View 2 RepliesYesterday , randomly , when I turned on the computer I saw nothing but a black screen. It wasn't the black screen of death , looked like a windows black screen but it just wasn't displaying anything. Its almost like windows is operating normally in the background , its just not showing me. When I put the disk in it comes up occasionally and works fine , but when I shut down and turn it back on its back to the same ole thing.
I have windows 7 home premium , 32-bit. I read somewhere that I may need to check the boot order , but I have no idea how to do any of this.

This time however, using the Windows 7 USB DVD Download Tool didn't cut it for me as, even though it was prioritzed in BIOS, nothing would happen and W7 32 bit would just boot like normal.
So I tried to manually set up the bootable flash drive, which also didn't work.
After a lot of searching on google, I learned the problem might have something to do with the bootsector not able to be run on a 32 bit OS. [URL] I used the W7 32 bit version I used on the laptop 2 days ago, and put the bootsector of that version on the flash drive.
Again, this didn't work as the computer would just boot windows 7 32 bit like usual (and again, I adjusted the priority in BIOS) Now I got enough of trying the flash drive to work, I tried burning the ISO file on a DVD using Imgburn.
Burning the DVD went smoothly and I quickly had a DVD with the W7 64 bit installation files. This however, didn't solve anything as (again, prioritzing the DVD) W7 would boot up as usual.

View 1 Replies View Relatedmy computer has Windows XP 32-bit, and i'm trying to do a clean install to Windows 7 64-bit. this is my processor. i'm assuming it can take the 64-bit version. i boot from the disc, press any key, and all the files load and whatnot. i see a screen that says "starting windows", and the logo appears. i figure that's a good sign. but...after that, i get stuck on a screen with nothing but some "desktop wallpaper" and my mouse. it just sits there. i can move my mouse around, but no installation options pop up. i bought the upgrade version of Windows 7, and i'm under the impression that you should be able to do a clean install using those discs. i stuck the 32-bit disc in my drive, and the install menu showed up no problem. but i want to install the 64-bit version.

I've tracked the problem down to a driver - CTMMount.sys which was installed by a recent installation of Comodo Time Machine - which has since been uninstalled but doesnt look like the uninstallation has worked correctly.
Therefore I could do with editing the registry/startup procedure so that this file doesnt attempt to load and then I can get back into Windows 7
I have been given the challenge to make a way to install Windows without any installation media and without having to even touch the computer while it's installing. So far I've made a .wim image with the help of this guide and I've made an Autounattend.xml file with thI put the install.wim image in the sources directory on a flash drive and the Autounattend.xml file in the root of the flash drive, and it does exactly what I want it to - all except it's not on a partition. So I move it to a partition and add a boot entry using EasyBCD. It boots fine, but it acts like the Autounattend.xml file isn't even there. So right now I have the choice of hands free installation with media, or manual installation without media. My main question is why the Autounattend.xml file isn't working when I boot the same media from a partition

After install my sytem wont boot and it says File: ntoskrnl.exeStatus: 0xc0000428Info: Windoes cannot verify the digital signature for this file.My BIOS is the latest for my Gigabyte G31M-ES2C and I formatted the complete hard drive before install using GParted. I have cleared my CMOS memory and I tried reinstalling and repairing the system too. I checked my TwinMos 2GB RAM for errors and it is fine too. Although I am reasonably knowledgable about Windows, I haven't used it since XP, about four years ago, and so am pretty rusty.Basically, my girlfriends computer randomly turned off about a week ago, she assumed it was a dead battery, plugged it in, and then when it turned back on it wouldn't boot displaying error message: missing operating system.As it is a Dell laptop it didn't come with any installation discs, and I totally forgot to even make a repair disc when we got the laptop. I managed to get hold of a Windows 7 Installation Disc and license key for Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit through my university. I think the laptop was previously running Windows 7 Home Premium, but that's all I know, and I'm not entirely sure of that fact.
Anyway, burnt the .iso to disc and have tried to boot several times from DVD Drive. The laptop loads the files from the DVD fine, and gets as far as the "Starting Windows" screen, where it seems to get stuck for a few minutes, until it becomes a black screen with just a cursor (the cursor still moves). This also happens with an 64 bit repair DVD I also managed to get hold of.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have just got Windows 7 Ultimate.I accept the Licence Agreement, set my partitions as i want them but when it gets to the expanding files part it will hang at 0%. This happens on both the 32 & 64 bit disc.This is a brand new purchase which I opened it about an hour ago.The laptop has a 400GB HD and 2GB of ram. It came with Home Prem x64 pre-installed, So the hardware meets the requirements.What seems to be the problem?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI just bought a new hard drive and a brand new Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit disc and I am doing a clean install on the new hard drive. it seems that everything is going normal, but at a random time during the installation, the computer just shuts off.sometimes it doesn't even get to the installation when it shuts off. sometimes it shuts off in the middle of the "windows is loading files..." black screen. there are no beeps when it shuts off or when I turn it back on. there are also no error codes.whenever i turn it back on it simply acts as if it never tried to install windows and starts the boot all over from the disc
View 9 Replies View RelatedSo i have a new SSD Corsair Force 3 240 gig and all I want to do is install Windows 7 Pro on it. This board does not support parted magic (cannot wake from sleep and there are no onboard video to wake up to) so ive resorted to clean all.I have not been able to successfully boot the OS on the SSD. I never intended on setting up raid but apparently all the literature i see is on raid. I created a USB install disk as reccomended onto a 8gig ntfs primary active did the bootsect /nt60 X: and it successfully worked copied the cd over to the flash drive and copied the rste drivers in a folder called drivers My SSD is installed on port 1 6gig sata intel (as this board doesnt have marvel apparrently) My DVD is installed on 3gig Sata port 6 I set up Raid in the bios as reccomended by others (as this is the only way to install ssd?).
Nothing UEFI is enabled There are no other drives hooked up to the computer. I am installing Windows 7 (Custom installation initiated from Windows XP) but I get the following error message when the installation is on the "Installing updates" step of the installation:
"Setup cannot continue due to a corrupted installation file. Contact the vendor of your Windows installation disc or your system administrator for assistance."
Do you have any idea what the problem may be with the installation? Is there a way to see what file that may be corrupted?
I have tried to burn the DVD in low speed, but the error appears anyway. I have a MSI K8T Neo2-Fir mainboard and the Windows 7 upgrade advisor application says that my hardware is okay for upgrading.
First, my laptop is a Aspire 5250-BZ853. I received it back in October, I think...may've been earlier. But anyhow, it was working just fine yesterday until I did a Windows Update. I had to restart, and it was fine again. But then it began running sluggishly slow, and just terrible overall so I restarted it once more and that was when the problems began.
This entire day, this has been driving me nuts. I have important files on here, and I backed up most on my external harddrive a bit ago but there were a few I missed and hadn't the chance to get (ironically enough the most important, papers and such.) At first, it said my password was wrong -- as if someone had changed it! I restarted it once more, thinking it an error or something, and did that again so I restarted it again. Finally, it worked but I think it logged me in as safe mode somehow. After that, it restarted on its own and began this loop. I did a LOT of searching on Google until finally someone suggested to someone else to try pressing "ALT + F10" I think it was as it was starting, and finally I made progress. Before that, it was just going into a constant rebooting loop and I couldn't even log into safe mode. Trying to reset it back to a time it was working was futile, because it said there was no recovery time there! So that shot that idea down. At last, I got somewhere.as well. I clicked the reset to factory settings, but still keep all the files (and they would be saved to "C:Backup" and I thought it had finally worked. But now as it reinstalls, I got an error saying something about how it needed to restart or something...so when I clicked "okay" it began again, and finally it all just came to a stop on "Windows could not complete the installation. To install Windows on this computer, restart the installation."
I just recently upgrade my system's OS from Win XP to Win 7 but I'm facing some problems with my Win 7. Whenever I boot up my system without my GPU installed, it boots up just fine. But as soon as I install my GPU i.e., GT 240, Windows 7 doesn't respond after "Starting Windows" screen or simply fails to boot. I also faced the similar problem while installing my Windows 7. I resolved that one by removing my GPU while installation.

Now when i load it in any mode (safe mode freezes after avg file) It will go to a black screen or a 0xc0000009 I/O error message.I've run it in start up repair and there aren't any system restore points available and start up repair took 17 hours before i decided to turn it off! What is going on!? My hardware doesn't make any strange sounds and my bios recognises my Hard Drive.Luckily, there's nothing important on the laptop so i don't mind if we have to reset it to factory settings as i have the Windows 7 installation disc as well!

I tried safe mode with and without networking as well as the startup repair and system restore options.Startup Repair basically said that it couldn't repair this computer automatically and this: [code] System Restore said that it couldn't access a file and something about anti-virus as well as "An unspecified error occurred duing System Restore. i opened PC and removed the CPU battery and tried, result was same
i removed RAM and installed again. same result
i removed all the datacard to dvd,hdd, and floopy same result.
No new softrware, no new hardware, I have not made any changes to it at all. I turned it on yesterday and after the Dell logo, it went to a black screen with a blinking cursor on top left.I turned it on and off a few times with no change. I finally got into the diagnostic screen (F8)and it did a thorough scan of all hardware. It came up clean. I shut it off and turned it back on again and Windows finally came up. I then did a scan of all windows files and that came up clean. After that I did a system restore and didnt have anymore issues with Win 7 booting up. Then about 45 mins ago I turned on the laptop and AGAIN the black screen came up with the blinking. I have no clue what else to check. I could call the place where I bought it from and Im sure their crack team would most likely find the problem only after giving up the laptop for 2 weeks which is what i was trying to avoid.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI burned the .iso windows 7 file onto a Sony DVD using Active@ ISO at 4x burn speed. Everything went fine with the burn and then i put my dvd burner (HL-DT-ST DVD+-RW GSA-H31N) as the first in my bios and then restart, but then it doesn't boot...
I don't think the DVD is the problem as i put it into my mac and it shows the 2.36GB that the windows 7 .iso file is supposed to be. But interesting enough it doesn't show in vista and every time i click on the dvd the computer freezes up.
Also i tried a dvd earlier and it booted up but it didn't work (i didn't realize that the dvd was only 702mb...)
Any help? Suggestions?
Everything was working fine till last night.When i switched on the laptop today the system started rebooting infinite times.whatever i enter the system keeps on rebooting.No use with startup repair,it stalls the entire system on clicking.Unable to boot from CD too.

View 1 Replies View Relatedsomehow my hard disk partition became dynamic. i formatted system and insttaled windows 7 ultimate in the dynamic disk partition.from then onwards system is not booting. only black screen with cursor on the upper left corner of the black screen.if i am not wrong windows 7 cannot boot with dynamic disk. i will have to go to the disk management and after conversion of dynamic disk to basic disk with deleting all the volumes (data). it is possible to boot withwindows 7. but system is not booting...not opening..so i cannot go to disk management.hrad disk is showing some partitions with system reserved.except system reserved all the partitions are shwoing dynamic.and in only one partition formatting option and installing OS option is coming while i booting system with OS DVD.
reinstalltion through OS DVD is possble by booting through OS DVD. but in advanced option repartition option is not coming. the one partition in which i installed OS previously, only in that formatting option is coming.in other partition neither formating option is coming nor extend.
