So, I got home tonight after work, was going to play some Diablo 3, than noticed my laptop would not connect to the internet. I am currently using an ethernet cable... The Wifi light is off on my laptop... I use the key on the keyboard to try and enable it, with no success. I try to manual enable it, through network and sharing, and no dice.

View 8 Replies View Related4 days ago we changed the security settings on our home router/network from WPA2- Personal TKIP+AES to just AES. I then changed my Asus UL80vt-A1 wireless adapter settings (Atheros AR9285) to match (from TKIP to AES).This was the ONLY change I made to the system.Then the fun began.
First off a new adapter appeared in my Network connections. It is Wireless Network Connection 2- Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter. Well, that was not there before I made the changes to the security settings. Googling results indicate it is a normal part of Windows 7, it really had never been there before.Restarting the computer the wireless adapter shows as disabled, and I have to run the network diagnostics to re-enable it. It does not matter if I do a shut down or hibernate (my preferred way of shutting down the laptop before going somewhere).
So I thought I should change the security settings back to what I had (TKIP+AES) and set my notebook to TKIP. I also did a Windows Update just in case. I ran a scan with Avast Antivirus, Microsoft Security Essential and Malware Bytes to see if something evil had gotten in, all were clean.Now when I hibernate my laptop it takes 4-5 minutes to shutdown. When I restart it takes 4-5 minutes to restart. I am staring at the intro screen waiting for the logon to appear. Once I get logged in the wifi adapter appears connected, but the computer is acting like it is hung up until all the open programs have finished loading. I can't do anything until the 27 open tabs in Firefox have completely finished being restored. Takes another 3-4 minutes.
Aero is disabled. Cannot start it up. Desktop Windows Manager is enabled in services but when I run Aero trouble shooting utility it say's Desktop Manager is "Disabled". Tried disabling then restarting but still the same.

If this service is stopped, these functions will be unavailable. If this service is disabled, any services that explicitly depend on it will fail to start. 99% of me is sure that the above statement applies to a workstation in a production environment but I wanted to make sure and bounce it off a few of you folks.

I remember a couple of years ago I had this problem, I looked up a solution and was able to open the usb up by going through... aghh this is what I can't remember.
It's manually opening up the usb by going through some 'coding'-ish steps.

I recently installed ubuntu as a duel boot between my win 7 installation, and I then reset the MBR, as I prefer the windows mbr.
Now, I cant boot into linux, so my question is: Is it possible to add ubuntu to the windows mbr manually, and if so, how?

The last one 12/2011. The last backup field says �Never��yet backups exist. Short of it, I cannot find the reason backups would not run. Windows has an extremely poor ability to view just what is going on with backups. Assuming it might be a space issue. I deleted all but a few of the last backups in manage backups, and reset the schedule so backups would run overnight. This morning, same results, backup cancelled. So�I clicked on �Backup now��and it runs to completion successfully. The last back field was updated with today�s date/time.

Like open notepad and write down a script to make it work like an ordinary shortcut.The reason I want to do this is because I have a large collection of music and for the moment I have to open, first my music directory then choose the artist directory then the album directory and finally the playlist file. The way I want it is instead of getting into the album directory I would just have a shortcut in the artist directory that will open the playlist and start the music.
