View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a new gaming computer with a high end video card and plenty of RAM and a high speed cable Internet connection. I also have a HDHomeRun TV cable unit which is listed to work with MS Media Center. When I set up my Media Center/TV connection it recognizes my HDHomeRun TV connection and all three TV channels via my MCard I got from Comcast cable. But next to the last dialog window, during setting up my TV connection, I got the following message, "Your computer is not digital cable ready. You will not be able to set it up for use with a cable card."
View 4 Replies View RelatedI just bought a Netgear WNA3100 wireless usb adapter for my HP Win 7 64 bit laptop. I have been trying for 2 and half days to figure out why my speed is slow, why i don't have a good signal, and/ or if I do have a bit of a signal to my luck, why my signal comes and goes. I don't have internet at home at the moment because I am trying to save up to go to school. I am picking up a public business signal from a block away (which I have asked for permission to use), but I only am receiving not much of a signal with the Netgear usb wireless adapter.

View 9 Replies View RelatedAnytime I play wow after a few minutes to a couple hours my computer will freeze up, sound will loop and the screen will say signal out of range, set to 1680 X 1050 at 60hz. Normally this wouldn't be an issue but my Nivida Geforce 555 already has these settings.I'm using windows 7 and I can't change my monitor(display) settings to 60, it reverts back to 59 because of some rounding thing windows 7 dose. Because of this wow also locks to 59 hz even though the nvida settings are 60hz, due to the monitor. Is there any way to lock ether wow or the monitor settings to 60hz to stop it from crashing?

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy windows home server has decided to stop communicating with the client machines. The connector software won't connect (reinstalling makes no difference), remote desktop times out, manually shutting down (by pressing the power button) and restarting also fails to correct the problem.I can ping the server (average response time 3ms)The Home Server machine is headless and although there is a connector the only monitor I have doesn't fit the connector.I susoect that the internal battery may have gone flat and may be the servers clock is out of sync with the client machine (but even when the server is asleep its still connected to the mains).
Someone has said that I can connect a laptop to the sever via an ethernet cable but the only instructions I can find say that I have to set the IP address on both machines to be the same - Is this correct or is there another way of connecting?

I have a HP Pavilion DV4-1030en. Specifications:
Intel Centrio 2 2,00GHz
4GB ram
nVidia 9200m GS
So, these are giving the main performance to my machine. I have also a nice Samsung D5000 TV (32" ) FullHD. When I connect my Laptop with a TV, computer start lag. It even doesn't use all of CPU (20-25%, while playing 720p video in TV with 10 fps (Fraps)). I've all latest drivers and everything should work. Using Windows 7.
I have an HP Pavilion Elite HPE machine, Windows 7, Radeon HD 5700 Series graphics card, connected to an Acer monitor and HDTV. Here's details on my setup:

My problem is that even though my HDMI cable's plugged into my Radeon graphics card, sometimes the PC only recognizes the Acer monitor and not the receiver (that's connected to the HDMI cable and my HDTV). So I end up having to plug and unplug the HDMI cable several times (sometimes 10+) before it recognizes the HDTV/receiver connection. Is there any setting that would favor the card/PC recognizing the HDMI cable more frequently? I've heard it's a handshake issue, and that maybe using a different type of cable would work. But wondering if there's a setting I could use before switching out cables.
I have an Acer Aspire laptop running Windows 7 Home Premium x64.
I regularly connect it to my TV monitor via HDMI cable and fall asleep watching movies (played on VLC or Windows Media Player). I set the computer to go to sleep after 1 hour.
Multimedia Settings are set to "Allow computer to sleep" under "When Sharing Media" in the Power Management section.
Screensaver is disabled. I have overrided my audio driver, since powercfg command suggested it may be a conflict.
If I am playing a movie without the HDMI cable plugged in, the computer goes into sleep mode right on schedule. It is only when I have the HDMI cable plugged into my TV monitor, that it refuses to enter sleep mode.
I just installed a new copy of win 7. My computer doesn't recognize my printer or ethernet cable. What drivers do I need? Any special order?

The CAT 5 Ethernet cable network cable is attached to our main Linksys WRT320N DD-WRT router ---> Motorola SB5101U DOCSIS 2.0 Cable Modem ---> Coaxial cable from wall outlet. Another computer is also directly connected to the same router via CAT 5 Ethernet cable and two more computers are wirelessly connected to the same router and none of these three PCs are experiencing issues so this should rule out the router as the culprit.if I leave the computer on (even for hours) with no network cable attached to the computer, it does not turn off. But as soon as I plug in the network cable, the PC will shut itself off within 5-15min.Based on the same scenario as described above, here are the troubleshooting attempts I made without success, except for numbers 4 and 6:
1. Switched to different network cable and router port.
2. Disabled Network Adapter connections in "Network adapter settings" for both the onboard ethernet port and wireless adapter.
3. Ran MSCONFIG.EXE and rebooted in diagnostic mode. Only basic Windows services are loaded. No startup programs are loaded.
4. Rebooted in Safe Mode with networking but could not establish any network LAN/WAN connection. Computer did not shut off!
5. Cloned entire hard disk to another hard disk and switched SATA data and power cables on the same computer.
6. Installed fresh Windows on different hard drive on the same computer. Computer did not shut off!
Out of those 6, only numbers 4 and 6 were where the computer remained on and didn't shut off at all after the network cable cable was plugged in.
