After i press the on button of my HP pavillion, a pause of a few seconds occurs before it will start up. I get a message critiaclo error for boot performance in the event file.

Computer rarely restarts during the time I am using it. It restarts if I leave stuff downloading overnight or if I leave on during the day. I then have to re-install any software I installed the previous time because it says it was shutdown improperly ( CRASHED).
I then check the Event logger and see it has multiple crash reports.

I show 20 of these crashes so far and I just built the system yesterday. I need help in determining what could be causing this. The motherboard? Old Videocard? Windows 7? 64 Bit platform? Any thoughts?

All parts are brand new except for the videocard which is a NVIDIA Geforce 7300 GS
Every time the computer is turned on or restarted it runs Starup Repair. When i look at the diagnosis it says 'boot critical file c:\ci.dll is corrupt'. I have already tried to restore the computer but i don't have the discs where i have backed up the computer. I have also run a virus scan with Avira and it did pick up 4 viruses and i removed them but the error still occurs.
View 2 Replies View RelatedYesterday morning, I re-seated my HSF and also installed an old DVD burner from my old computer into my newly built one (built on 11/6/09). It should be a pretty fast system (i7 920, 120-GB SSD, 6GB DDR3 OCZ Platinum...), and I was fine with the boot time before yesterday (though I think it was still closer to a minute), but after I started it up yesterday (post install), it took a long time to start up and seemed to hang on the "Starting Windows" screen.
I've done alot of researching, and can't quite figure out what is wrong, though maybe it has to do with the DVD drive I put in. I checked the device, and it says it is working properly and it says the driver is up to date.
This Error appeared yesterday in the log (though I just checked the log today). This error comes up as a Warning almost everyday in the event log (except 2 Fridays ago ?), along with Event ID 300 for most of the previous week.
Any ideas? The only thing that I can think of is to do a re-install of Windows 7 (64bit), but I'm a bit nervous about that.
My PC is just under 2 years old. It's a Dell Inspiron in which I upgraded the PSU (Corsair 550W) and the graphics card running Windows 7 Home Premium 64. Until earlier this year, I had no problems with it at all. I started getting crashes early/mid Feb. I recently (last week) replaced all the RAM, upgrading from 6GB to 8GB (Corsair). I reformatted and reinstalled Windows 7 completely. Including removing all the Dell partitions (was originally setup by them).
Up until the end of Feb 2012 I had Sophos running on my machine but currently need to reinstall virus checker. I try to keep everything updated. I updated the BIOS and graphics drivers; I cleaned my fans. I've run various diagnostics etc but I keep getting these crashes. It seems to happen particularly often when I'm playing Star Wars: the Old Republic but not exclusively. I've included all the files for analysis.
Recently I've been having a really odd problem with my computer. When left on for seemingly random periods of time it will just restart for no reason. It's never happened while I've been doing anything important, but I sleep in the same room and I notice the bios beeps. When I come back to the computer after it's been improperly restarted I must log in. Upon logging in I am met with a dialog box that says windows has shut down improperly, etc, etc. I click check for solutions and the dialog box just disappears. Absolutely no result to doing that.I then check computer management to see what the cause is. I receive the following:

This has happened 5 times. I was hoping it was just something power related as my house is pretty old, but I'm using a surge protector so I'm not quite sure. Now that it's happened this many times I realize it's not just going to go away and it could be pretty bad for my hardware.
i downloaded a trial progran and deleted it, then i had problems with windows, booted eventually after 6 minutes but no internet and i get this error message, windows cannot connect to systen event services,log in as admin and check what services fail to load, but it wont even do that. my system restore has also been disabled etc. i tried a repair but no joy, so i tried an upgrade but, because the installed version on the PC is newer than the CD version it wont do the upgrade. i am trying to avoid a clean install. how can i get past the "you have a newer version of windows" and do the upgrade,

After several minutes, I get the message: "Start-up Repair cannot this repair this computer automatically." When I click on "View problem details," everything looks fine except for "Root cause found: Boot critical file D:CI.dll is corrupt." This happens every time I try to restart the computer. I've tried System Restore and System Image Recovery to no avail.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a FUJITSU LIFEBOOK LH531 (Intel Core i7-2640M CPU @2.80GHz, 8 GB RAM running Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 x64).Since 2 days the notebook has become too slow. The boot process is now taking 2-3 times longer. After boot, opening any program takes ages. Even when I click on START, the menu takes time to appear. I did not instal any new hardware or software when the problem started. Also I did varous virus/malware checks, nothing detected.But when I looked at the event log of my notebook - there were so many errors & warnings (see JPG attachment) - and this is affecting the performance.

Whenever I try to download/install any software now, I get this message (Windows 7 Ultimate-64 bit)

I can download the software on another PC with Windows 7 - 32 bit - save it to disk and install it just fine on the 64 bit PC.

My son turned on his computer and it stated that he has "corrupt files on the "c" drive and needs to check for consistency". When it checks, an error occurs it says bc of a "recently installed program" and "needs to restore" his computer. It then goes to a black screen with only the mouse visible. Copy of error log at time Windows 7 shut down and tried to restart. At the time this happened the system was operating collecting weather data from my weather station and automatically sending it to weatherunderground. I was reading a book at the time this happened. This message seems to deal with booting problems and not what caused Windows 7 to close and try to restart.

My anti virus (Avira 2012 Internet Suite) pops up and states I have 2 viruses. But before the AV can do anything (delete the files) Windows shuts down....I finally got into Safe Mode and tried running my AV, while it was scanning I then got a BSOD. Had to start all over again; Running MalwareBytes now before trying to do the AV scan, just to see if MalwareBytes catches anything.
I have uninstalled the only application I've installed in 3 months, and problem still persists... I have a Hijackthis log if it needs to be viewed...Just let me know and I'll upload it.

If I run Repair from my installation disk and in System Recovery Options, it says that it has detected problems and asks if I want to repair it. I think that this is because Startup Repair is trying to fix the thumbdrive that I keep my Windows 7 install files in. I am overseas now and as my computer does not have an internal optical disk drive and my external drive is back home, thus using my thumbdrive is the only way to access the repair console.
I tried running a few commands, namely:
bootrec /fixmbr
bootrec /fixboot
bootrec /rebuildbcd
Fixmbr and fixboot work, but when I run RebuildBCD, it detects C:Windows as having a Windows installation, but if I type Y(yes) or A(all), it says that the requested system device cannot be found.
I have been a Mac user for 5 years and I just built my first PC yesterday so I don't know much. Is this a hardware of software issue? I'll provide any more details if requested.

I recently changed Internet providers, from Primus to Bigpond, and suddenly my Incredimail programme ( which I have used for 15 years or so) has started giving me the message " Socket error 6001 port 587 specified file could not be decrypted"After much time spent trying to get it to work I downloaded Thunderbird, put all the necessary specs in and it works fine. With exactly the same specs, pop smtp, ports etc in Incredimail, it still gives me the same message.It's very frustrating, and yes I have gone right through Incredimails Help pages, but in the end it just tells me to contact the Internet provider, who tells me that they because Incredimail is not one of their supported programmes.
