I installed a new copy of windows 7 ultimate by formatting my HDD but an option appear for me to choose between earlier version of windows and win 7. How can I stop this?

Wouldn't that in itself cause software conflicts?They came from various games off steam and other programs such as drivers and editing software.I don't understand why it stacked so many, I mean wouldn't it be better to uninstall all the versions and reinstall the most up to date versions? I went this route last time and afterwards I got side by side errors. I just don't want software conflicts so I ask the experts here, is it safe to remove these?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI did an iso from my windows 7 dvd and used the Windows7-USB-DVD tool to install it in a usb flash drive. I removed the eicfg so i can choose any version (Ultimate, Home Premium..etc) and then created the usb version. The problem is that when i boot from the usb to install windows 7 it automatically shows Home Premium, no other so i can't pick the one i want. If i boot from the dvd (i created a dvd copy with the file removed too) it presents all versions.

I am intending to upgrade my computer and take the opportunity to upgrade to Windows 7, but on the point of ordering I was told that I could only run one version of Office with Windows 7 which would make it very difficult for me to work effectively.
I would like to have the latest software as I really need this in the environment I work in but do not want to be limited to one version of Office.
I've been using DVD Decrypter and Vidomi for a long time on my old Windows XP then Vista PC to convert DVD stuff I record from the TV to AVI format. Does any know of any free versions of the above software for use on Windows 7 64-bit?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have Windows 7 Ultimate running 64 bit. The program causing issues is not new. It worked OK until yesterday. I have Roxio Creator 11 Pro installed and it will let me load individual parts of the program to use but when I try to open the full version I get the following:-C Windows Microsoft Net Framework v2.0.50727 cvtres.exe cannot start or run due to incompatibility with 64 bit versions of windows. PLease contact the software vendor to ask if a 64 bit Windows cojmpatible version is available.I have Microsoft.NET Framework 4 Client Profile showing in my Programs and Features. I have uninstalled Roxio and reinstalled it but get the same message on my screen which will not disappear until I close the Roxio program.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI bought a computer from CyberPower a couple of years ago, and I recently checked up on the license status for the copy of Windows 7 I got with the computer by running the "slmgr" command, since the dealings I had with CyberPower were not as good as they could have been. Apparently, my version of windows is "OEM_COA_NSLP". From my research on the matter, it should read "OEM_COA_SLP".Is it anything to worry about, and if not, what is the difference between "NSLP" and "SLP"? I don't appear to be able to find anything further on the matter.

So I was wondering if one version you could install on more than one computer or what. Also I was going to get a SSD farther down the road and I was wondering if I have 7 installed on the regular hard drive do I have to reinstall it on the SSD or what? Also if I have to install it again does that mean that I have to go out and get another copy or can I use the same disc and install on both the hard drive and the SSD, at different time? One final question, if my hard drive was to fail and I didn't have the ssd at this point, and I got a new hard drive but it was different then the first one, but the rest of the computer was the same, could I use that same windows disc to reinstall it one that brand new hard drive or not?

I used xp pretty much right up until Jan 2011... it seems to me like the version of windows I am using now (7 premium 64 bit has way less updates than xp professional had... does anyone know if this is true that this version of windows has needed less updates?

For instance (without any tweaking of modification) Is the install of Professional a lot larger than home premium and enterprise a lot larger than professional? Does anyone know the baseline install sizes for the different versions. My situation: I've got windows xp running right now on my old HDD. Been using it for years. I got a new SSD for christmas and a copy of windows 7. I've already put World of Warcraft on my SSD and have the SSD set as the D drive in dynamic configuration (i'm not exactly sure what that means).
I put in the windows 7 installation disk, and go through the first few screens. Once it gets to the screen where I choose "where" to install windows 7, the only HD it lets me choose is the old HDD with windows xp on it. The SSD shows up, but I can't choose it!
Is it because I've already used it a bit and installed some programs on it?
If I just take out my old HDD for a bit, will it let me install windows 7 onto the SSD because it's the only possible choice?
I keep reading about older versions of Windows 7 Ultimate. Meaning the newer ones are different? I am going to purchase Windows 7 Ultimate but is there a difference? I can get a fairly decent price on A site for an older version of Windows 7 Ultimate so is the smarter choice to purchase the newer though more costly versions, or the older versions at the cheaper price. ( at least 75 dollars up to 100 dollars USD difference in prices)?

My pc has been acting funny i ran the chkdisk wich begins when you boot up the pc. At some point i knocked the ac adapter out of my notebook without knowing it and it finally went dead in the middle of the chkdisk. It automatically rebooted and gave me the option to repair the harddisk using vista which i upgraded to 7 a couple of years ago and i would choose the the only other option which was start windows normally well every time i would do that win 7 would try to load and right before you get to ur user account icon where you type in your password the pc would reboot and start this same cycle over and over again. Nevertheless when it rebooted again i hit the fn keys like i was a receptionist typin 150 words a min and i think it might have been the f10 key but not sure and this is the list of options that popped up.

I can enter down and go to safe mode or other options. I do not know why this is happening on each start-up.
I think perhaps there are still two copies of the windows 7 Operating system on the computer. I had to do a reinstall and I assume one was not removed.

View 9 Replies View Relatedrecently my laptop (Toshiba Portege R830) started to freeze on the login screen almost everytime I power it up. As soon as I enter the login screen (the screen where you choose which user you want to log in with), my laptop just plain freezes: nothing works except shutting it down and restarting and praying. But sometimes it works and doesn't freeze, strangely (like right now).When I open my laptop in safe mode, it always work. There isn't any problem at all.I did a chkdsk in the console command screen (the famous cmd.exe) and also checked for any ''integrity problems'' (sfc/scannow I think it was) but it came up with nothing.I know it's vague but this is all I know. Does anyone know what might cause freezes on the login screen when you have to choose user? Personally I'd say this isn't related to hardware since the computer is like 2 or 3 months old, which there isn't much stuff on it right now too. It's also not a virus, I didn't do anything shady (yet) with this laptop.
I also have another small problem with my user folder. It's the default folder located at C:Users/(my name). It has been acting strangely since I had this computer. Sometimes when I delete one of the annoying useless folders like ''Favorites'' or ''Searches'' they don't disappear right away. I have to refresh the page to make it disappear for real, and this is troubling me because I never saw anything like that before. Usually when you delete something, it just goes away instantly. Also, I backup'ed some of the folders in the user folder on an external hard drive and sometimes when I power up my external hard drive some duplicate folders are created, which is so unbelievably annoying since when they keep coming back and I have to refresh everything to confirm I really deleted them
