WMP Always Starts Maximized?
Nov 27, 2010WMP is my default player for DVD's and it always starts maximized. Is it possible to make it not do that and just start at regular size?

Windows 7 Will Not Appear Maximized?
Feb 14, 2012Problem:I am using Windows 7. When I am browsing and switch to a new window it appears minimized, and I have to maximize it myself. I remember way back that there was something to do to have the new window maximized all the time.

Sep 23, 2010I downloaded IE 9 beta with no apparent problem and the installation ended with a window which said some of the IE files were in use and could not be updated. I dont know which these were since nothing was open but I continued, restarted ok, and on from there.Problem: Open IE ok but can only tab browse when windows is maximized (double boxes.)CTRL+W, right click and select "Close Tab" to close a tab, and CTRL+TAB to switch between tabs works fine no matter what the size/orientation of IE. But click on the tab "x", depress mouse wheel to close tab, and click on tab to select it will only work when maximized (double boxes.) Seems like IE 9 will only work with windows maximized. All other features work ok.Installing with no add-ons, in safe mode, or with anti-virus off makes no difference

Dec 19, 2011Whenever Firefox 8 opens, it opens in minimized mode (ie, just about covers the whole monitor screen, but not quite...hovering over single square in upper right gives a tooltip of "Maximize". I'd like it to open in maximized mode (in upper right should show double square and "Restore Down" tooltip)--how? Within the icon's shortcut on the desktop, properties>run>normal or maximize makes no difference, FF still opens minimized.
EDIT: BTW, the same thing is also happening on my laptop which is configured exactly the same as this desktop. Different computer manufacturers, but same OS and same configs for FF8.
Maximized Windows Leave Bar On Top?
Jul 30, 2011When I maximize any window, it never takes up the whole screen. Instead, it stops short about half a centimeter from the top of the screen, where I can see my desktop. Does anyone know how to fix this? I'm including a link to the screenshot that I took. The top is outlined with a red box.[URL]

Oct 5, 2011I just got a new laptop running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit. When I start it, and open up internet explorer, the program is fine and fully maximized. However when I go and close the lid, then open it again, I find a 1cm gap has appeared at the top of the program window where I can see the desktop (all three buttons still there). Then I cannot get it to fully maximize (it said it was fully maximized with the gap) until I log on again, or restart. Any suggestions. I am guessing this is a software issue, not a hardware issue right? I should say this only happens with certain programms (IE9, Paint, document explorer, picture explorer etc.

Jul 18, 2011I bought myself a new laptop recently and it arrived today. When I maximize a Window, it sometimes leaves space above the window. It is very, very noticeable, at about half a centimeter in height. It doesn't always happen, but when it does, it is only fixed by logging off and back on again, and even then it is only temporarily fixed. If I put my computer onto standby and then bring it back on, the problem is often created, but sometimes it just happens if I launch a program. Jun 15, 2012I have an eMachines T5254 that has Windows 7 Home Premium on it, upgraded from Vista.
We recently located our home computers, modem and router to another room. I reconnected everything with the same cables, and it came on fine. After an automatic Systems Update it did not come back on, and now when I try to boot from either the Boot Manager or Advanced Boot Screen, at every option it loads files and then, before or during the time when the lights and logo start to appear, it turns off. I do not have the recovery disk, and in any case my DVD-RW has not worked for about a year.
I have a new DVD-RW which I am going to install, but I am uncertain if that will solve the problem. Is there any way to get to a Command prompt without Windows booting up, and at least access the hard drive that way, or am I up the well known tributary with inadequate means of propulsion?
