Blocked Connections Booting Normal, Fine In Safe Mode (No AV/Firewall)

Jan 5, 2013

A few of my programs are unable to communicate with their servers now and I can't figure out why as they were find two weeks ago and I haven't made any changes since then. The issue lies with a service/program within Windows as all the programs communicate fine in Safe Mode. Windows Firewall and ICS are both disabled within Services. Malwarebytes (my only AV right now) is disabled also.

I know this is an ongoing and repetitive subject but the numerous searches are all resulting in pointing fingers at an AV program, which I am sure is completely disabled.

Can Only Get Inbound RDC After First Making Outbound RDC

Nov 30, 2012

I am having problems using RDC to connect to an HP laptop running Windows 7 Ultimate, 32 bit edition. The HP laptop is connected wirelessly to my home router. The second computer is an iMac (running same OS as HP) cabled to a switch, which is cabled to my home router router. A third computer, a Thinkpad running Windows 7 64 bit Pro (and cabled to the same switch as the iMac), behaves identically to the iMac, so I won't mention it further.I can always RDC from the HP into the iMac, but have problems RDCing from the iMac into the HP. I will get the error "Remote Desktop can't connect to the remote computer for one of these reasons: 1)Remote access to the server is not enabled 2)The remote computer is turned off 3)The remote computer is not available on the network"When this error appears, I am unable to ping the HP from the iMac. I am always able to ping the iMac from the HP.The HP is awake when in am trying to connect to it. In fact, both computers are set to never sleep or hibernate so I won't have to wake up a computer to RDC into it. Both computers are set up to allow incoming RDC connections. I have confirmed that the antivirus and Windows firewall settings on the HP and iMac are identical. I have even tried disabling both Windows firewalls, to no effect. Now here's where it gets strange. If I first RDC from the HP into the iMac and then disconnect, I can then ping the HP and RDC to it from the iMac. If I reboot the HP, the problem comes back.

Windows 7 Did Not Show Any Network Connections In The Network Connections Window

Apr 19, 2011

Windows did not show any network connections in the network connections window. I tried everything that I could find online but nothing worked. As a last resort I decided to reinstall the driver for my Intel 82566DC-2 Gigabit network connection. I uninstalled the old driver and then installed the latest drivers but now I get code 31 (cannot find the driver software) in device manager and the connection doesn't work.

How To Show Icon Without Notifications

May 28, 2009

So the notification area in Windows 7 is customizable in that you can select to show all icons and notifications or selectably "Icon and notifications", "Notifications only", "No icon or notifications" for the programs. There is one option missing, showing only icon but not notifications.

How could I work around that? There are some programs I want to show on the notification area for their icon but I do not want to receive the notification bubbles of them and there are no options in the programs themselves to turn them off.

Of course to my logic if there is option to show notifications but no icon, there should also be option to show icon but no notifications. Well, apparently the new name "notification area" is made to resemble this restriction, it's made for the notifications and the icons showing there are extra. But what if the user wants it to behave otherwise?

How To Turn Off Visual And Sound Notifications

Jun 8, 2011

One USB device on my desktop computer running Win 7 professional does not work. Maintenance service told me that they cannot repair dysfunctional USB because it is build into the case (chassis). But one dysfunctional USB is not a problem at all, because I have 7 other USB slots operating normally. Anyway, now I am getting non-stop notifications of this non-problem!!! Why? The frequency is sometimes very high and always extremely annoying: it varies greatly, it can be between 5-10 per minute. Aural notifications have this annoying sound and visual notifications are popping up in a sizable cloud in bottom right corner of a screen and are lingering there for far too long, and when I click to close it, it pops back immediately. This is a spoiler (I could tolerate one or two dysfunctional notification a day). It is bothering me visually and aurally, greatly diminishing my user experience, disturbing my work, my listening to the music and watching the pictures or movies. After much tinkering I succeeded to turn off sound notification (via Sounds customization), but I cannot turn off visual notifications. I cannot customize Notification area icons - when I try to "Hide icons and notifications" in category Windows explorer where there is this unwanted visual message USB DEVICE NOT RECOGNIZED and click OK, it does not work, because it pops up again immediately - next time I check Notification area icons customization this category is back to "Only show notifications" although I changed it to "Hide".

The Notifications Aren't Show In The Notification Area

Mar 31, 2012

A week ago all the notifications in the notification area stopped appear. There is no problem with icons - they all are there, but the notifications aren't display. My taskbar is set to autohide. When there must be a notification - i.e. when I disconnect a flash drive - the task bar stays for a moment (like there is a notification) and then hides, but there is no notification shown at all. The situation is the same with all other notifications.By default I work with the checked option "Always show all icons and notifications on the taskbar". I tried to uncheck this option and select "Show icon and notifications" for all icons, also tried to set "Only show notifications", with no success - the notifications aren't display under any circumstances.I tried to Reset the notification area icons cache, but this also doesn't help. Tried to turn off Aero - no change. Tried to turn On/Off "Always show all taskbar icons and notifications" using reg files from here, in both cases there are still no notifications. In fact not a single notification showed in any way for the last week.

Windows 7 - No Network Connections Are Available

May 30, 2011

My laptop {NV53 Gateway} quit searching for networks, and eventually displayed no connections are available. I have looked for solutions all over the internet but I can't find any. The troubleshooter doesn't work for me. It says the driver is experiencing hardware issues, but I know it doesn't, because I looked in the device manager and it doesn't have any issue.

I am trying to figure out what the problem is, I've tried to connect to a network, that doesn't work & I've also tried setting up a new network but that doesn't work either. My Wifi button on my computer is on, and I do have a card installed on it, and it still doesn't show up with any networks. I did ipconfig/all and my Ethernet Adapter Local Area Connection says media disconnected only because I dont have it connected to ethernet...

On the other hand, it says:
Tunnel adapter isatap. {45E92676-7CB114F99-8B8C-2BE1DA2A0FEA} and it is a Microsoft ISATAP Adapter (which I didn't know I had). And the other is a Tunnel adapter Teredo Tunnneling Pseudo-Interface. Both of them are media disconnected.

Broadcom NetLink {Tm} Gigabit Ethernet is my ethernet connection. I usually go wirelessely.

How To Get Windows 7 To Use 2 Connections Simultaneously

Nov 17, 2012

I have a bit of a canundrum. I have 2 mobile broadband connections, one for my computer and one for my iPhone. It's basically the same subscription over here. I live a bit off the grid so I can't get any DSL connection unfortunately. So they both have a limited download rate and my 10 gigs each month dries up pretty fast, and then I'm left with a 15kb/s connection on both devices. Now I've used my iPhone as a wifi router to access it and download through that connection on my pc, meanwhile the USB dongle 3g connection has been there and I've just assumed that they work together to bring me information, but obviously that doesn't happen. Now I realize this won't do a lot, but over here it's a doubling in bandwidth, and from 15 to 30 kb/s is quite a jump.

Can't Find "Disable Add-on Performance Notifications" In Group Policy Settings?

Aug 27, 2012

I'm trying to get rid of the pop-up that Internet Explorer gives that tells me that I can speed up my browsing by disabling add-ons. All the googling I've done tells me to run gpedit.msc and go to Administrative Templates Windows Components Internet Explorer and enable "Disable add-on performance notifications". I've run gpedit.msc and searched through the options, and no-where can I find "Disable add-on performance notifications". The only option that mentions add-ons is "Do not allow users to enable or disable add-ons". I've opened that up just in case the option I want is hidden within that, but it doesn't seem to beI run Windows 7 64 home premium (I followed some instructions I found on the net to enable gpedit.msc as it is generally only available on Windows 7 Professional) and Internet Explorer 9.

Device Is Currently Is Use Message With Any Usb Connections In Windows 7

Close any programs or windows that might be using the device and try again." Since is happening with every device I plug in, I'm guessing it is a Windows 7 problem. Is there a way to fix it? I've been just pulling the usb out but someone said I should shut down the computer first.

Everything seems work prefectly. The client(iPad 2) loses internet browsing capability if I turn On the option to send all traffic however if the send all traffic is off then everything works fine. It's only my assumption that the reason why the internet works when the send all traffic is Off via my iPad 2 to the windows 7 machine is because it created a split tunnel which allows me to use the Internet without problems. My goal is to be able to turn On Send All traffic and it works. Having all data passthrough the windows machine
