i currently have a printers shared over a network on a windows xp computer. i am connecting to both xp and 7 over a network. each time i restart my win 7 computer i have to reconnect to the sharer to be able to print.
View 1 RepliesI have all my printers connected to Windows 7 machine. I have an Xp machine connected via home network that I want to use the printer(s) over the network. Once I get the printer network connection established, it works fine except when I shut down the computers and restart them the next day. Even though the desired printer is showing "ready" on my Xp machine, I cannot print to it.
I believe that the Windows 7 machine is changing the printer Share name some times as I found out today. Once I make sure all names etc are the same and re-booting both machines it seems to work once again. Today I had no luck until I went to go to the shared file folders on the Windows 7 machine, Windows 7 asked me for sign in/password, then the printer started working.
I need to fix this, got something not configured correctly? Should not matter what machine is turned on first to get both machines networked together?
Windows did not show any network connections in the network connections window. I tried everything that I could find online but nothing worked. As a last resort I decided to reinstall the driver for my Intel 82566DC-2 Gigabit network connection. I uninstalled the old driver and then installed the latest drivers but now I get code 31 (cannot find the driver software) in device manager and the connection doesn't work.
View 5 Replies View RelatedRunning into an interesting problem and my partner and I can not figure out exactly what is the issue.We are capturing an Image from a Lenovo machine and then pushing back to the same machine for testing. Everything works fine except for the fact that the OS seems to be getting stuck trying to pick the Timezome during one of the restarts.I am looking for really any suggestions of something we may have over looked in settings or answer files etc. We have it set to pick Eastern Standard but seems to just not want to pick it.I should note that if we pick the Timezone manually the rest of the Image works completely fine and joins the domain how we want it to. It simply a problem of getting this pass unstuck.

So i just found this website a week ago and I thought this might be worth seeing if anyone knows anything about. I've had a Toshiba laptop for about 3 years now, and it came with Vista. About a year ago a friend of mine in IT put Windows 7 on it and i didn't really realize it was bootleg. All works fine but whenever i change my desktop background and turn my computer off, it reverts back to black. I also get a pop-up like once a day reminding me to register, but thats less annoying than Vista so its cool.

I have set one of my Gmail addresses as my default e-mail address. This default setting doesn't hold. When I open my e-mail folder and try to send a new email, the default setting no longer shows. This requires that I set my outgoing e-mail address manually, which I should not need to do once I set my default address.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've customized my power setting so that the monitor is set to turn off after 25 min of inactivity. It was working for a several days but just last week, I noticed that my monitor was not turning off as expected. When I looked in the power setting, the "Turn off the display" was set to NEVER.
I changed it back to 25 min; it worked for a few days....but somehow it keeps reverting back to the NEVER. I should add that I have all the OS updates installed and I am the only user on this computer.
Solved: Currently on laptop; no problem here, but on my PC the Taskbar (Lock checked) doesn't hold its' locked size. I have "Autohide" enabled and I adjust the size to my liking. It stays that size for a while, but will revert to about half the width of my selection; which was slightly over an inch.

I like it because it does what I need to do , is fast, u can open 200+ tabs and it still works perfect. I like the simplicity and simple look of it...Firefox was doing fine till version 3.6. Than it could not hold the tabs and it kept crashing.I stopped using IE 10 years ago or so. Yes, I still use it if there is no other way or on someone else's PC and I know why is it, that I don't use it.

I ask this as i use some software for graphic work & it requires to right click & hold for long periods whilst performing other functions to get the desired affect but if i could simple mouse over & press capslock on it would do the click & hold for me so i can do what i wanted to to & then turn capslock off to release the button effect.

I will copy a string of text and if I I dont paste it very soon after it wont paste.Usually I hcopy a piece of text, and if I have to minimize a few windows or do too many keystroke before pasting it gets lost and I have to go back and re-copy it.Its just beuggier than expected for such a nice OS.

I am helping someone setup an office where the host OS running Win 7 Pro x64, and have about 15 client machines connect to it.
The client PCs would be used to save/access data stored on the host machine. Would getting a full blown server be a better solution?
My laptop {NV53 Gateway} quit searching for networks, and eventually displayed no connections are available. I have looked for solutions all over the internet but I can't find any. The troubleshooter doesn't work for me. It says the driver is experiencing hardware issues, but I know it doesn't, because I looked in the device manager and it doesn't have any issue.
I am trying to figure out what the problem is, I've tried to connect to a network, that doesn't work & I've also tried setting up a new network but that doesn't work either. My Wifi button on my computer is on, and I do have a card installed on it, and it still doesn't show up with any networks. I did ipconfig/all and my Ethernet Adapter Local Area Connection says media disconnected only because I dont have it connected to ethernet...

I have a bit of a canundrum. I have 2 mobile broadband connections, one for my computer and one for my iPhone. It's basically the same subscription over here. I live a bit off the grid so I can't get any DSL connection unfortunately.So they both have a limited download rate and my 10 gigs each month dries up pretty fast, and then I'm left with a 15kb/s connection on both devices. Now I've used my iPhone as a wifi router to access it and download through that connection on my pc, meanwhile the USB dongle 3g connection has been there and I've just assumed that they work together to bring me information, but obviously that doesn't happen. Now I realize this won't do a lot, but over here it's a doubling in bandwidth, and from 15 to 30 kb/s is quite a jump.

Close any programs or windows that might be using the device and try again." Since is happening with every device I plug in, I'm guessing it is a Windows 7 problem. Is there a way to fix it? I've been just pulling the usb out but someone said I should shut down the computer first.

Everything seems work prefectly.The client(iPad 2) loses internet browsing capability if I turn On the option to send all traffic however if the send all traffic is off then everything works fine. It's only my assumption that the reason why the internet works when the send all traffic is Off via my iPad 2 to the windows 7 machine is because it created a split tunnel which allows me to use the Internet without problems.My goal is to be able to turn On Send All traffic and it works. View 1 Replies View RelatedYou know how you hold down the "down" key and it scrolls down on a page? mine just suddenly quit doing that.. i held down "down" key and it only scrolls like 1cm (you know what i mean).. and as i was typing, it would miss out letters if i were to type"qwertyuiop" normally, it would type "qwtyp".. something like that.. did a restart and problem was gone.. why did that happen and how can i prevent it? or is it time to do a refund / return/ exchange?
