I am having a Qbasic application that is designed to work on 32 bit machines.Now I am migrating to "windows 7" 64-bit machine. What are the Changes I need to carry on? How can I make the application run successful?

I was a professional programmer for over 30 years mostly COBOL. In my last 10 years QBASIC was a big part of my duties in order to fix COBOL programs that were downloaded to the PC. I was really disappointed that when I updated to Windows 7, Qbasic would not work. I guess Windows 8 would be the same thing. Is there a way to use Qbasic on my computer without destroying it for every thing else?

I was using the same modem on win xp machine for last one year and did not face any such issue. I tried to install the new drivers for audio but problem still persist. Verified the drivers for audio and modem and everything looks to be fine and working.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am working on a Dell Studio 1745 running Win7 64 Home Premium. I need to run a piece of hardware (Tascam US122) that is incompatiable with the 64bit OS. My plan is to partition the drive and install Win 7 32bit on the new partition so I can run the mentioned hardware. I've done this on another machine (Dual Boot XP and Win 7) and ran into a problems with the bootloader. I learned to install older OS FIRST because of that. I'm wondering if installing Win7 32bit on a current Win7 64bit machine will cause a similar problem with bootloaders? I'd rather not have to mess with the bootloaders, but I really need to run this hardware.

The company has changed some programs that are 32 bit which I have downloaded to XP. Will the 2 systems work together or will I need to access the company from the XP side? View 2 Replies View Relatedi have Lan, all computers are windows 7 proffisional and one machine is windows 2003 , workgroup . i made shared folder in windows2003 , some computers can access the shared folder and others can not.when i open network , i see the 2003 computer, when i try to access it , it asked for user name and password. the user is administrator for all , when i enter the user and password from many computers in the lan it is work correctly but in one machine with the same settings its says , you have no permession to access this computer.

I have admin rights to this comp and I am running the install as an admin. The only thing I can think of is another program is using this .dll and making the install think its a read only. However I don't know how to find out what programs use what .dll's.
1. If I have a primarily single threaded 32 bit application that I want to run multiple instances of on a Win 7 64 bit machine...in order to take advantage of throughput on 2xquad core cpu's
a. Will each instance of the 32 bit application be limited to 2GB of 32 bit addressable memory?
b. Will the total memory available to all of the running 32 bit applications be only 3.25GB or will a machine with say 64GB of memory parse out 32 2GB partitions to 32 unique windows of an application?
2. If the application has driver interfaces only certified in Windows XP (and not functioning in Win 7 (32 or 64 bit)), what is the impact of question 1 above on running multiple instances of the same application in XP SP3 compatibility mode (e.g. are there additional memory/graphic limits imposed)?
I was away from my computer on saturday and when i returned it had restarted itself. I don't know if it installed updates or just crashed, i can't find any reccord of updates. Since then i can not open any 32 bit programs.
I can not install anything, when i try i get the error "The windows installer service could not be accessed. This can occur if the windows installer is not correctly installed. contact your support personel for assitance."
I also can not uninstall anyhing, i can inly access uninstall utility in safemode but it still will not let me uninstall anything i've tried running sfc/scannow several times along with chkdsk, both found nothing.
I did a system restore also with no change. Booting into safemode doesn't change anything.
CAN'T FIND WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER OR KNOW IF I EVER HAD IT IN WINDOW 7 HOME PREM 64 BIT. CAN'T FIND A DOWNLOAD FOR IT EVEN THOUGH MANY SIGHTS SAY IT'S FREE
View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently built a new computer using Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit, and it is fully up to date. I am trying to run 3D Studio Max 2009 32bit but it wont run. The splash screen will show for a few milliseconds, then disappear, and nothing will happen.My old computer had Windows 7 Home 64bit, and I could run the same copy of 3D Studio Max 32bit easily.3D Studio Max 2009 64bit runs perfectly, just not the 32bit version (both installed at the same time). I absolutely need to use the 32bit version because I have to use a custom exporter / plugin that only works with the 32bit 3DSM.
This is a clean install of Windows 7 Ultimate.
