Can't Read Disks With Samsung Slim External Burner
Aug 20, 2011
Samsung DVD writer [slim external] model no. SE- S084C. OS is win7 starter after connecting the drive through USB port, PnP installs hardware and when i go to "computer" it "sees" the drive (until i insert a disk and close the drawer) when i insert the installation disk that came with my unit, the drive is unable
to read the disk. it just sits there making whirling noises, the green light blinks off and on and the drive icon that normally appears when i open "computer", disappears whenever i close the drive with a disk in it. the drive icon will occassionaly appear briefly and then disappear again. is this a driver/firmware issue or a "win7 does not support " issue.
i cant get the computer to reconize the burner it will show a green light open and close and i can hear it turning but it isnt being reconized by my computer it did work one time and hasnt done it since
i'm having this problem lately with my burner it won't write, but when I burn a cd it burns fine. its a (tsstcorp cddvdw ts-L633c) i tried using cyberlink its burn for a while but after verifiying it...it fails and pop-out the dvd and there's no burn mark on the dvd. i also tried using this software nero and magiciso same problem it ejects the dvd. I also tried using different dvd, dvd-r and dvd+r nothings change same problem occurs... i tried uninstalling, update, delete the upper, burn it with the lowest speed, still it won't burn. i'm using window 7 home basic.
I just got a Liteon DVD Burner and Player it was working fine yesterday, no problems, now the drive isn't being recognized.. what happened, The light comes on and you hear that its running but my comp says that there is no drive there.... i was watching a movie last night and was working at 1 am
I purchased an external cd dvd burner off of ebay and it is not recognized on my computer do I need to get software? I don't see a brand name anywhere on here and am trying to burn a cd.

well i've got a dvd burner that i can hook up to my rig via a usb port i was wondering if i can install windows via that or do i need an internal dvd burner/reader in order to install the os?
OK so since I have installed a fresh copy of Windows 7 on this computer ( it is the first operating system installed on it) I can not write any DVDs .A strange fact is that I can write and read CDs and also read DVDs, but not every time.I got an original CD Album and it's still not recognized by the PC for example, and this happens to many audio CDs.I tried many registry tricks and stuff like that but in vain. The computer is new, bought it one month ago. DVD+RW - Sony Optiaric AD-7260SI also tired to resolve the problem with FixIt but it was also useless.I kept getting the message: "The disc in drive [E:] is not detected, or is not supported"
my dvd drive wont read any disks, im running windows 7 64 bit, i have tried the options below but still no luck i have had a search on here and tried this to fix it:
- execute regedit - search the key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetControlClass{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} - delete Upperfilter and lowerfilter entries. - Reboot your system.
there was no upper-filter or lower filters to delete, i have also had a look in properties and it says the dvd drive is working fine,iv tried to uninstall it and restart still have the same problem?
When I tried to burn images to disk earlier today using FreeStudio Free Disk Burner my DVD RW drive started making strange pulsating griding noises. Now it can't read disks. It can open and close by pressing the button and by via windows too but can't read or write any more.
I have 2 versions of windows; 7 Home Premium and Ultimate ...both are 64 Bit.
I have a Lite-On eSAU108 Black Slim External DVD Burner which works flawlessly on my laptop running windows Ultimate 64Bit. I just built myself a new system and wanted to use my external dvd burner rather than an internal drive
When i plug the burner into my rear usb 2.0 ports on my home premium version of windows 7 i have installed on my desktop it wont even detect the eSAU108 USB burner!
My initial thought is that I have a driver issue. Im fully updated with all my hardware except the motherboard BIOS and windows 7 home premium is fully updated.
I have bought a used computer having windows 7 installed. It had a Hitachi LG combo drive, but it was not working, so I replaced it with a Samsung one. I have checked it on another computer. It was working fine there but it is not working on my PC. It does not show any exclamation mark in device manager. It just read the cd/dvd but does not respond. I have already done with the registry fix and also tried the auto fix from Microsoft site, but nothing worked for me.
I have the same problem with my samsung dvd writer.First i use winxp no problem at that time my writer works fine , After i moved to win 7 but at that time no problem it is working fine read and write both cd and dvd. But in before one week it does not read any cd or dvd (which burn by that writer) .when i insert a cd or dvd it start and when i go to windows explorer it display (in win 7) progress bar that it is reading. After complete the progress bar when i click on dvd rom icon and click open then dvd or cv will eject and display error message insert disc to rom .(i have used this writter 18 months ,but not hardly used)
I have 3 External Hard Disk Drives (HDDs) and my PC is only able to read one out of the three -- I also tested slotting in 3 USB flash drives and all three are able to be read. Strange thing is, I tried the same 3 External HDDs in another PC and all three are able to be read.
If any, here: With unreadable HDD With readable HDD
I recently bought a samsung external hard (1500GB). The problem with it was that i couldn't use it on my playstation 3. i was told to format it to Fat32 (something like that), to which i used someone's link which was provided to me. After formatting it, it was still not working on my PS and to make things worse, it was now not detecting on my PC. I use Windows 7.
Laptop: Dell Vostro V131 OS: Windows 7 Pro 64-bit External DVD: Samsung SE-208
My external DVD works fine with the Windows 7 preinstalled in my new laptop. But when I try to re-install the Windows 7... The laptop recognizes well the external DVD The Windows 7 disc boots fine from the external DVD After that, the installation process asks for the external DVD drivers. The same thing happend with an external LG DVD.
So I've just had to clean install today, and after this - ALL of my files on my external hard drive are apparently no longer my own. I have already tried taking ownership - it didn't work. Just keeps telling me I don't have permission. This has NEVER happened to me before... EVER. And I have done countless restores (this is my first clean install, but I've done countless factory restores).
I am trying to format my 1.5Tb Samsung external HDD using Windows XP X64.I tried using port E and F.Formatting goes on for upto 7 hours, progress bar gets to end and I get the 'can't complete format' message.I am a computing dummy, how to get this done correctly and successfuly.
I install Windows XP to external USB HDD and Windows 7 to other USB HDD. I have been using boot from ext. USB HDD for years because internal HDD is too small at that time and I keep it that way until recently I got problem.
I change from Dell620 to HP8560 and immediately it cannot boot from WinXP on USB. The only message is "A disk read error occured. Press Ctrl-Alt-Del to restart". I try to install again without any error during the installation process, but same error once it boot from ext USB HDD. I still can boot Windows 7 on other ext. USB HDD. I upgrade it to Win8 Release Preview and work smoothly. When Win8 RP expired, I keep using it without upgrade because I usually use it for less than 2 hours. Suddenly it cannot boot again like WinXP on other USB HDD. "A disk read error occured." I cannot find anything wrong with USB HDD. I can still access all files on USB HDD from any system. I just cannot boot from it.
How can I know if this is hardware defect or recently Windows apply patch/update that make it cannot boot from USB anymore ?
I have a 1.5TB Seagate ext HD that is formatted as MS-DOS (FAT), this was formatted on my iMac. The Mac internal HD has completely crashed. I attached the ext HD to my Toshiba Satellite laptop, the ext HD does not show in the drive list. It does show in the device manager. It also shows as working properly in the properties menu I need files from this drive. How do I get my Windows 7 system to read the ext usb drive?
My 1 TB Toshiba external hard drive cannot be read by Windows. a error messgae appears sayng CD Rive E is either corupted or the disc is in an incompatible format.
I know about the immediate 'loss' of disk space owing to the two different methods of measurement. 1Tb to 931Gb - it's annoying, but I'm used to it.No, before a defrag by Fixbee I had 701Gb free, afterwards - in a matter of 2 hours - I had 537Gb. Obviously, I'm not going to use this product again, where a clean-up is obviosly a 'dirt up', but how do I undo the damage that it's caused - especially if it's not the only 'clean up' tool that might do this?
My laptop does not read my new external hard disk drive using USB connection. The sign "Safely remove hardware and eject media" is there. But the icon of the hard drive doesn't appear in the "Computer".
I have recently installed Windows 7 RC and it tells me that it cannot find the driver for my Genius Colourpage HR6X Slim scanner. Has anyone out there got their HR6X on Windows 7 to work and if so ... how ...any suggestions would be greatly appreciated?
