nortons Internet Security 2011 installed and keep it maintained. And I don't seem to have any other problems - no identified misbehaviours, no error messages.
I have been doing a lot of reading on how to change your IP and to me in windows 7 it is not possible. How to change (Dynamic) IP address in Windows 7 or Vista? How to be able to change there IP? I have tried everything. run/ipconfig /release, unpluging modem and router and no change.
i recently was new to omegle and in about a week or so i was " banned " and automaticcaly redirected to a pornography site.how do i change my ip pass on a mini gateway windows 7 laptop without unplugging the router?

I have a Cowon O2PMP that works like a champ in all aspects except one. Windows 7 on my home PC will not detect the device. It tries to then gives me the "cannot connect USB" message. Therefore I cannot add/remove any of the data on the device. I've tried searching for Win7 drivers for it but they're non-existent.I have brought the device to my work and it picks up just fine on my work PC. Both machines are running win7 Pro.
I am trying to open a ftp address using windows explorer. This is for my school work. I have Windows 7. I entered the ftp address and received an error 550 system cannot find file. I tried changing files and folders settings to show hidden folders. I did everything I know how to do. I am hoping the instructor entered my info correctly to allow me access.
I put Windows 7 (build 7000) onto a plain-vanilla Dell Dimension 4600. It seems to have found the NIC (evidently an Intel Pro/100 VE) just fine: [URL] .. but I'm not picking up an address from my equally-vanilla Linksys router. With the cable unplugged the network window looks like this:[URL]... and as soon as I plug in a cable it starts doing stuff:[URL]... further confirming my belief that the NIC is working and Windows 7 can see it just fine. But then it doesn't pick up an address. [URL]'ipconfig' in a CMD window confirms that it's using a self-assigned (169.x.y.z) address. This machine was online 2 hours ago with XP, so the NIC, cable, and router are all fine.
I have Win7 Ultimate and in the windows explorer or what ever you call the program where you view the files and folders, it shows the address paths of "Hidden" folders that I want to keep hidden. How can I delete these address paths? It also shows up in the IE8 addresses which is a pain but easily deleted there. However in the Windows explorer address bar that option is not available.
My Laptop Notebook was stolen recently. It was VAIO/EA2/GX. I had made it's recovery discs before stealing. It's os was 7 prof x64. So i have recovery dvds now. I want to get it's MAC address through those recovery dvds. how to get my laptop MAC address through its recovery dvds?
There are programs to accomplish this, but here is the roll-your-own method of changing the Media Access Control (MAC) address of your wireless adapter.CHANGE YOUR WIRELESS MAC ADDRESS
The possible MAC addresses in Windows 7 for wireless adapters: X2-XX-XX-XX-XX-XX X6-XX-XX-XX-XX-XX XA-XX-XX-XX-XX-XX XE-XX-XX-XX-XX-XX WIN | cmd.exe | enter | Ipconfig /all > ipinfo.txtIpInfo.TXT has your original IP address.WIN | DevMgmt.MSC | ENTER | dbl-clk on Network Adapters |rt-clk on your ...Wireless Network Adapter | Properties | Advanced tab | select Network Address (in Property area) | Value radio button | enter desired MAC address | OK
Examples of MAC addresses: 023344556677 16A098765432 3Affeeddbbcc 4E44667799aa
WIN is the key with the Microsoft flag on top. MAC Media Access Control address
I am using a windows application which has a feature to change the IP address to 10.XX.XX.1 to connect to a server and restore it back to its original address on exit of connection to the server. The windows application is run with administrator rights. Now i want to run the application without admin rights and change estore the IP address. My application for changing the IP it uses netsh commands from command prompt.
we have Laptop's with windows 7 professional 64bit in domain. admin rights are restricted to the domain users. But many users most of the time use to travel out of station and need to change the IP that time. I tried adding domain user ID's in "network configuration operator" group but still not able to change IP from domain user without giving admin right. can any body tell me any other processes to change IP from domain user not having admin rights in windows 7 ?
