Windows 7 64 Bit Freezes On SSD, Unfreezes After Unplug/plug The SSD
Jun 27, 2011
I have Apacer 32GB SSD and I have 64 bit version of Windows 7 installed on it. Peformence is nice and fast but for some reason Windows just freezes (1-2 times a day or so) because no SSD is present. I am able to open my computer before total freeze and no SSD is present! Then I just unplug the SSD SATA cable and plug it back in a voila! PC unfrozes and SSD is present. What seems to be the problem? I have motherboard about 1 year old and I did download/install all latest drivers. SSD has about 7GB of free space and gets pleny of cooling

I recently built a new computer. The only issue I have right now is that I constantly get a pop-up from Realtek HDAM saying "You just unplugged a device" then immediately "You just plugged in a device".I disabled the popups but they still show up. That's not really the problem, I can live with that. It's the annoying cut out of audio every 20 seconds followed by the audio being a lot quieter. Originally I installed the drivers from the motherboard CD (Asus P8Z68-V Pro/Gen3). Frankly those worked better but I still had the issue, I updated the drivers to a newer version, but now I keep getting this problem more often.

i use my PC every day and it has been rock stable for years. however lately i have an issue while browsing: the computer freezes randomly when i'm online. It freezes completely -even the mouse- for a few seconds. Then it beeps once from the speakers and unfreeze at the same time. No BSOD or anything else.
Seems like a hardware problem, but i am not sure. It should beep from the desktop inside if it was the RAM. Also, i tried a lot of stress-tests to ensure 24/7 stability It passed memtest for >12hrs, HD tune, IBT, and even prime95 for 24hrs, to fail when i opened 5-6 chrome tabs!
MY SYSTEM:
CPU: Intel Core2 Quad Q9550 @2.83Ghz Motherboard: ASUS P5Q-D Turbo RAM: DDR2 Kingston hyper-x T1 PC8500 @1066Mhz 8GB GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 285

I always choose the "No Sound" option in windows control / sounds panel.
But when I unplugg some USB devices (like a bluetooth controller card which I use to communicate to my cellphone) I get a system sound which is incredibly large, makes me jump every time .. hehehe .. I cannot find any sound settings in the PC suite program (sony-ericsson) program .. and like I said above . I have made sure the NO SOUND option is chosen.
Anybody know how to stop that unmounting sound ?
It's probably right there before my eyes somewhere but cannot find it .... and since I have my computer connected to a external sound system with large speakers (use it for writing music and recording) .. that sound scares the .... out of me each time..

I have a gateway netbook. Normally when it is plugged in and I unplug it the screen dims. Yesterday it stopped doing that. Now when I unplug it stays at the same brightness. Just to clarify, it seems as though whether it is plugged in or not, the brightness is like it used to be when I unplugged it (it is dimmed either way). It's not that important because the thing stays plugged in most of the time, but I am curious as to how this could happen. I just reinstalled Windows on it a few days ago. It is 32-bit ultimate, if that matters.

I'm using Windows 7 Ultimate 64 Everytime when I unplug a device connected to my computer through USB port (such as FlashDrive, Zune, PSP, my phone...), if I shut down or restart my computer immediately, I will get a BSOD. If I wait for a while after unplug my device, then BSOD won't occur.

When I have my Headset plugged in the front of the computer, I find that I must unplug my Headset inorder to hear the External Speakers. Is there a way to get around unplugging the Headset plug? Afraid constant plugging and unplugging will wear out the connector and have to go inside of computer to replace the connector.

Starting yesterday I have been having audio problems. Whenever I plug in my headset it says it is not played in and when i hover over the sound thing it says sound is coming from the speakers. However, I hear nothing from my speakers. Now when I unplug it says it has found the device and sound is now coming through it. Needless to say I hear no sound from it or my built in speakers.

AOTBE, this doesn't happen at all when I have a normal PS2 KB/Mouse plugged in. However when I replace that with USB KB/Mouse there is a problem. This has been happens whether I use my Logitech USB KB with Logitech Mouse. And the same with Razer KB and Razer Mouse. So I'm presuming this happens with any KB/Mouse plugged in by USB. I'm in Windows. I hit reset, and it freezes at the post. I'm in Windows. I shut down the PC. The next time, I power it up, it goes through a really really long boot to Windows. Then the screen goes blank. The only way to resolve this is by completely powering off my PC. Meaning I shut it down. Then flip the switch on the PSU to off. Only when the power to the PSU has been switched off will the PC boot all the way into Windows when turned on and powered up. And even in this case, it takes a pretty long time to boot. IDK if Windows 7 normally should take that long.

I have actually had this problem every time I've re-installed the OS and can't seem to figure out how to fix it. When I install Windows 7 x64 and plug in my mouse or printer right away they will discover the drivers and work automagically. After I go through the Windows updates they just don't seem to work anymore. The only thing I've been able to do to get them to work is run this little MS program(http://windows.micro...ith-USB-devices) I found that apparently forces what I have plugged into the USB port and isn't responding to install drivers and work. I just don't know what to do so I don't have to run this program any time I try to plug something into the USB ports. What's kind of strange is I have an external drive that I plug in and it works before and after the updates without running that program. Anyone have any idea what might be wrong?
Using a HP Pavilion g7 1075dx Notebook PC just fyi.dit: Actually I just tested unplugging the mouse and printer after they were working, restarting the system, and trying to plug them back in again. They don't work again. So as it stands I would have to run that little MS Fix It program every time I plug them in to get them to work.

I've been having some BSOD lately when I plug in a usb memory stick. At first it could happen during games and at start up.I first thought it was the program "magicdisk" that was the problem. One of the BSOD blamed it on a system file used by that program, but after Uninstall I still get BSOD.I tried to revert back to an old system image, but that didn't help. And it also added "magicdisk" back, but this time I couldn't uninstall it. It said it was already uninstalled, but the registry files was still there. So I tried to clean out any remaining files and drivers from the program.

ake sure that when plugging into the MB, the HDD doesn't lose any data from the prior set-up? HDD-1 is the primary data drive. Shouldn't I be able to "mount" it and read the data? I am planning on moving the data to some external HDDs, reformat the HDDs and then put the user data files back in HDD-1.

I've pulled the old Fan out. When I google the PN: hi. 10800.028 e I learn it's Socket 775, 95mm which I confirmed by measuring fan diameter.
Tiger Direct shows this right-priced replacement model which matches every spec except it has a 3 pin plug: VALUE SOCKET T/775 HEATSINK at TigerDirect.com. They don't know if 3 pin plug works when 4 pins are present on mobo and original part has 4 pin plug.
There's also this used one which exactly matches PN: Acer HI.10800.028 Heatsink and Fan Gateway AX3400G X1420G X1920G
And this one for twice the price that matches even the Acer model number: New Acer Aspire X1200 X1300 X1301 X1800 X3200 X3300 X3810 Cpu Fan. But he doesn't wanna spend that much.
