I have personalized Window's sound settings so that I only get sounds when I want them for certain occurrences. However, there are times when the sound settings just revert back to Window's default sound settings. No problem resetting my sounds, but it is annoying when the sounds, for no apparent reason, revert back to default.
View 6 RepliesSolved: Currently on laptop; no problem here, but on my PC the Taskbar (Lock checked) doesn't hold its' locked size. I have "Autohide" enabled and I adjust the size to my liking. It stays that size for a while, but will revert to about half the width of my selection; which was slightly over an inch.

The sound isn't very loud but loud enough that it has been annoying me since I got these headphones. Is there any way to disable this clicking noise so that I cannot lose my mind.

Say a game for instance, if I put the volume to 20% in the sound mixer and then exit the game, then go back on the game and check the volume in sound mixer.Instead of it saying 20% still and remembering it resets the volume to 100%.
View 8 Replies View RelatedThis is a weird issue I'm having. I did a restart and when I came back BF3 wasnt playing any sounds, which is weird because it was just working. I went to make sure it wasnt muted in the mixer, and I see the weirdest thing.
The application "System Sound" is disapearing in and out very quickly, not only in the mixer but In devices as well
What can I do to fix it? Maybe reinstall Windows 7 sound drivers?
I have applied settings in control panel to make my mouse snap to default in dialogue box. I have done this a number of times. It still doesn't work, except for usually in print routines where it snaps to the Print button.
View 1 Replies View RelatedRunning into an interesting problem and my partner and I can not figure out exactly what is the issue.We are capturing an Image from a Lenovo machine and then pushing back to the same machine for testing. Everything works fine except for the fact that the OS seems to be getting stuck trying to pick the Timezome during one of the restarts.I am looking for really any suggestions of something we may have over looked in settings or answer files etc. We have it set to pick Eastern Standard but seems to just not want to pick it.I should note that if we pick the Timezone manually the rest of the Image works completely fine and joins the domain how we want it to. It simply a problem of getting this pass unstuck.

I've had a Toshiba laptop for about 3 years now, and it came with Vista. About a year ago a friend of mine in IT put Windows 7 on it and i didn't really realize it was bootleg. All works fine but whenever i change my desktop background and turn my computer off, it reverts back to black. I also get a pop-up like once a day reminding me to register, but thats less annoying than Vista so its cool.

I have set one of my Gmail addresses as my default e-mail address. This default setting doesn't hold. When I open my e-mail folder and try to send a new email, the default setting no longer shows. This requires that I set my outgoing e-mail address manually, which I should not need to do once I set my default address.

One of them is that my sound settings (volume, bass, surround sound, etc...) are being reset every reboot.
I'm using the Creative X-fi Xtreme Gamer sound card with the latest Windows 7 64-bit drivers from their site. I've disable UAC, messed around with permissions and nothing seems to work. I have to go into the audio settings every time I reset!
Recently I was setting up a VPN client (PacketIX), and the setup wizard suggested some Audio/Video Streaming "Optimization" tweaks. I didn't pay attention and confirmed.Since then, I often hear some crackling / popping noises. For instance, this systematically occurs when I Alt/Tab between a running game and my desktop.An obvious guess is that the damn VPN client messed up some sound settings, but I can't figure out what to do. I've found a good deal of DPC latency workarounds around here which I tried in vain.

Tried all kind of drivers from the official site, but no result. On the Device manager there are jus High Definision driver, but not Realtek. In Program files there is a Realtek installed program, but nothing works. There is no Realtek Sound Manager too.
View 3 Replies View RelatedSo I have a SB Audigy SE (SB0570) and I installed Windows 7 about a month ago. Initially, my sound did not work even though I installed the drivers correctly. It began working one day when I restarted the computer in safe mode and then restarted it again normally.
Today, however, it failed again. The only thing that I can think of that has changed is that I installed drivers and software for my Sony Handycam last night. I've since uninstalled the software, but to no avail. When I click on the sound icon in the system tray with Winamp playing, I can see the green bar jumping up and down, signifying that there is sound. I've tried using speakers and headphones, so I know it's the sound card that's causing the problem.
I have uninstalled my drivers and I've tried daniel_k's drivers (first the ones that were too new for the SE - lol - and then the ones that were designed for the SE, the 2.0 version), the drivers that Windows 7 automatically downloaded for me, the 917x support pack, and the drivers that Creative provides on their site for Windows 7. None of them made any difference. My current driver reports its version as 5.12.1.2020, and Windows says that it's working correctly.
Can anyone tell me why I can't get sound even though my drivers seem to work? What might have caused this seemingly random problem?
I'm having trouble with controlling the volume in windows 7. If I'm playing music through either Windows media player or itunes and drag the taskbar volume slider down to 0% I can still hear sound. I've only noticed this problem last night so I thought a system restore to yesterday afternoon would fix it but I've still got the problem. There is a possibility that this problem there since the installation of windows and that I only noticed it last night though.
Some random details: I've noticed that if I open the mixer, all of the levels claim to be on the same volume. Itunes, applications and system volume sliders are all at zero but sound is still playing. If I just click on the itunes slider, the sound disappears completely and 0% volume actually means just that. The problem then is that the slider is then independent to the master volume slider and I have to adjust the volume for itunes every time.

My system doesn't even have official Vista drivers from Dell so if the problem was there since before last night then it's probably due to the drivers. If that is the case, is there anything that I could do (other than a system upgrade)?
I've customized my power setting so that the monitor is set to turn off after 25 min of inactivity. It was working for a several days but just last week, I noticed that my monitor was not turning off as expected. When I looked in the power setting, the "Turn off the display" was set to NEVER.
I changed it back to 25 min; it worked for a few days....but somehow it keeps reverting back to the NEVER. I should add that I have all the OS updates installed and I am the only user on this computer.

I like it because it does what I need to do , is fast, u can open 200+ tabs and it still works perfect. I like the simplicity and simple look of it...Firefox was doing fine till version 3.6. Than it could not hold the tabs and it kept crashing.I stopped using IE 10 years ago or so. Yes, I still use it if there is no other way or on someone else's PC and I know why is it, that I don't use it.

I will copy a string of text and if I I dont paste it very soon after it wont paste.Usually I hcopy a piece of text, and if I have to minimize a few windows or do too many keystroke before pasting it gets lost and I have to go back and re-copy it.Its just beuggier than expected for such a nice OS.

I can play dvd'd, cd's, iTunes, etc and the sound plays through my speakers without a problem. I want to record some sounds from a dvd but i cant get anything to record. Recording device is set to Wave EMU DSP as the default device. Im using Audacity to record and have set the recording preference device to be Wave (E-MU _-DSP). When I hit record I get an error 'Error while opening sound device. Please check the input device settings and the project template'And I cant record anything.In the built in Windows sound recorder, when I hit record, I get this error 'An audio recording device cannot be found' Everything seems to be functioning perfectly, yet i just cant record anything.

When playing games or open 3d applications the temp goes 30C to 72C (In 15 seconds) then 82C - 85C constant (in about 30 seconds).Now I've been using MSI afterburner to check my temps and at fulload my GPU will be at 62-72C max temperature but now it's 10C even higher then before. No, I haven't fiddled with the voltage I set the GPU voltage to 1.037v which is the safest (been running this almost 8 months!). The GPU is the GTX 560ti.Is there a way to set the GPU on default settings or reset GPU settings in cmd or other professional way. I have uninstalled the drivers, uninstalling GPU, disabled GPU, disabled PCI-E slot and so on by using device manager and the issue still persist. Yes, I also have clean the GPU perfectly and still the temperature goes up to 82 seconds at 30seconds-45seconds. Yes, I have checked everything is set correctly and so on, I am a PC Tech.
Is the GPU damaged? Yes I have looked at this thread: Stop 0x124 - what it means and what to try Mainly, I know its the GPU straight away, I tried checking old drivers, new drivers, another GPU overclocked software such as GPU tweak and EVGA Precision. I am thinking it's the GPU is damaged or the PCI-E is damaged (I have another PCI-E slot on my system and the issue still there). It might be the PCI-E frequency? but it's set to 100 which it meant to be, I just hope is software related because I don't have the money to buy a new card. Did the dump files help?
You know how you hold down the "down" key and it scrolls down on a page? mine just suddenly quit doing that.. i held down "down" key and it only scrolls like 1cm (you know what i mean).. and as i was typing, it would miss out letters if i were to type"qwertyuiop" normally, it would type "qwtyp".. something like that.. did a restart and problem was gone.. why did that happen and how can i prevent it? or is it time to do a refund / return/ exchange?
