I downloaded IE 9 beta with no apparent problem and the installation ended with a window which said some of the IE files were in use and could not be updated. I dont know which these were since nothing was open but I continued, restarted ok, and on from there.Problem: Open IE ok but can only tab browse when windows is maximized (double boxes.)CTRL+W, right click and select "Close Tab" to close a tab, and CTRL+TAB to switch between tabs works fine no matter what the size/orientation of IE. But click on the tab "x", depress mouse wheel to close tab, and click on tab to select it will only work when maximized (double boxes.) Seems like IE 9 will only work with windows maximized. All other features work ok.Installing with no add-ons, in safe mode, or with anti-virus off makes no difference
Problem:I am using Windows 7. When I am browsing and switch to a new window it appears minimized, and I have to maximize it myself. I remember way back that there was something to do to have the new window maximized all the time.
When I maximize any window, it never takes up the whole screen. Instead, it stops short about half a centimeter from the top of the screen, where I can see my desktop. Does anyone know how to fix this? I'm including a link to the screenshot that I took. The top is outlined with a red box.[URL]
I just got a new laptop running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit. When I start it, and open up internet explorer, the program is fine and fully maximized. However when I go and close the lid, then open it again, I find a 1cm gap has appeared at the top of the program window where I can see the desktop (all three buttons still there). Then I cannot get it to fully maximize (it said it was fully maximized with the gap) until I log on again, or restart. Any suggestions. I am guessing this is a software issue, not a hardware issue right? I should say this only happens with certain programms (IE9, Paint, document explorer, picture explorer etc.
i have a new nvidia video card that allows me 3 monitors - however the first two are 'spanned' giving me a work area of 3840 x 1080 (which is perfect for my video editing), HOWEVER:when clicking the maximize symbol in the upper right hand corner the application window will spread across both monitors.is it possible, or is there any software, that will allow me to set the size of a maximized window?i also get all windows messages opening in the center of the two screens, very annoying and sometimes hard to read.
When maximizing any new window I would like them to be automatically maximized like this:(bordered)instead of like this(borderless)Ideally I would like to override the borderless maximized state with the bordered maximized state, so that I never have to encounter the borderless maximized state.side from looking better (personal preference) it is also easer to adjust the windows with the freesnap program (It is not possible to adjust the window in freesnap if the window is in the borderless maximized state.
windows media player underlaps the taskbar when maximized. Also websites such as facebook have the bottom part going under the taskbar so i can't chat to people.
Seen several different posts about this issue but really no definitive answer as to why is occurring. Never happened with XP or Vista only Windows 7. Seems most users with this issue report having a Dell computer but mine is a Toshiba Satellite L505. I just find it very annoying to have approximately half inch of desktop space visible on top of any type maximized window, browser window, explorer window, whatever.
Is there a possible way to switch Windows users while a game is maximized? I feel like I used to have a windows system that had a button on the keyboard that I would accidentally press from time to time, and it would send me directly to my windows users list while keeping my full-screen game active. I'm looking for that same functionality here.
Having problems with and docx files opening within the browser. In XP you would just check the browse in same window option in folder options, file types. However this option no longer exists after XP. Is there a registry setting that controls this? I have seen this issue a couple of times and I have tried the following KB article steps, but the issue still persists.Windows 7 ProfessionalIE8Office 2010 How to configure Internet Explorer to open Office documents in the appropriate Office program instead of in Internet Explorer
i want to make my WMP play on a maximized screen, i have to drag to fit the screen, or press maximize. any idea on how to keep it maximized all the time, then if i want to go full screen, i can.
I just bought my Acer laptop 5057G Windows 7 Home Premium 32 last December. I just woke up one day and my laptop don't have sound when I play videos and music, and I can't surf the internet at all though I am connected to the internet. It says, Error 324(net: ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE): The server closed the connetion without sending any data.
Whenever Firefox 8 opens, it opens in minimized mode (ie, just about covers the whole monitor screen, but not quite...hovering over single square in upper right gives a tooltip of "Maximize". I'd like it to open in maximized mode (in upper right should show double square and "Restore Down" tooltip)--how? Within the icon's shortcut on the desktop, properties>run>normal or maximize makes no difference, FF still opens minimized.
EDIT: BTW, the same thing is also happening on my laptop which is configured exactly the same as this desktop. Different computer manufacturers, but same OS and same configs for FF8.
I bought myself a new laptop recently and it arrived today. When I maximize a Window, it sometimes leaves space above the window. It is very, very noticeable, at about half a centimeter in height. It doesn't always happen, but when it does, it is only fixed by logging off and back on again, and even then it is only temporarily fixed. If I put my computer onto standby and then bring it back on, the problem is often created, but sometimes it just happens if I launch a program. The link below goes to a screenshot showing the problem. It leaves space above my window and in that space my desktop is visible. [URL].

I cannot seen the bottom of the screen or window(full window or bottom tab) when it is maximized. I am facing this problem since two days, earlier it ok( i use to see full window when it is maximized).
I have some programs that, when the PC boots, open in a window. I would like them to open maximized (they are not listed in the Startup folder in Start > All Programs).
I cannot open my favorites websites on the maximised size i have tried to open them then maximise and close but they dont reopen full size. This is also happening with media player and other programs .
basically as it say's in the title WMP12 now opens maximized every time I play a MP3 file. It used to always just play the song and be minimized. Its really annoying every time you click for a MP3 to play it goes back to this maximized window.
When I maximize the flash player when we are watching a video the screen stops and starts every 3-4 minutes. If I minimize the screen this doesnt happen. I have re-installed flash and this happens across all browsers.
i can't browse my computer when i'm going to save a file either when i'm gonna upload something somewhere.

my guess is have to be something with the libraries but can't figure it out.. i've tried everything that is 'obvious' like dragging folders into the white area etc.
If I browse my Windows 7 PC via UNC (\192.168.0.x) on an XP PC I am unable to get a list of shares. If I Directly open \192.168.0.xShareName that will work perfectly. I have a vista PC on the same network and that can see the root fine. The only thing that I can think of is that SP1 has done something. but not sure why it would only effect showing the list of shares. As a side note in the event log i see the "Software Protection Service" keeps stopping and then starting, I tried googling it but no one seems to know if this is usual behavior to check the licence or if it shouldn't stop.
I have a strange problem. Currently i'm running Windows 7 32bit. I surf internet on my home computer. Everything was going fine but today when i started my computer and tried to browse few sites all the sites did not load. google.com gmail.com tomshardware.com etc. loaded but facebook.com hotmail.com softepedia.com did not load. I have performed a full system scan with Norton Internet Security 2011 and MalwareBytes it detected one virus and i removed it. But still the problem persists what might be the reason?

I'm having what I consider to be a unique problem that even my roommate who works in tech support can't seem to figure out. I was recently a victim of...long story short, a "spider" program. I've since stopped it from collecting data, etc. and locked down my router to only allow certain MAC IDs, but now no matter which browser I use (IE,FF,Ch), I am unable to open a windows explorer window to browse for a file to upload...in this case I'm attempting to add a "gig" to fiverr.com and they require that I upload a picture, but nothing happens. The following are steps that I've already taken, yet the problem persists:Full AVG virus scan: leaned/quarantined all issueshijackthis: no rogue BHOs foundMalwarebytes full scan: all objects cleanedSpybot S&D full scan: all objects cleanedWindows event viewer: no mention or error of trying to open window to upload file.
I just installed windows 7 home premium 64 bit, but for some reason, icant browse the Internet even though I'm connected. Ie thinks I'm not connected and nothing happens on firefox. I've tried the troubleshooter, disconnected and reconnected to the wireless network, and restarted my computer. Nothing changes.
I don't know if this is relevant but I got Microsoft tech support to help me download the file since I was having difficulties, and he somehow managed to disable all 3rd party programs. I'm not sure if that's related to this situation, and I don't know how to enable the programs again...
