View 1 Replies View RelatedThe drive will recognize a recorded disc and display and pla ythe contents. If I put in a blank disc, it will pop up the "What do you want to do" window and will start the process by allowing you to choose as USB or Data disc and will allow you to name the disc. The DVD window opens but you can not Drag and drop. Highlighting the files and clicking burn, copy and paste or send to options do not work either. The computer will just ding like it received an incorrect command. I do have a CD/DVD burning software program installed and it works to burn discs. I had not used it before today. This came installed on the system. I have not installed, deleted, downloaded or made any changes to my system. One day the disc burning function in Windows 7 worked and the next day it didn't. I ran the troubleshooter for burning discs and it said everything was fully functional. I prefer the Windows 7 option to running a separate program. I have rebooted and I also tried a rollback to a previous date. Nothing has worked.
The computer is HP and is about 1 yr old. It came with Windows 7 home premium. This is not an upgrade from a different operating system. I am very technical, but this has me stumped.
Says "finishing" but never does. If I reboot the computer and start again its ok but I dont like wasting a blank DVD every time.

View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen I burn a 3.5GB RAR File using Windows 7's built-in burner, it's always getting "stuck" at random parts of the process. Sometimes, it gets stuck at the middle of the process, sometimes towards the end, and etc. When it gets stuck, you will see that the rate (KB/s) will not vary and it is constant. I use a LG Hitachi GBW-T10N Bluray Combo Drive with my laptop and it has the latest firmware UN09. Why is this so?By the way, this doesn't happen when I burn using ImgBurn.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have 2 versions of windows; 7 Home Premium and Ultimate ...both are 64 Bit.
I have a Lite-On eSAU108 Black Slim External DVD Burner which works flawlessly on my laptop running windows Ultimate 64Bit. I just built myself a new system and wanted to use my external dvd burner rather than an internal drive
When i plug the burner into my rear usb 2.0 ports on my home premium version of windows 7 i have installed on my desktop it wont even detect the eSAU108 USB burner!
My initial thought is that I have a driver issue. Im fully updated with all my hardware except the motherboard BIOS and windows 7 home premium is fully updated.
i'm having this problem lately with my burner it won't write, but when I burn a cd it burns fine. its a (tsstcorp cddvdw ts-L633c) i tried using cyberlink its burn for a while but after verifiying it...it fails and pop-out the dvd and there's no burn mark on the dvd. i also tried using this software nero and magiciso same problem it ejects the dvd. I also tried using different dvd, dvd-r and dvd+r nothings change same problem occurs... i tried uninstalling, update, delete the upper, burn it with the lowest speed, still it won't burn. i'm using window 7 home basic.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm having a problem with the Windows 7 CD burner when trying to burn a data CD-R or CD-RW in Mastered (CDFS) format (Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit). Whenever I use a new or blank disc and then select the Mastered option, when I re-insert the CD after burning it says it's in UDF format. What is more, I then have problems trying to open or copy files from the CD - files won't open.
Bad block errors in the event viewer etc. These errors are seen when trying to use the CD on any computer, including the one it was recorded on, and I've tried several different makes, types and speeds of disc. I can record in CDFS format using the Windows 7 CD burner if the CD already contains files which were recorded in that format using a 3rd party application or another computer.
This is happening on two Windows 7 computers. I have considered using the Live File format (UDF) instead, but when using Windows 7's burner to format the disc it reduces its capacity by about 130MB and the data won't fit any more. I know I can use other CD burning software (and already do), but there are occasions when the Windows burner is the simplest option, so I'd like to get it to work properly.
It is super cool.but the software does not support blu ray burning! Is there any free blu ray burner programs that are very good!
View 3 Replies View RelatedI did a fresh install of Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit from a DVD with no problems. Once Windows 7 booted, Device Manager saw the drive and the proper model number. Says it was working properly. I could even flash the firmware. What I can't do, is eject the tray or see the disc. I can't eject manually or via Windows 7. And Windows 7 doesn't see the Windows 7 Ultimate DVD stuck inside.
I flashed the firmware w/ Vista 64-bit firmware, Vista 64-bit from the previous version, XP, Vista 32-bit...didn't matter.
So I bought a brand new Sony drive people on Newegg had zero problems with in Windows 7. Just installed it and I have the same problem!!!!
Both drives are SATA. I have 2 SATA HDDs as well. The order shouldn't matter with SATA right? Still I changed the DVD drive to be first in the chain, rather than 2nd, but that didn't help either.
my dvd burner is not working after switching to windows 7

View 9 Replies View RelatedHas anyone been able to get the VirtualXP environment to see a physical DVD burner as a burner, rather than just a DVD drive?
I've configured the setting to use my physical F: drive which is a LG DVD burner. However any software I have loaded into VirtualXP does not recognize this drive as a burner.
I can put a DVD in the physical drive and access it via the virtual environment. That part works just fine. But no burning capability.
I guess this would be moot if I could get Nero to install on Windows 7/64.
I purchased a LITEON DVD 8X Burner , with lightScribe technology but it did not come with any instructions on how to actually make a label using the DVD burner

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy uncles laptop burner is acting like storage device. The icon on computer is a storage device icon. Every time he inserts a DVD movie it doesn't auto play, in windows media player you would usually see the DVD on the side but you see it as storage device icon which you can't play it. The only way to play it is by playing the .vob file on the DVD. I checked device manager and i found the burner is in the disk drive section which is really strange. Any ideas on how solving this?Details: Toshiba Satellite Pro L500
View 4 Replies View RelatedBy mistake, I purchased an Sony IDE DVD burner/writer with no cables from a discount store in Toronto. I can't return the item. I got an IDE to SATA adapter, connected everything and fired up and I get the power to the drive as I can open the DVD drawer, but the machine first gets stuck at the HP splash screen on my HP Compaq dx2300 mini tower, offering me standard options to enter the BIOS setings. If I don't do anything, machine continues to boot into Windows 7 with no further problems because secondary booting device is hard drive right after CD which is primary (as set up in BIOS by HP factory), but you can't use that brand new Sony IDE DVD burner.
How to make the machine recognize it? I set the jumper on the IDE DVD burner to MASTER, but some people on internet say you should remove the jumper completely and let the machine sort it out. Also, in control panel under 'Device Manager' it says I have IDE ATA/ATAPI channels 0 and 1 working properly. To me, it seems also like I have an IDE 40-pin connector on the motherboard. In BIOS however, all I see is 4 SATA ports although if I go into any of them, there is an option to auto-detect IDE hard drives. The only thing is that I don't need IDE hard drive detection, but IDE DVD-RW drive detection. Are there any differences between setting up IDE optical drives versus setting up IDE hard drives. Do I even have to be concerned about BIOS?
Does anyone know how to make an eject button on the desktop for the CD Burner? My CD Burner's button is recalcitrant and I'd prefer not to have to start up my Nero to eject the disk.

I am not sure if the problem with my DVD burner is a software related one or a hardware related one. I am using HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GH22NS70 SCSI CdROM device. Of late, most of the times when I am trying to burn a disc, it shows Program Memory Area Update Failure. The errors are random. At times I can burn 2-3 discs before the error pops up. At times it happens during burning the first disc. The type of files I am burning also has no effect as the error occurred as I attempted to write various types of disc.I sed ImgBurn and Nero but the problem persisted.
Samsung DVD writer [slim external] model no. SE- S084C. OS is win7 starter after connecting the drive through USB port, PnP installs hardware and when i go to "computer" it "sees" the drive (until i insert a disk and close the drawer) when i insert the installation disk that came with my unit, the drive is unable
to read the disk. it just sits there making whirling noises, the green light blinks off and on and the drive icon that normally appears when i open "computer", disappears whenever i close the drive with a disk in it. the drive icon will occassionaly appear briefly and then disappear again. is this a driver/firmware issue or a "win7 does not support " issue.
