I am running Windows7 64 bit which runs excellent, solid like a rock. The problem I have is it horrible when it comes to getting a printer to work. I have a KODAK ESP5250 all in one printer. I can print test pages fine but when I try to print from IE, Google Chrome, and note pad I get no response. When I click on printer properties location is blank.
View 8 RepliesI had bought my Acer notebook a while back, which had 3Gb, but seemed insufficient for my work. Hence, I upgraded it with two new RAM Modules of Transcend make (2 X 4Gb) recently. However, I haven't found any noticeable performance improvement post this huge upgrade. Also, when I check the Virtual Memory settings, it shows that "Currently Allocated - 8054 Mb" and "Recommended - 12081 Mb". The check box on "Automatically allow windows to manage paging file size" is checked by default. Every time I go to this screen, and even though I don't change anything, it prompts me to save the setting and restart windows.
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy girlfirends new PC has Windows 7 64-bit on it, now getting on the internet is a real headache! every time I click the network list at the bottom, and select the network I want, it will connect but if I make it show the the list of networks again it will loose the network. When it does connect after a while it might drop off then trying to reconnect come up with "the settings do not match" I have to change them, then change back to get it to connect again but if I keep an eye on it while it connects it fails.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI run Windows 7-64 and need to install XP. I made a space, and booted from the XP CD. After it loaded files, when starting, it crashed. I read on a forum I need to set the drive to compatibility mode (called legacy in my setup). It warns my OS may not boot.What should I do? I'm afraid to change the drive setting and have Windows 7 not boot. But I need to get XP working. I do have two drives. Second is a backup, I could install XP on that, and set the second drive to legacy, and leave my primary drive's current settings.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have a user that has a problem with the printer settings being reset every time she logs in to one PC. She has a Win7 Roaming profile. Both PCs are running Win7. It works fine on her PC, but when she roams to the front desk the label printer always has the wrong paper type. We can change the paper type and it works fine the rest of that session, but the next time she logs into this PC it is the wrong paper type again. The label printers are identical and installed locally at each PC.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am having problems when I try and apply my Printer to be shared in windows 7 I get error message saying that printer settings could not be saved. 0x000006d9. I have reinstalled the drivers and rebooted the pc and I am logged on as an Admin but it still wont work.
I am using Windows 7 Build 7100.
Any ideas on how I can fix this annoying problem.
I installed the Windows 7 beta yesterday and so far have been pretty impressed. I do have one gripe and was wondering if anyone on here has a similar problem (or better yet a solution ).
My printer, an HP All in one 1510, installs fine. The drivers are downloaded on windows update and the printer shows up in the devices center and I can print to it.
The problem is that a number of the settings that I could control under "Printer Preferences" are gone. I print out a lot of documents and so I usually have my printer on its "fast draft" setting. I tried installing the HP drivers on the website and nothing seems to change.
Anyone else having this issue? Anyone have any advice on trying to get all the settings there?

There is an additional printer that I use for my PC, but this is the primary one.I have checked various posts on these forums regarding this, but practically all of them relate to networked printers, not a single, stand alone printer. I have the correct drivers, and normally, this should not be an issue.I would also like to add that this occurred after installing Win 7 clean, with the exception of monitor/video card drivers. I was in the process of installing all my hardware before starting with any other software.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have 3 systems each running Windows 7 Ultimate on a home network (not a home group). I have an HP Laserjet 1022 attached via USB to system #3 (32 bit). System #1 is 64 bit and #2 is 32 bit. System #2 prints fine on system #3. When system #1 (64 bit) prints, the entry is made into the print queue of #3, but never prints. I've tried restarting the print spooler to no avail. Print entry from #1 cannot be cancelled. I have to manually delete the spooler entry for the print job from C:/Windows/system32/spool/PRINTERS.Without getting into finger pointing at HP, is there a problem with the printing software in Windows 7 when OS word sizes are mixed ? Is the HP Laserjet 1022 driver too old to be used (the driver states it was modified this current year)?

The old machine runs 32-bit Vista while the new one is 64-bit Win7, of course. In our reorganization we moved our Canon MP610 printer to be hooked up to the new machine, but it'd be great if we could share it amongst both pc's and my older son's new laptop. I've search and read lots of sites online, but can't really find a solution to get the old pc to be able to "see" the printer to share.

View 3 Replies View RelatedHave a Canon ip6000d printer hooked up to a Win7 32bit machine. I installed the "printer add-on module" for Win7 on this machine and it prints fine. I share it across the network so that I can print from my Win7 64bit laptop but I can not install the driver for it. The laptop sees the printer when I try to "add a printer" but it looks for a 64bit driver. So I installed the "printer add-on module" onto the laptop, and still nothing, it continues to look for a driver. So I then directly connected the printer (usb) to the laptop, it installed itself and works perfectly fine. So I reconnected it back to the 32bit machine and tried to "add a printer" again over the network and it still asks for the 64driver. I can't find a regular .inf driver file anywhere for this printer, just the damn "printer add-on module".
