How To Install Scanner
Jun 8, 2012I have Epson 4490 scanner that is connected to one computer running windows 7.In the same room I have another computer using windows xp.I want to be able to use the scanner on both.I have tried to install the software on the xp one,but it will not open the scanner.Just says it cannot be started.Is there a way to share the scanner between the rwo,or how can I get it installed on xp?

The Scanner drivers and utility won't install. 2. HP3310 - Same story. The printer drivers are fine, but the Scanner utility won't install. I can access the scanners via their IP address and scan on line... but I cannot access any computer from the scanners themselves.

I can't get drivers for my Canon CanoScan LiDE 50 Scanner to install on Windows 7 (works fine on Vista)
See on the Canon Website that they are not showing any Windows 7 drivers for this scanner which I can't get to work.
Tried LiDE 60 drivers but could not get these to install with my scanner.
Is there anything I can do to get this working. Or do I have to reboot Vista if I want to continue using this scanner?

Jan 2, 2012Header says it all--and yes I've searched here and despite similar (exact?) thread topics being closed as "solved" none of the "solutions" worked for me.Windows 7 64bit, Adaptec 29160 SCSI card (which device manager does not recognize), scanner shows there as "HP C2520A SCSI Processor Device."ried VueScan and it claims no scanner is installed.When I click on the scanner in device manager and try to install the drivers I got from HP (presumably for Windows 7 64bit) it says it can't find them.When I try to install them manually by left clicking the .inf file, I get the ole "the inf file you selected does not support this method of installation."On most forums the responses run the gamut of idiocy, commonest being "why don't you throw that elegant machine away and buy one of these late-model pieces of junk that are supported by windows 7."

This scanner works fine on WindowsXP, however.
I spoke Canon about this and they obviously get this complaint all the time and they say that their drivers (which they have failed to up date ) work "just fine" and that it is a problem with Windows 7 itself and that I need to speak to Microsoft (!)

Cannot Communicate With Scanner
Jan 14, 2012When selecting Epson Scan, I get the following error message:
'Cannot communicate with the scanner'
I have turned the printer off and back on again. Removed the power lead and plugged back in.I have removed the USB lead and tried it in other ports, without hubs. I have also tried a brand new USB lead.If I use PaintShop Pro X2 and select Import > Twain Acquire > I get the same message plus another message - 'No scanner Found', but if I select Twain source, I get the 'EPSON NX130/SX130/TX130/ME 340.
I can use the printer and copy functions with no problems, so, I am assuming it may be something to do with the OS - Win 7 32 bit as I have tried using WIA and get the same results.

Sep 8, 2012I am suddenly faced with a problem, which has never appeared before.I have a HP Scanner [Scanjet 5530] which since having moved from Windows XP to Windows 7 has until the last couple of days appeared as a DEVICE, and has been workable.However in the last couple of days it has disappeared from the list of Devices and its only by switching it's power supply off and on does it comeback.I can then use it for whatever needs to be done, but as soon as its not needed it disappears yet again.

Everytime I use my computer and go online, it works fine for a little while and then suddenly it slows right down and everytime I try to go anywhere it just says not responding and freezes up. The only way to fix it is to restart, and then it will be fine for a bit and then starts acting up again. I also can't see my emoticons in windows live messenger anymore either. It just shows whatever you type to make it but not the actual emoticon. I think I have a virus but my scanner hasn't found anything.
