Windows 7 64bit Won't Allow To Install Program In The WINDOWS Folder
Nov 30, 2011
To install a program in local disk c -> windows folder -> windows subfolder. I read on a site it will work. I will first test it on a virtual maschine, in case you think it won't work. I ran the installation as administrator, that is right click and press run as administrator. Still during installation windows prompted, that it could not install the program in a subfolder to the windows folder because not administrator. And asked for a rerun of the installation as an administrator. It's mine computer, so I'm administrator. How do I install the program in the described subfolder?

Trying to install a program on win7 (64bit) and it says:
"The following error occured on the file "c:windowssysWOW64odbc32.dll" Access is denied. (0x5)"
I have admin rights to this comp and I am running the install as an admin. The only thing I can think of is another program is using this .dll and making the install think its a read only. However I don't know how to find out what programs use what .dll's.
I have an old DOS cookbook program which contains all my old recipes from many years. I have it installed on my Windows 7 32-bit system and would like to put it on my laptop for use on the road. Laptop is Windows 7 64-bit and I get a message that it is not compatible. Is there a workaround so I can use that program on the 64-bit system? I tried choosing the compatibility to work with Windows XP 3 but still get that incompatible message.
What is going on with my system. I try to install a program and get an error message saying that it is unable to write to C:Users[MYNAME]AppDataLocalTemp So I open Windows Explorer and check the attributes for that address and all is OK but every time I click on the Application Data folder it seems to replicate itself over and over. One error says that there is not enough space when I have over 65Gb free on that drive.

I have Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit, and never had any problem installing 64-bit programs. Now, when a try to install any 64-bit programs it shows a message of incompatible version of the program with the running Windows, but my Windows 7 is 64 bits.
I am having a Qbasic application that is designed to work on 32 bit machines. Now I am migrating to "windows 7" 64-bit machine. What are the Changes I need to carry on? How can I make the application run successful?
I just upgraded to windows 7 Ultimate to utilize the XP mode. I currently access a company thru a VPN client network on my 64 bit Windows. The company has changed some programs that are 32 bit which I have downloaded to XP. Will the 2 systems work together or will I need to access the company from the XP side? Also, is the remote desktop connection something that came with the upgrade?
I cannot find fax and scan on windows 7 64. I have done the following:
- No program in the program list - Control panel/programs and Features/Turn windows features on and off/print document services/ticked fax and scan, OK restart.
Still no joy. Is it possible it is not in my windows 7 64 program?
1. If I have a primarily single threaded 32 bit application that I want to run multiple instances of on a Win 7 64 bit machine...in order to take advantage of throughput on 2xquad core cpu's
a. Will each instance of the 32 bit application be limited to 2GB of 32 bit addressable memory? b. Will the total memory available to all of the running 32 bit applications be only 3.25GB or will a machine with say 64GB of memory parse out 32 2GB partitions to 32 unique windows of an application?
2. If the application has driver interfaces only certified in Windows XP (and not functioning in Win 7 (32 or 64 bit)), what is the impact of question 1 above on running multiple instances of the same application in XP SP3 compatibility mode (e.g. are there additional memory/graphic limits imposed)?
I was away from my computer on saturday and when i returned it had restarted itself. I don't know if it installed updates or just crashed, i can't find any reccord of updates. Since then i can not open any 32 bit programs.
I can not install anything, when i try i get the error "The windows installer service could not be accessed. This can occur if the windows installer is not correctly installed. contact your support personel for assitance."
I also can not uninstall anyhing, i can inly access uninstall utility in safemode but it still will not let me uninstall anything i've tried running sfc/scannow several times along with chkdsk, both found nothing.
I did a system restore also with no change. Booting into safemode doesn't change anything.
CAN'T FIND WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER OR KNOW IF I EVER HAD IT IN WINDOW 7 HOME PREM 64 BIT. CAN'T FIND A DOWNLOAD FOR IT EVEN THOUGH MANY SIGHTS SAY IT'S FREE
I recently built a new computer using Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit, and it is fully up to date. I am trying to run 3D Studio Max 2009 32bit but it wont run. The splash screen will show for a few milliseconds, then disappear, and nothing will happen. My old computer had Windows 7 Home 64bit, and I could run the same copy of 3D Studio Max 32bit easily.3D Studio Max 2009 64bit runs perfectly, just not the 32bit version (both installed at the same time). I absolutely need to use the 32bit version because I have to use a custom exporter / plugin that only works with the 32bit 3DSM.
I recently upgraded my computer from windows xp 32bit to windows 7 64bit. All my data seems to have been transported to Windows.old except my 'users' folder. Is there any way i can get it back as Empire Total War, seems to save into the appdata folder within 'users'? I've tried revealing my hidden folders but that hasn't worked.
Does Win 7 automatically detect where software should be installed? I see it choosing x86 a lot, should I allow it or try and put in the 64 bit program files folder?
The windows folder in my C: drive keeps growing on a massive scale...Yesterday the folder was around 13 gb...Now it is close to 18gb...When i first installed the OS i had allocated only 19gb for OS...But windows chewed up all this space fast and i used a partition software to increase size to 40gb...Immediately after restart the size of c drive increased to 22 gb....What is going on...The steps i have taken so far..
Reduced pagefile size Turned off hibernation or sleep mode..It freed up some space.. Used ccleaner Defragmented Used malware bytes anti-malware to scan... deleted temp files in windows
But nothing seems to help...It just keeps growing even though im not saving anything in it ...All my software, music etc i store in other drives...Please Help..windows update is enabled...Could this be the cause?Wats the size of ur windows folder?
I tried to uninstall IE9 several months ago because I was told it was conflicting w/ Firefox. After I uninstalled it through control panel the folder and its contents were still on the hard drive. I manually deleted everything but the IEproxy.dll. I could not remove this because it was in use by windows explorer. Now I want to re-install IE9. The install starts but then I get the message that some files were in use by WE restart the CPU to use IE9. After restart all that is in the IE folder is the EIproxy.dll and a folder called SignUp. In that folder is a couple of Icons and nothing else. I have tried installing in safe mode. I can not do a restore because I have no idea when the first change was made and I have installed far to many programs to turn back now. I have tried FixIt which does not help. Is there a way to disable the IEproxy so that the IE install can proceed.
my Windows 7 64-bit computer acted oddly (after it accidentally got unplugged while on, tho not sure that's what did it). now when i boot i get as far as the windows 7 logo starts to show, then i get that it can't boot.i changed nothing that i know of.repair says it can't. restore, which only lists points from 3 days ago, doesn't work. i did a memory test. it was fine.am i doomed to do a clean re-install of Windows 7? btw, if i get that Windows 7 logo, and also a stage where it says it is loading files, that means it is reading from my hard drive?
I'm looking for ways to configure windows so that a particular program is never installed in the PC. Please help in understanding if there is a way to do so.
