Windows 7 Cdusb Freezes While Loading Files-booting?
Aug 9, 2009
Windows 7 started to hang on loading screen, just before colored balls show up. So I put in windows 7 cd, made sure boot order was correct in bios, attempted to run repair, but cd loads to a black screen. So i make a bootable usb for win 7 try the same thing but it gets stuck at windows loading files. So I make a recovery cd on another computer with win7 as OS. Same problem. So I do memtest, surface test, everything checks out fine.
This whole time ubuntu will boot fine (Ive had dual boot working fine for over a year). I use ubuntu to get all the files I need of the host machine and use mini tools partition wizard to wipe the hdd thinking maybe i need a fresh install of win7. Same problem persists with failure of cd and usb of win 7. Trying a bootable usb of ubuntu, it works no problem, OS boots everything, flawless.
I continue to try to get windows working because i need it to remote in for work. On oddity is that if it the first time i boot the computer for the day the windows cd boots and i can install the OS but on the first restart it hangs at the same spot as above. This screams power supply issue, so I wipe the hdd again and swap in a new psu. Windows cd boots, installs, loads fine. I install chrome, steam, quicken, rename the computer which requires restart! and then it fails at the same spot. In retrospect I should have used to good boot to install chipset drivers, unfortunately i am yet to be able to get back into the OS via any means. Other things I have tried:
-Boot to cd with HDD disconnected.
-Boot to usb with dvd disconnected.
-Update Bios to latest version.
-Wipe the hdd with minitools, turn off computer, take battery out of mobo to reset cmos. Still no dice.
My problem with all of this is that the whole time ubuntu can install and works fine. I want this to be a hardware issue, but i can't figure it out. Only thing i can figure is its chipset drivers? But I need to be able to install the OS to run the asus installer.

I just put this computer together (check out my specs) and put the OS DVD in to install. It goes through the motions of "loading files" and then when it says "starting windows" it gets just to the point where you can see all 4 colored orbs and it freezes. How do I fix this issue and install windows 64bit?

I've been trying to install Windows 7 for days now...with no luck at all so far...and I'm getting quiet frustrated as you can imagine.
The installation always stops after the installer loads the files, screen freezes on the windows logo, and the progress bar stops immediately stops moving (or it freezes even before the logo is even fully displayed). The DVD then stops and no matter how long I wait nothing happens from there. If I run the text mode install, it stops on disk.sys.
I've looked everywhere on the net and tried many things:
unplugged anything not necessary during install (all usb, got rid of sound card, tried another graphic card, removed ram, switched ram position)
cleared cmos, no change
bios: disabled all unecessary (floppy (I don't use any) enabled/disabled parallel/serial port (for some it was a fix on other mobo's...or so I have read), messed around with lots of settings
tried other DVD drive, burned another DVD.
Now this issue isn't new to me, since I have never been able to install vista either. xp and ubuntu gave me a lot of problems too, but with xp pressing F7 during the initial loading would solve the issue and the install would run fine, on ubuntu adding no acpi would also allow install. With vista and windows 7 setup, pressing F7 during the file load doesn't apparently work, and I don't know how to bypass the acpi check.
If I try to run the install within xp, I get a compatibility report saying that my computer isn't acpi compatible...while the k7s8x bios clearly says it is. I tried enabling/disabling the acpi in the bios and it makes no difference (my bios is the last available, the 2.60)
I have seen people asking for k7s8x lan drivers for windows 7 on this forum, so I guess it is possible to install vista/windows 7 on this mobo after all.
Any suggestions welcome, as I'm completely out of ideas now!

I recently finished building my custom pc, and tried installing Windows 7 Home Premium on it. I got to where it says "Windos is loading files", the white bar filled up, then it would repeat but slower. So far so good, but then it took me to the screen with the background, where one would normally log in to a user account, but it was completely blank, except for the cursor. So I rebooted the PC and tried reistalling it, and then after the "Windows is loading files" screens, it just gave me a blank black screen with only the cursor visable. I tried this several times but always got the same result. Now, i just the blue screen of death. When i don't boot from the CDROM, my computer freezes at "Verifying DMI Pool Data....." I tried resetting my CMOS, but that didn't change anything, so i'm pretty sure I'm getting that message because there's no operating system because Windows 7 won't seem to finish its installation. The HDD i bought said it came prepared for Windows 7 so there shouldn't have to be any formatting or whatnot done. I am thoroughly perplexed

Computer is a couple years old, self built, no issues. Watching hulu and suddenly there's a crackling sound, a flash of light, and screen freezes (not bsod, just total freeze). No biggie, reboot. Won't reboot. Get's to "Starting Windows" and freezes.
Figured it's a ram or hard drive issue. Long story short, quick trip to Fry's, put in brand new hard drive & one stick of brand new ram (completely took out old ram and old hard drives). Took out wireless card, unplugged all usb, except for new usb (wired) keyboard.
Put in Window's installation DVD, boot from CDRom, it gets to "Windows is loading files" and about the third time it completes a status bar, it freezes there. I've rebooted a few times, same issue. Swapped out the one new ram for the second stick that came in the pack, same thing.
So...not hard drive, not ram, not wireless card, not any usb thingy plugged in, system temps have been fine lately. Based on the sudden noise/flash seems like a hardware thing, but can't pinpoint.
System Specs: Antec case, corsair 750W power supply, Gigabit UDP3 motherboard, intel i5-750, evga GeForce GTX260 vid card, and as of tonight a corsair 4gb ddr3 1333x ram, and wd caviar green 1tb hard drive.
I'm going to try to take out the video card (pita) in the mean time.

2x2gb ram
Intel Core i430M
ATI Radeon 5850
Seagate 500 GB
When I try to boot it gets stuck at the windows 7 loading screen with the Windows logo blinking like usual loading. Tried leaving it on for 30 minutes, nothing happened. Safe mode gets to the loading windows files part and freezes there.First I attempted to use the System Recovery CD it kept on till the loading screen then freezed just like the OS boot. Same thing with installation disk.I don't know how they work, if one or them are the primary stick or whatever. I tried swapping them, still same problem.Hard disk works just fine connected to my other computer as slave.
Got some of the boot cd programs to work --
Mem86
Windows Memory Diagnostics
HDDUM SMART viewer
Seagate SeaTools
All passed.
So nothing is wrong with my RAM or hard drive?Today, Saturday, I transferred the stuff worth keeping on this disk, and reformatted it. Still same problem when I boot the installation CD!

I was attempting to run chkdsk and went into Safe Mode -- no problems discovered. However, since then whenever I boot / reboot laptop Safe Mode screens reappear. Thinking back I don't recall any guidelines from any Win7 tech sites advising turning off Safe Mode. So, I initially assumed Safe Mode automatically reverted to the prior mode -- apparently an incorrect assumption. How do I get back to Normal Windows Start Up for Win7 Home Premium x64?
I got out of Safe Mode to restart somehow -- ESC key -- I did not force quit by turning off. Since then system now starts by scrolling thru 2-3 screens of "Loading: ... (various driver drive locations / various names)" and then Win 7 login screen comes in with Password box.
Everything else is running fine now except I suspect I need to go back to boot Safe Mode screen and turn Safe Mode off -- return it back to Start Win 7 Normally.

on first install of windows 7 (and XP when I was using it) the comp ran fine booted in less than 30secs, but over the couple of weeks it just keeps getting slower and slower now it can take anywhere between 3-5min.
once it has booted to windows log on screen it takes all of a secound to load.
I built my and my brothers comps, there both using the same Mobo/CPU I have 4GB (he has 2GB) but his computer boots faster than mine.
no problems once the comp has started apart from certain settings wont save like where I leave my Icons on DT, and screens staying maximized.
would give boot log but cant remember how to get it...

OK I just built my first computer and everything was beautiful until I used the card reader on my printer. This added the USB card reader on the printer to the boot drive sequence and now Windows 7 freezes about every other time when I do a cold start up (it doesn't affect sleep startups).YES, I did go into the BIOS and disable the printer USB drive in the boot sequence but it did not fix the problem. NO I did not add the Printer card reader to the boot sequence, the motherboard did it automatically for some reason.
Before this bug appeared my system was booting in less than 25 seconds from the time I pressed the start button on the computer - the Corsair GT is a very fast SSD and it makes the OS fly. Here is my system:
CPU: 2600K
Mother Board: AsRock Z68 Extreme 4 Gen 3
SSD: Corsair GT Force 3
HDD 1: Samsung F3 Spinpoint 1 TB
HDD 2: Hitachi 1.5 TB
Optical 1: Asus DVD drive (the $20 one on Newegg)
Optical 2: Lighton Blu-Ray burner
CPU cooler: Noctua NH-D14
Everything on the computer works except for this card reader interference with the booting sequence. It may have corrupted a file, I am not sure - Windows Repair says it cannot fix the issue and that if I "recently plugged in a audio player or USB device, unplug it and restart windows."I would rather not do a clean install and because I have an SSD I do not have System Restore enabled.

I just turned on an almost new build pc to install windows 7. The entire pc is a new build except the hard drive that has a good copy of xp installed. I am trying to install a new copy of windows 7 on the hard drive. So I turned the pc on and go into the bios to set the DVD to boot first. So windows starts to install and the window is loading bar comes up. After the bar gets over half full, the screen drops and there is a line of h's on the left side of the screen and the installation freezes.

Computer Stats: 2009 Macbook Pro running Windows 7 Ultimate x32 via boot camp, all drivers up to date as of last night, no non-factory parts or tampering with any system files. Issue: Around a month ago, I noticed my laptop freeze up whenever I left it unattended for more than half an hour. Sometimes it would lag for 30 seconds or so and then be fine, sometimes I would have to reboot entirely. This happened again two days ago and upon rebooting it became stuck during the animation at the "windows loading" screen. I restarted and used F8 to pull up the advanced boot menu, chose "system repair", and it went through two loading screens before presenting a black screen of death that never seems to change. Booting in safe mode works, which I've used to scour the internet for fixes and ways to get incredibly drunk. Attempted Fixes: A full system virus scan (duration: 13 hours) with Kaspersky, Malware Bytes, and Panda. Nothing was returned save a few false-positives from torrents (only trusted trackers, nothing dodgy file-wise). Used the "repair my computer" option at F8'd start-up multiple times to no avail. Used "sfc/scannow" twice, which downloaded some windows updates but didn't fix anything. Yelled really loudly at computer and raised my hand as if to smack it, intimidating it into submission but not fixing core issue.
Here is the result of my bootlog, but before that I'll note that it hangs on "Loaded driver SystemRootsystem32DRIVERSCLASSPNP.SYS" for about thirty seconds when loading in safe mode. I thought that might have been the root and downloaded another copy of classpnp.sys, but again it didn't change anything:
Quote: Loaded driver SystemRootsystem32DRIVERSCLASSPNP.SYS
Did not load driver @hal.inf,%acpiapic.devicedesc%;ACPI x86-based PC
Did not load driver @battery.inf,%*compbatt.devicedesc%;Microsoft Composite Battery
Did not load driver @battery.inf,%*compbatt.devicedesc%;Microsoft Composite Battery
[Code].....
edit: I made a system recovery disk and attempted to use both its automatic fix feature and its "detect memory problems" feature. Both came back completely fine. Nothing has changed.
edit: Startup Repair has verified that the root cause is a driver. However, I've no idea which one. Surely that's contained somewhere in the bootlog.

my laptop belonged to my brother and had very little use, he gave it to me and i put norton security on it, whenever i load a site with a few pictures it freezes and a message on the bottom of the screen says loading an ad (not always the same one, a few different ones). i don't use the computer a lot, mainly i like to check the news (used to anyway) but now it just freezes and i cant click on anything. sometimes if i start it up and shut it down a few times it does work but this is very time consuming. also ebay does not work, just freezes when i click on a picture. strangely enough my son likes Internet and this works perfectly, you can view videos with no interruptions.

I just got a copy of windows 7(64-bit ultimate, because its from my college its the upgrade version) and I'm having some install troubles. The installation keeps freezing right when it finishes loading the dvd.
Currently on windows xp. We know the dvd works (tried it in a different computer) and the dvd drive in this system works (tried using different operating systems). I can move the mouse around, and no keyboard shortcuts appear to work. I had the windows 7 beta installed a ways back, so I know the OS works on this system.

Anyway, I have recently installed a new heat sink, gpu, and ram and after I turn the computer on, it posts, goes to the windows 8 logo, loads for about 5-10 seconds, and then freezes. it even does this when I go to the bios. I checked the temps of my cpu to see if it was overheating for some reason but it was running at 23 Celsius, so I have reason to believe it could be heating problems with the gpu. But I don't fully believe that is the case either.
specs:
cpu: amd phenom II x6 1050
gpu: sapphire radeon 6870
Heatsink: CM hyper 212 plus
PSU: corsair cs600 builder series
RAM: corsair vengeance 8gb (2x4)

I have read a lot on this getting stuck. I had an issue with it getting stuck, so I had HP to send me the recovery disks and I backed everything up and did a clean install. It did its thing and now it is at the Windows is loading files screen. Bad news is, it has been on this screen since last night at around 8:00 (12 hrs), Good news is, it has been moving. I put a sticky note on the progress bar, even this morning it has moved about a half an inch. Should I be worried or just patient? It said it may take up to 3 hours and it has been 12 hours.

I have compaq presario sr1630nx and I have an issue that started after I opened the case and used my compressor to blow the dust out of it its not the first time ive done this like 4 times to be exact. My machines issue starts when I turn it on the fans go on but the cpu fan runs the loudest and it displays nothing other attempts it turns on normal but still nothing on the display. After idk the twentieth attempt of turning on and off it finally boots up normally, but I cant do nothing major like go on the web to long because it freezes right away. i could listen to music but it will eventually freeze after fifteen minutes or the display will turn to an orange or blue screen. The pc does have some upgrades like a graphics card for two dvi inputs and power supply which were done about a year ago.

My computer would start to boot up"Windows is loading files" and get stuck. I would have to do a hard shut down after it sticks there for an hour. Anyhow, it would eventually boot up, all though one time I got a BSOD Stop: 21C error. For the past 3 days, no sound is coming out of my speakers. All of a sudden it is coming out of my HDMI monitor instead, I went and bought new speakers because I thought they had died. It is still doing it though. Even if I plug headphones in the front jack, I get nothing.
