I was just wondering if there's a way I can wake my computer with a mouse click. Its just that in windows 8 cp I can wake the system with a click from the mouse but not in windows 7. I'm using a generic mouse attached to the front panel usb.

I just got a new mouse but its a PS/2 connection instead of USB and it wont wake the PC from C3 sleep (i think the mouse is being turned off in sleep). My old USB mouse which i took out today worked perfect and would wake the PC from sleep by clicking once.

I have a bluetooth mouse and when the computer goes to sleep the mouse will not wake it up. If I move the mouse or click the buttons nothing happens, even though the mouse has a blue activity indicator light (indicates mouse activity, not connectivity). If I instead type on one of my keyboards it will wake the computer up and the mouse will reconnect.
View 2 Replies View RelatedBought a GW DX4860, it comes preinstalled with Win 7 and I have it hooked up to a Dell (S2240M) monitor. I noticed that once the PC goes into hibernate (Power led is blinking) that I can not wake it with keyboard (USB) or Mouse (USB). The only way is to hold down the power button for a while. Then the screen pops up saying that I did not shut window down propoerly - probably because I hard booted the PC.

Specs of my desktop can be found here: TechComet: My Gadgets, Basically, I put my desktop to sleep (using S3-STR) and when I wake it up my moues does not respond for about 15-30 s after which it works fine. I am running Windows 7. I have no other problems with my system, my keyboard responds fine and I have all necessary drivers installed. I have no idea why this is happening and the fact that my computer resumes from sleep in 2 seconds is great, but not when I have to wait another 30 for the mouse to work!

View 9 Replies View RelatedI run Windows 7 on two of machines. One runs flawlessly. The other ran flawlessly for about a month or two, and then I started getting a rather odd problem. The OS fails to recognize my (mostly) left mouse clicks for random periods of time, say 5 seconds to like 60 seconds. It'll work, then it'll stop, then it'll work... etc. Obviously this is extremely frustrating. Thinking it's the mouse, I tried another mouse - same problem.
Both mice are USB, but it does not seem to be an issue with the USB ports as my keyboard and other USB peripherals work fine. Running the C2D Extreme Quad core from a couple of years ago, X38 chipset board, 4870x2. I formatted and reinstalled the first time this problem came up, and it started again within a few hours of the reinstall. All I've got installed besides my drivers are:
Firefox
AIM
ATI Catalyst Control Panel
Recently, within the past three days or so, when I left click on something, it doesn't work. This can be resolved by right clicking on a blank spot in the program I am running. This has happened in Windows Explorer, Lord of the Rings Online, or even on the desktop. I have tried two different mice, re-installed the drivers for both, updated the video drivers.....everything I could think of short of using a restore point. The only software change has been the latest Windows updates. I am running Win7 Home Premium on a laptop. The two mice I have tried have been a MS mouse and a Logitech one.

View 3 Replies View RelatedUsually when using an internet browser (firefox or internet explorer) and windows explorer windows, I try to click to switch tabs and it doesn't respond. It shows (Not Responding) for a split second and won't switch tabs. I end up having to click a whole bunch of times before it switches.
This same kind of thing happens with explorer windows when trying to restore them from the minimized state. It just won't respond and multiple clicks are needed before seeing any action. This has been happening for awhile now but I figure it just may be another bug

View 13 Replies View Relatedi've been having a problem with my mouse, it clicks just once in a while, and, sometimes, it gets better with one window (program) but when I change to another program or desktop, it stops clicking again. It begun out of nowhere about 3 days ago. I run my pc on windows 7, I tried changing the usb port, the mouse and it doesn't work. What does help is doing a ctrl+alt+del, starting task manager and returning to windows, then, I can click on a single program and it begins to work (the mouse clicks) with it. Typing alt+tab also helps sometimes.
My xbox controller and keyboard are functioning normally. I recently updated my kaspersky to the latest version, but I tried deactivating it but I had no luck with the mouse. I'm thinking about returning to a previous kaspersky version, first, then, if that doesn't help, reinstalling the windows.
Ah, another thing that might help: i have windows vista on the same PC, same HD and, when I logged in it to see if the problem persisted, gess what, yes, the same mouse problem. That made me think of a hardware problem, but on all usb ports is odd. Can anyone help?

The cursor moves normally but left click and right click won't work. if i do CTRL ALT DEL and cancel it works again for a while and then starts again.
The weird part, is it's not alway for the whole screen, sometimes i cannot click windows, sometimes i cannot click the tasl bar, sometimes both...

As i was typing in MS Word in the middle of a sentence when i clicked the space bar the pc acted as if i right clicked on my mouse. I ran CCleaner it did not help. View 3 Replies View RelatedMy netbook, running windows 7 starter, no longer allows me to right click. Not in programs, not in folders, not on the desktop. I was using a USB mouse (which I tested on another mechine, the right click works fine there, so its not the mouse). After this problem started I tried a second usb mouse and the right-click on the built-in touch pad mouse. None of them worked. I have tried rebooting, I tried updating the drivers on my USB mouse. I havn't tried a system restor, hoping someone might know a fix that avoids that route.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI uninstalled the Interactual and Sonic Cineplayer software because that interfered with Windows Media Player and Power DVD v7.
I set my autoplay option for the DVD drive to "Always ask" for a DVD movie.
When I insert a DVD movie I get the autoplay option for WMP or PowerDVD.
Now everything works except for one quirk.
If I insert a DVD MOVIE, cancel the autoplay option and then simply mouse click on the DVD drive I get:
"Windows cannot access the specified device. path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item."
Any other type of DVD/CD works fine. IT IS JUST DVD MOVIES.
I think Interactual, which want to own the DVD drive, left some registry entry whereby it tries to re-install itsellf (I REALLY hate that software).
1) Any ideas as to what the POC Interactual software left behind an how to clean it?
2) Also, why, oh why, can't the Windows error message INCLUDE the "device, path, or file" NAME in the error message? (Pet Peeve #1) Are you listening Redmond?
I seem to remember that there was a setting that I could change to prevent a drop-down from appearing whenever I clicked on an icon. Now I am presented with a drop-down that has "OPEN' as it's top item.
