I have one DVD with all windows 7 included both 86, 64 I want to customize installation in the screen that you choose Os edition, I want to go direct to the one I customize previously without user to click and choose.
I want it goes direct and install ultimate or give only professional option and goes without user interaction, , Is there I way to do this?

I'm using windows 7 64 bit and when i play my games the game would litterally skip... kind of like having frame skip on the highest then playing a game.. Also, windows media player would either do one of the following:1. video skips and no audio plays2. Server execution failed3. The video will play for like 5 seconds then says it cant play the file..Also when i try to run the windows experience index it will get the video decoding and it will say that it can't complete it for some reason. I've tried reinstalling windows and it just kept happeningI've tried doing everything to repair WMP and then it would work until i reboot again. even when i dont repair it i have to reboot then it would be fine.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently picked up a pre-built machine that came with Windows 7 (OEM) pre-installed and an Nvidia 8400GS. I replaced the 8400GS with a GTS 250 and figured I'd uninstall the drivers that Windows 7 pulled in through Windows Update, and download the latest Nvidia drivers.
I uninstalled the stock drivers in the Device Manager, checked the "delete drivers" box and restarted the machine. Windows 7 dedected the card and immediately started to auto-install drivers. I could skip the downloading of new drivers, but it still installed older Nvidia drivers (dated April or May 2009). Can this be prevented? If so, how?
Windows Update then offered to download newer drivers (September 2009), which I allowed manually (this part is fine). What I'm looking for is a clean way to uninstall the drivers installed by Windows 7 and then manually install the driver package I downloaded from Nvidia.com.
On a side note (should probably make a separate post for this), is it normal that after the Windows 7 desktop is displayed (including shortcut icons), after two seconds the icons reset (become white default icons) and somewhat slowly reload? After a reboot, that is. I don't remember this happening with the 8400GS before I fiddled with the drivers.
My dad was "helping" me by updating my computer without consulting me. I didn't see what he did but I think he only installed some updates as far as I know...
Anyway since then every time I turn on my computer it loads Windows Boot Manager first instead of loading straight to Windows 7. I only have Windows 7 installed on this computer so there's no point in it asking me what operating system to load. I tried the 2 main methods described on these forums and they have not fixed the problem. Now the boot manager stays there until I select an option. Before this my computer used to boot in 30 seconds! Now it has to load the boot manager which takes an additional 30 seconds itself.
I did go into system properties>adv settings>advanced>startup and recovery>unchecked time to display list of operating systems. I also tried msconfig>boot
I was wondering if someone can clear this up for me. I just finished building my 1st desktop pc ever yesterday. It's running quite well I should say. Everything is normal except I noticed my cursor is lagging. My first reaction was that "My wireless mouse must be interfering with the router." From what I remembered, it was a steady lag. About every 1/2 sec it would skip from one place to another whenever I moved my mouse. I went to Best Buy looking for a wired mouse, but hated all of them, plus I love the wireless one I still have. Instead of getting a wired mouse, I bought a dual band Netgear router.When I got home and hooked it up and all, it worked perfectly. Then probably an hour later, lag lag lag again. I messed around with the router settings quite a bit, but it's not worth it since disabling the 2.4 Ghz signal is useless. I couldn't connect to the router (and internet) when I disabled the 2.4 Ghz band.
After I got both bands up, I decided to try using an old wired mouse I had. It worked for a few minutes without lag, but it appears that wasn't the case either. So I ruled out the possibility of router interference. I tried updating all the mouse drivers, but it said it was already installed. I have also downloaded all the Windows 7 updates. There were 41 of them with a size of 114 MB. That didn't appear to help either. Right now, as I'm typing, it tends to lag every other minutes. I even disconnected the wireless connection and it doesn't appear to be the case.Loading webpages is fast as ever. I have the desktop gadgets that monitor the CPU, Network, GPU, and Hard Drives. Plus, I have HWMonitor and CPU-Z (which I need to reinstall cause the disk icon is not the correct picture).
One more thing that is very important. After the new dual band router was hooked up, the lag with both wireless and wired mouse is different from the steady lag I mentioned before. It's more unpredictable in my opinion. I can't live with it certainly as I can't see where it's going and more time is wasted trying to pinpoint my cursor destination.
So i recently added ram to my computer, this is DDR2 RAM, so i took out 2 old sticks that were 1 gig each and put in two 2 gig sticks. Therefore all 4 of my slots are full and i have 6Gigs in total. When i tried to start up my computer i pressed F1 to save the new memory amount (This amount was indeed correct), and my computer rebooted but then stopped at a disk check. I allowed it to run the disk check for about 10-15 seconds. In this short amount of time it was displaying a bunch of corrupted files and attempting to resolve them i am guessing, but suddenly my computer restarted around 5 times in a row in 5-10 second intervals then i got the error saying: 2233 - HECI error during MEBX execution. ME BIOS Extension Module halted. Update BIOS or ME Firmware if problem persists.I have only found onereference of this on uring-MEBX-execution/td-p/4490533 which seems like it was a faulty motherboard. What i did was i took out the new sticks of RAM and put in the old sticks of RAM and tried my computer again. This time I got all the way to the disk check again and this time i skipped it. Windows started up fine but with some other issues. When i started Google Chrome, it said that my internet explorer.lnk file was corrupted. Also if i tried to reinstall internet explorer, it would fail installation near the end. (by fail i mean i would get a window saying Internet Explorer could not fully install). Next i tried Microsoft excel, and it failed saying i did not have enough memory even though my computer stated i had 6 gigs but 5.7 something usable RAM. I tried word and it instantly "Stopped Working" as windows put it. So i uninstalled microsoft office to try an reinstall it but I rebooted my computer after I uninstalled it.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI've just upgraded my Media Centre from Vista x64 to Windows 7 x64.Previously when watching recorded TV I could use the skip fwd/back buttons on my remote &/or keyboard to skip fwd 30 secs, or back 7 seconds; however this no longer works. They do however work perfectly when watching/listening to Movies/Music.The on screen skip buttons still perform the same task (fwd 30s, back 7s).Reading other forum posts I gather this is because the skip buttons are looking for the next track and by its nature recorded TV doesn't have any tracks.Is there a way of editing the registry to reprogram the buttons to skip fwd a specified time frame when watching recorded TV? I'm using a logitech dinovo edge keyboard for which I've installed the latest drivers. I also use my iPhone with JumiMouse as a Remote and a Hauppage TV Tuner Remote, all the above have the same problem.

My situation: I've got windows xp running right now on my old HDD. Been using it for years. I got a new SSD for christmas and a copy of windows 7. I've already put World of Warcraft on my SSD and have the SSD set as the D drive in dynamic configuration (i'm not exactly sure what that means).
I put in the windows 7 installation disk, and go through the first few screens. Once it gets to the screen where I choose "where" to install windows 7, the only HD it lets me choose is the old HDD with windows xp on it. The SSD shows up, but I can't choose it!
Is it because I've already used it a bit and installed some programs on it?
If I just take out my old HDD for a bit, will it let me install windows 7 onto the SSD because it's the only possible choice?
i have just wiped off the pre-installed windows that was on my lenovo laptop and installed a clean version of windows 7 home premium 64, can I ask if its better to use the manufacturer branded drivers or are the ones that windows downloads via the updates etc better as they are as intended and "clean" ?

My pc has been acting funny i ran the chkdisk wich begins when you boot up the pc. At some point i knocked the ac adapter out of my notebook without knowing it and it finally went dead in the middle of the chkdisk. It automatically rebooted and gave me the option to repair the harddisk using vista which i upgraded to 7 a couple of years ago and i would choose the the only other option which was start windows normally well every time i would do that win 7 would try to load and right before you get to ur user account icon where you type in your password the pc would reboot and start this same cycle over and over again. Nevertheless when it rebooted again i hit the fn keys like i was a receptionist typin 150 words a min and i think it might have been the f10 key but not sure and this is the list of options that popped up.

I think perhaps there are still two copies of the windows 7 Operating system on the computer. I had to do a reinstall and I assume one was not removed.

View 9 Replies View Relatedrecently my laptop (Toshiba Portege R830) started to freeze on the login screen almost everytime I power it up. As soon as I enter the login screen (the screen where you choose which user you want to log in with), my laptop just plain freezes: nothing works except shutting it down and restarting and praying. But sometimes it works and doesn't freeze, strangely (like right now).When I open my laptop in safe mode, it always work. There isn't any problem at all.I did a chkdsk in the console command screen (the famous cmd.exe) and also checked for any ''integrity problems'' (sfc/scannow I think it was) but it came up with nothing.I know it's vague but this is all I know. Does anyone know what might cause freezes on the login screen when you have to choose user? Personally I'd say this isn't related to hardware since the computer is like 2 or 3 months old, which there isn't much stuff on it right now too. It's also not a virus, I didn't do anything shady (yet) with this laptop.
I also have another small problem with my user folder. It's the default folder located at C:Users/(my name). It has been acting strangely since I had this computer. Sometimes when I delete one of the annoying useless folders like ''Favorites'' or ''Searches'' they don't disappear right away. I have to refresh the page to make it disappear for real, and this is troubling me because I never saw anything like that before. Usually when you delete something, it just goes away instantly. Also, I backup'ed some of the folders in the user folder on an external hard drive and sometimes when I power up my external hard drive some duplicate folders are created, which is so unbelievably annoying since when they keep coming back and I have to refresh everything to confirm I really deleted them
I recently somehow got a nasty virus into my lappy. It was extremely weird since I just bought a new anti-virus (Norton, to be exact) and my PC became super slow. I recognized signs of viruses and I decided to wipe the PC clean. My friend gave two Windows 7 DVDs. However, even after making DVD the first boot order at BIOS it just doesn't work. My DVD rom makes really nasty sounds and it waits on a black screen for a bit and then it shows me to choose safe mode or start normally.
Basically, my PC has always read DVDs (logo on it confirms it). Also, Rom itself isn't broken, other discs like the Norton one work fine. Since the DVDs my friend gave me were DVD R- and DVD RW. Later, I got yet another disc which was DVD R+ but it STILL didn't work. My PC doesn't recognize the DVDs even normally, through My Computer. Did the viruses ruin my drivers or something? My rom always read DVDs but why make weird noises now?
Is there a way to make windows automatically choose "start windows normally" in the case of hard resets? I have a USB monitor hooked to the system and it does not turn on until Windows loads. but if I hard reset by accident or some other reason I can't see the screen that asks what you want to do, this only can be seen when vga/dvi is connected. I know there is a timer for the start normally, but wanted to know if there was a way to make windows not even have to ask and just know to start normally?

This laptop has a Windows media centre edition 2002 cd key sticker attached.I then went on to install vmware and tried to install windows xp mce on it.Now I lost the recovery disk supplied and the laptop manufacturer asked me to pay in order to re-deliver the disk. So I downloaded Windows XP MCE 2005 OEM edition instead but it does not take the cd key I was supplied it with.Here is my question,a. Why isn't the windows accepting my cd key prior to the installation? I thought the cd key supplied from laptop are all OEM copies and I am using the same machine?Could it be due to the different cpu and ram amount allocation? I want to have as primary the ssd with Windows 7 and secondary the original hdd. I mean I want the Hp's Windows 7 version to be installed in my new ssd disk. Ok, I thought I could download Windows 7 original and activate it with my stickers serial. But what about the drivers which are already preintalled? I think it's a classic problem (the "I bought a new laptop, I installed a new ssd and I want to install the original-preinstalled Windows 7 on ssd") but I haven't found a proper solution.
