View 20 Replies View RelatedI have a problem (though I think it is minor because my system recovers quite well from it after restarting). Basically, I overclocked my CPU to 4.19 gHz and everything is running smoothly (also got a Radeon 7770 HD graphics card) so I decided to redo my WEI score and close to the end of the CPU test the computer crashed and went to the blue screen of death before restarting again. Everything seems fine with my computer but I'm not sure what the problem might be. [code]

i own dell vostro 1400, c2d 1.6ghz, 4 gb ddr2 ram (2x2gb), windows 7 ultimate 32 bits.
i was very happy with the performance but suddenly it has become extremely slow to use. it becomes quite unresponsive even for simple tasks like watching Internet in browser. i check windows experience index and found out that processor and memory subscores are very low.
it shows 2.1 for processor and 2.8 memory.
I have sony Vaio VPCEC290X before Windows Experience Index was 5.1 but now it reduced to 3.5 i have update to latest bios a i have check power settings cleaned laptop dust also but the score is still 3.5 what might be the problem i have contact sony care also they checked and told nothing problem with your hardware
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm curious to see what kind of numbers people have gotten for the primary hard disk data transfer rate. Under Vista I scored 5.9 on all tests as it was as high as the numbers would go.
After a clean install of Windows 7 Ultimate, I was quite surprised to find my primary hard disk score remained at a 5.9. My boot drive is made up of 2 10,000RPM cheetah SATA drives in a RAID stripe (RAID0). I'm wondering if this test is still maxed out at 5.9. If you got higher than 5.9, what kind of drive are you using? I'm sure SSD's score higher.
Several weeks back I started getting an error every time I ran the WEI in one of my computers. It would stop near the end of its run with the following error:The Windows Experience Index for Your System Could Not be Computed Could not measure storage performance.Error: Failed to properly asses the disk. The parameter is incorrect.(Parameter ??? There's nothing I like better than a nice cryptic explanation)And get this... Today I ran the WEI on my 2nd computer and now it's producing this same error. And yet, both computer's HDDs check out fine, There are no flags in Device Manager, and no problems elsewhere.I haven't done anything pertaining to the HDD in either machine. If I remember correctly, I noticed the problem after swapping the graphics cards between machines, although I can't understand why that would affect the HDD error in WEI. In both instances I did a clean re-install of the latest drivers. Both systems are kept clean of garbage and both are running Win7x64.

When the PC came, it had a rating of 4.5, the lowest being the Gaming graphics section. Right now, that section is 4.2 and has established the baseline. I did the custom option and wiped my entire hard disk, created new partitions according to my need and installed the windows on a newly created and formatted partition.
Before I began installation, I backed up a folder called 'drivers' located in the root folder of the OS partition. This is what I used to update all of my drivers after the installation.
My PC is a Dell Latitude E5410. - Operating System Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate x86 - PC's hard drive capacity is about 240 GB but when it came it only had a single partition of 116 GB - I don't have the original disks that came with the PC.
Is there any way I can get back to my original rating?
When I run the WEI I receive an error that says video playback cannot be completed. I have updated all video drivers. I have a NVIDIA GEForce GTS 250. Below is a copy of the error log.

View 0 Replies View RelatedI have never gotten this to work on any of my desktop computers once I upgrade them. On the laptops, it runs fine every time. View 3 Replies View RelatedI ran the Windows Experience Index on the PC I just built and in the part that tells you the amount of RAM you have installed, it says nothing.
Installed Memory (RAM): (Blank)
However, it did give me a rating of 7.4 for the RAM section. (6 Gigs of OCZ DDR3 1600 )
Is this something to worry about?
I previously had vista installed and it performed smoothly.I did a Windows 7(x64) clean install and i kept getting the usual "cannot complete the assessment error".

View 3 Replies View RelatedVery little, all the parts were shipped here about four days ago and I spent a couple of hours putting them together. I ran into a hiccup when Windows 7 Home Premium would not get past the extracting phase of the installation, kicking up the error in this thread. I began the first install on a 20GB partition, when that failed I tried just installing it on a single partition. When that failed I tried removing all the partitions and just installing on the unformatted drive, in it's entirety (seemed weird but others said they had luck with this).Testing Methodology:
At the end of each attempted solution I tried to install Windows again. My keyboard is a USB keyboard. All of my boot testing is done with a bootable USB that I have running MS-DOS 6.22. What I Have Tried:Solution 1: First I went into the bios and changed the SATA controller from AHCI to Raid SATA Result = FAILEDSolution 2: I tried burning OEM Windows disk from Microsoft to an iso at the lowest speed possible for my DVD burner (4x).Result = FAILEDSolution 3: At this point I had created and deleted so many partitions I was concerned it may be having an effect on the install. So I went to Samsung's website and grabbed their HDD utility tool. I figured let's kill two birds with one stone and test the drive while also restoring it to it's original state. So I did a low level format and then ran the HDD diagnostic. All came back with no errors. Result = FAILED
On to memory...Solution 4: I downloaded Microsoft's Memory Diagnostic Tool and let it run overnight. It returned no errors. So I decided to use MemTest86 4.1 and let it run for 10 passes, I did find errors then. As of now I am running each module of memory one by one to determine if it is a problem with them or the sockets on the motherboard. So far I have been unable to reproduce the errors I got when both modules were running together. As a precaution I double checked the motherboards specifications on the socket order for memory, all is to specs. Result = [PENDING]What's Next:After my current memory test ends, I plan on checking my BIOS to see if the correct memory speeds were detected in the auto detection. If at that point I'm still unable to reproduce the memory errors, I'll put both memory modules back into the system and run the testing again to see if I can reproduce the errors I got the first time.
Yesterday I had a PC technician around to see why my PC was not booting-up properly and also to change my SSD to a larger SSD. As I am visually challenged I cannot do hardware upgrades etc, so I got a Techie guy in. We used Zinstall HDD by-the-way and I would highly recommend this application for such a job plus, it is extremely fast.Anyway, while he was diagnosing my boot-up issue he discovered I had a malfunctioning network card; while removing this, he noticed all the SATA settings were set to SATA 2.When he reset these to SATA 3, the PC would not start-up! When he set them again to SATA 2 there was no problem and it worked fine?

View 4 Replies View Relatedi purchased a Silicon SiI3512 SATA Raid Controller purely to have 2 extra SATA ports which I am using to connect to my case's external drive bays. I have flashed the bios of the controller and updated the driver to put it in "Base" mode so it is not using RAID. I did extensive research on this and it appears that I have this part right. For now, I am trying to connect a WD1600BEVT 2.5" SATA-II hard drive to one of these ports and am having some difficulty. I can see the drive, but when I try to format the drive in Windows, or a command prompt (using the windows recovery DVD) it hangs. I am wondering if this is a compatibility issue with a SATA-II drive on a SATA-I controller, however, most of the forums I have read state that if there is a compatibility issue, the controller won't even recognize the drive. I searched around to see if there was a way to force the HDD to SATA(150), but the jumpers on this drive are for SSC and RPS. Is there a way to fix this or do I need a drive that is capable of forcing SATA-I speeds? Perhaps even a controller capable of at least SATA-II since that is the minimum of all new HDDs?
