I was just wondering if there's a way I can wake my computer with a mouse click. Its just that in windows 8 cp I can wake the system with a click from the mouse but not in windows 7. I'm using a generic mouse attached to the front panel usb.

I just barely reinstalled my Windows 7 computer, and have transferred my files back to my computer from an external hard drive. I decided to sort and delete unused files, when eventually my mouse movement started to move very erratic. Moving to the left seems to cover less ground, while moving to the right seems to work normally. Up and down has the same effects as left movement, which is why moving to the right isn't always smooth or perfect. I am using a wired Razer Deathadder mouse (left handed), and have the correct drivers installed. I have restarted the computer but I still have the same symptoms.

Today I started my PC, and everything was fine until I tried to move my mouse pointer. I don't know what's wrong because everything else from the mouse works perfectly fine, right/left click, in browser back/next (I'm using a r.a.t. 5 mouse). I tried reinstalling its software, and also tried different mice. Still only clicks are recognized, no movement.

I have a new Toshiba with Windows 7....I noticed that when I move my mouse (laptop), that the cursor either turns into a 4 way arrow and any movement changes the size of everything or else there is a small "bar" for horizontal or verticle movement that shows up..I can barely move the mouse...extremely irritating...any way to disable this?

Okay, This issue has followed me through numerous windows 7 installs.
What happens is that I play certain games (so far only Borderlands and Mass Effect 2 set it off) for anywhere between an hour and two hours. Out of nowhere I start to get lag when I move my mouse. My sound crackles every time I move my mouse and playing the game becomes impossible. It is not an issue of overheating because I play many other games and monitor my temperatures and these games are nothing special in terms of heat. Also - I know it is my mouse causing the lag because I can look at complex things and strafe back and forth (obviously requiring things to be redrawn) and I receive ZERO LAG. But if I move my mouse in a tiny circle it causes massive lag.
If I exit the game once this has occurred it will continue to act this way until I restart my computer. If I open task manager and sort by processes it shows 30-40% utilization when moving my mouse but no processes are to blame. If I look at my cores in task manager my first core gets almost maxed every time I move my mouse. If I stop moving my mouse (or scrolling) it immediately drops back down to 0% and will shoot back up the second I move the mouse again.
I ran Process Explorer and it appears "DPCs" or Deferred Procedure Calls are to blame as they appear on the list and match the CPU usage EXACTLY. It is obviously a specific driver that is causing this overload and there are guides I've tried to follow online to dump the contents of my DPC to see which specific drivers are eating resources but I can't seem to get any of them to work with windows 7 x64. I would use DPC latency viewer and try disabling my USB because my mouse is USB to see if it fixes the issue but I would have no way of re-enabling it at that point.
and yes I've used DPC Latency viewer and it maxes out every time I move the mouse and claims a driver is responsible but this is not a program that can tell me WHICH driver.
I really need help to capture the contents of my DPC.

There's a lag in windows when I hold and drag the mouse for selection rectangle, but only when I keep CTRL or ALT or SHIFT pressed along with the mouse button, there's a lag even with this simple rectangular marquee in windows, the movement gets frozen every 2-3 seconds. And when I hold and drag for rectangular marquee with mouse button only, there's no lag and it's smooth as it should be.
Same behavior in 3D softwares: lag when using mouse button + ctrl or alt or shift, and NO LAG when using mouse button only CTRL, SHIFT and ALT are the cause! But the problem now is how to fix that? I want to use the alt or shift or ctrl key along with the mouse in my 3D apps, it's so convenient and useful. I disabled tablet input service and it doesn't work.

I have a bluetooth mouse and when the computer goes to sleep the mouse will not wake it up. If I move the mouse or click the buttons nothing happens, even though the mouse has a blue activity indicator light (indicates mouse activity, not connectivity). If I instead type on one of my keyboards it will wake the computer up and the mouse will reconnect.

Bought a GW DX4860, it comes preinstalled with Win 7 and I have it hooked up to a Dell (S2240M) monitor. I noticed that once the PC goes into hibernate (Power led is blinking) that I can not wake it with keyboard (USB) or Mouse (USB). The only way is to hold down the power button for a while. Then the screen pops up saying that I did not shut window down propoerly - probably because I hard booted the PC.

I have a Razer Copperhead USB Mouse. Specs of my desktop can be found here: TechComet: My Gadgets, Basically, I put my desktop to sleep (using S3-STR) and when I wake it up my moues does not respond for about 15-30 s after which it works fine. I am running Windows 7. I have no other problems with my system, my keyboard responds fine and I have all necessary drivers installed. I have no idea why this is happening and the fact that my computer resumes from sleep in 2 seconds is great, but not when I have to wait another 30 for the mouse to work!

Recently, my computer will not wake up from sleep mode. Once it enters sleep mode, the only way to get it functioning again is to hold the power button, completely shut it off, and then boot my system back up. It appears as if everything starts back up once I open the lid or press the power button to wake it up, but the screen never turns back on. The fan starts up, the backlit keyboard lights up, the leds all blink, but nothing I try will turn the screen back on forcing me to press and hold the power button for a complete shut down.I have reinstalled the latest Intel HD Graphics driver as well as the latest NVIDIA graphics driver (both the stable and beta release).I do not get a blue screen or any sort of error. Upon the restart, I am not prompted with any error from windows or any signs of the forced shut down.

Computer has been working perfectly and decided to try the sleep mode last evening as opposed to turning it off. Bad move, now the keyboard, mouse and monitor are unresponsive. No way to communicate with the computer whatsoever. Tried re-booting but can tell from the sound of it, is only powering back on in sleep mode.

I have a perplexing situation with my three-year-old Toshiba laptop. If I resume working after allowing the computer to hibernate, a bit after that (maybe 10 minutes) the screen goes blank--no mouse--no background. Hitting Ctrl+Alt+Delete does not bring up the Task Manager. Nothing I do seems to work except physically shutting the on/off switch, waiting a bit, and rebooting. I get a message upon reboot that the machine was not shut down properly. The machine has an AMD 64 X2 Athlon processor 1.7Gb. I have 2 GB of RAM installed and Windows 7 Home premium. The drivers seem to be all up to date. I have an active antivirus/firewall running. What would cause such a problem? Any suggestions in solving the issue? This is driving me nuts. If I don't allow the computer to hibernateHere are some member answers to get you started, butplease read all the advice and suggestions that ourmembers have contributed to this question

I built this computer in March of this year and everything worked great. I had my power options set up so I could switch between high performance and power saver for when I'm not using it. Power saver was set up to turn off display and put the computer to sleep after 1 minute. I don't recall changing any of the advanced settings but maybe I forgot something.
I used to wake it up simply by hitting the space bar and everything would come back on. I just did a clean install of Windows 7 two days ago and since then when I choose power saver and it goes to sleep after whatever time I set it to, it no longer wakes up. Well, this is where I'm lost because it still makes the same noises like the fans spinning harder and all that but nothing appears on my monitor. At first I thought it had something to do with my monitor but I just realized that the lights on my mouse don't come on either. Which they used to before when I'd hit the space bar.
My build:
Windows 7 Home Premium
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2500K CPU @ 3.30GHz
(RAM) 8.00GB
System type: 64- bit

I have an inspiron 1545 running windows 7 (x64) and I am having problems waking up my computer from sleep . Usually, when I put my computer to sleep, I have problems waking up my computer. The screen stays relatively dark when I move my mouse although I can see some light coming from the bottom part of the screen (so the screen seems to be on, just not showing anything sueful). When I try to press the space bar multiple times, my computer gives me a warning ding and it plays a sound when I insert or remove my usb mouse.

My computer is several years old, and just a few weeks ago started having a problem waking from standby. Up until now, it had no issues going into and coming out of sleep. Now, whenever it goes to sleep (whether due to inactivity or putting it to sleep manually), it won't wake up. The lights come on, the fans come on, but the monitor stays in standby. I've looked around online and found that many people get a black screen when booting up, i.e. the monitor comes alive and they may get a mouse cursor, but that's not what's happening to me. I don't get a black screen--my screen is never getting a signal from the computer. I have to do a hard reset, after which I get the 'Start Windows Normally' screen.I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the graphics drivers, changing hybrid sleep settings, using hibernate instead of standby, uninstalling random programs, etc, to no effect. I don't think I had any major windows or driver updates that caused it.

It does this every once in a while. It happened twice in the past 2 days. I'm not sure if it's something I left open before going into sleep mode or something else.So the computer's been in sleep mode, usually for at least an hour. I do the usual thing to wake it up, move the mouse. After a simple movement fails, I try again, moving vigorously and clicking all the mouse buttons. I have also tried pressing all the keys on my keyboard.
