I cannot find fax and scan on windows 7 64. I have done the following:
- No program in the program list
- Control panel/programs and Features/Turn windows features on and off/print document services/ticked fax and scan, OK restart.
Still no joy. Is it possible it is not in my windows 7 64 program?
CAN'T FIND WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER OR KNOW IF I EVER HAD IT IN WINDOW 7 HOME PREM 64 BIT. CAN'T FIND A DOWNLOAD FOR IT EVEN THOUGH MANY SIGHTS SAY IT'S FREE
View 2 Replies View RelatedA program that I am familiar with that affects performance consuming at least half of CPU does not appear in the programs that can be uninstalled. I know it is there because it does show in the downloads located in the start menu. This program creeps in when you download certain programs from the internet such as toolbars if you do not uncheck them. I am usually careful about any downloads but since I enrolled in an on-line college course for my bachelor's certain programs do need to be downloaded.

View 9 Replies View RelatedWindows Fax & Scan program will not recognize my scanner when I try to scan a document to fax. I just installed an external modem to send faxes using the Windows Fax & Scan program, which BTW worked fine when I typed a document and faxed it. If I try to use the Scan feature instead, I get an error window telling me that no scanner was detected and to check my connections. My scanner, which is a Canon 8400F with the Windows 7 64-Bit drivers, works fine on it's own. I am having no luck making it function with the Windows Fax & Scan program.

But although it SAYS that it has installed correctly, TWAIN does not fire up and I am unable to use the scanner. It also makes a weird noise through the computer's loud speaker going "dee-dum" every 2 seconds.(Fwiw, the sound is like two low-ish frequency guitar strings being plucked, about 1 octave apart).Also in the Control Panel unders System the scanner dialogue is disappearing and refreshing every 2 seconds as well.It sounds to me like something is rejecting the driver, but not showing any error message to screen.- Is there any way to (permanently) "give permission" to the driver to run?

The company has changed some programs that are 32 bit which I have downloaded to XP. Will the 2 systems work together or will I need to access the company from the XP side? I have admin rights to this comp and I am running the install as an admin. The only thing I can think of is another program is using this .dll and making the install think its a read only. However I don't know how to find out what programs use what .dll's.
1. If I have a primarily single threaded 32 bit application that I want to run multiple instances of on a Win 7 64 bit machine...in order to take advantage of throughput on 2xquad core cpu's
a. Will each instance of the 32 bit application be limited to 2GB of 32 bit addressable memory?
b. Will the total memory available to all of the running 32 bit applications be only 3.25GB or will a machine with say 64GB of memory parse out 32 2GB partitions to 32 unique windows of an application?
2. If the application has driver interfaces only certified in Windows XP (and not functioning in Win 7 (32 or 64 bit)), what is the impact of question 1 above on running multiple instances of the same application in XP SP3 compatibility mode (e.g. are there additional memory/graphic limits imposed)?
I was away from my computer on saturday and when i returned it had restarted itself. I don't know if it installed updates or just crashed, i can't find any reccord of updates. Since then i can not open any 32 bit programs.
I can not install anything, when i try i get the error "The windows installer service could not be accessed. This can occur if the windows installer is not correctly installed. contact your support personel for assitance."
I also can not uninstall anyhing, i can inly access uninstall utility in safemode but it still will not let me uninstall anything i've tried running sfc/scannow several times along with chkdsk, both found nothing.
I did a system restore also with no change. Booting into safemode doesn't change anything.
I recently built a new computer using Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit, and it is fully up to date. I am trying to run 3D Studio Max 2009 32bit but it wont run. The splash screen will show for a few milliseconds, then disappear, and nothing will happen.My old computer had Windows 7 Home 64bit, and I could run the same copy of 3D Studio Max 32bit easily.3D Studio Max 2009 64bit runs perfectly, just not the 32bit version (both installed at the same time). I absolutely need to use the 32bit version because I have to use a custom exporter / plugin that only works with the 32bit 3DSM.
This is a clean install of Windows 7 Ultimate.

i recently downloaded a patch for this game (an unofficial one) and when i came to install it i get an error telling me that "this program is not compilable with your version of windows please contact the vendor for the correct version of the program (32bit or 64bit)" I've never encountered this problem before and as far as i know 32 bit programs should work on 64 bit OSes just fine (i have windows 7 ultimate 64 bit btw)i just want to know have you guys ever encountered such an error? how did you solve it/get past it?

I will first test it on a virtual maschine, in case you think it won't work. I ran the installation as administrator, that is right click and press run as administrator. Still during installation windows prompted, that it could not install the program in a subfolder to the windows folder because not administrator. And asked for a rerun of the installation as an administrator. It's mine computer, so I'm administrator.How do I install the program in the described subfolder?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm running Windows 7 Professional x64. I have Microsoft Office 2007 installed and I want Outlook to startup when I startup Windows. I only have the one User account in Windows, so I initially put a shortcut of the outlook.exe in the user startup folder. But to no avail, it didn't startup. So I then cut and pasted this shortcut to the All users startup folder. This worked and it starts up when windows does. The problem is it starts up twice. I then opened msconfig to lookup startup programs. There are 2 instances of the Outlook listed but when I disable one it disables both and nothing starts up. I then re-enable it and it starts up twice again.
