I looked in System Configuration on my W7 Ultimate.....There are 80 systems running. Which ones can I shut off to make my pc run faster with W7 and not mess it up. This is just after I rebooted I didn't have anything open yet. [code]

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have an Acer Aspire one. It came with XP and I have it dual booting into Windows 7 which is working well which I installed from a USB Drive as this model doesnt have a CD Drive.
In the main boot screen it says "Earlier version of Windows" For XP and "Windows 7" for windows 7. All was working well until yesterday...
Now I can't boot into "Earlier version of Windows" i.e. XP. It gives me the C:\windows\system32\config\system is missing or corrupt message. I can boot into Windows 7 fine but all of my work stuff is on the XP platform (I know I can access the files from "7" but I need to get it operational again).
Any ideas? Can I do a repair from the USB Drive?..I've tried a couple of things to boot from the USB Drive but to no avail. And I can't find the BOOT.INI file from XP (I think it gets moved to Windows 7's hidden boot partition when I installed it. I cant seem to access that partition either).
Attempting to install win 7 on cpu that is currently running linux, I am getting a blue screen with "bad system config info error".

View 4 Replies View RelatedI recently had a power outage while Windows 7 (x64) was loading. System booted up fine. I went to do a system restore, but could not. When I go to select a restore point is says, "System Protection is turned off". I never turned it off and it will not let me turn it on. The C: clearly shows protection is turned on, but when I select system restore it says it is turned off.
I think I read most of the posts here on this issue, but no go. What I have tried:Manually create restore point- Works fine. Repeated many times. . Turned System Protection Off and then back On- No difference Ran WMI.bet- No change Deleted all restore points- No change Ran VSS List Shadows- Got hits even though I had deleted all restore points Verified VSS is on- I have seen posts to say set to manual and set to auto. I have done both. No difference. SFC /SCANNOW- Found no integrity violations Tried to do a Repair Install- Cannot. I am running SP1. Comes back saying it cannot be done.

i have window 7 test version installed however When i tried to install Act of war: Direct action, it didn't work and since i have herd how the game does not like more than 3 GB of rams i change the MSconfig settings and set a limit on the memory from the Advance options after i restarted my computer it crashed...and i am unable to undo the msconfig changes, because i am unable to access msconfig i have tried to boot into safemode and load msconfig, however it says i do not have the privileged to access msconfig...i have tried the automatic repair in window 7... and it didn't work anyother ways to undo it?i have a lot of accessments in the C: drive which i have not backed up?

PROBLEM: I have thousands of PDFs in hundreds of folders. When I go to a particular folder, I use the slider to change the Explorer views from "Content" to "Extra Large Icons" but cannot get a thumbnail preview of the PDFs - all I see is an Acrobat Icon preview.I know that this is an issue on the X64-bit verson of Windows 7, but I'm running 32-bit Windows 7 (Ultimate)! ATTEMPTS: I've tried several ways to resolve this but nothing worked so far. Specifically, I: 1. Made sure that the File Type Associations are correct.2.Unchecked Folder options>View>"Always show icons, never thumbnails".3. Made sure that Folder options>View> "Display file icon on thumbnails" is checked.4.Made sure that Performance>Settings>"Show thumbnails instead of icons" is checked.5. Tried the simple method suggessted at other forums: going into Adobe and opening the directory to preview the files as thumbnails from there and then refreshing the folder in Windows Explorer to display a thumbnail preview of the PDF file - Didn't work either!6. View 2 Replies View RelatedI am running windows 7 pro 64 bit on a WD 500 gig Sata Hard Drive, The other day I pulled the sata cable from the 500 gig sata and installed a samsung 250 gig SSD and loaded win 8 pro. The install went great. The problem is when I connect the sata cable back to the 500 gig HD to boot to win 7 I have to hook to a different slot on the motherboard to get it to boot. If I want to boot to the win 8 hard drive I have to do the same. If there a easier way to use two hard drives with two different OS in one computer so I can boot to either one. I dont want to dual boot on same drive.
