WMC Does Not Play Protected Content Through Dell HDMI Port
Mar 6, 2012
I recorded premium channel movies on a Dell Inspiron n5110 laptop. I used a SiliconDust HD Home Rum CableCard tuner. The movies play fine on the laptop screen. When I plug in into the TV via it's HDMI port, it does not play back the premium channels recordings. This is the message. "Display Driver Error - The video playback device does not support playback of protected content."
I got myself a new blu-ray, and popped it into my external bd player and it was playing nicely. But when I got to the middle, I paused it and left for a few, came back, and now it stated there was a problem. I got a warning stating that my CyberLink PowerDVD "cannot play back the protected content - (Code - 0122)" and to try either 1) make sure the graphics card driver meets the requirments, or 2) do not use dual monitors. I don't have two monitors, and I thought my graphics card was fine, no problems. Also, I ran its BD advisor tool, and there were all okays except for two: graphics card driver: 8.15.10.1872, and HDCP-compliant display: no.I have no idea what's going on, and everything was fine until this showed up. My graphics is an Intel graphics media accelerator driver, and I recently checked its properties: single display, color quality 32-bit, 1080 resolution, refresh rate 60 hetz, color correction is all, and hot keys enabled. Don't know what to look for, and everything seems fine.
I upgraded my husbands computer from Windows Vista to Windows 7 Home Premium 32bit. Did a full backup under Vista to an external drive, and also used Easy Transfer. Wanted to do a clean install and format the hard drive due to past computer problems. All went fine until I used easy transfer to put the ''old''files back onto the computer after the new Win 7 install. I'm getting a ''protected content migration'' error, asking for a password. My husband did not have a password on the old user account, but just to be sure we have tried every password that we have used. No luck with any of them. How do I know what it is that we no longer have access to? Is there anyway for me to recover access to these files that are supposedly password protected? Should I do anything as drastic as just doing a full restore back to Windows Vista from the backup copy and change anything and then start over?
i have a sony vaio cw series..has blu-ray built in to it..i put in a blu-ray disc and opened up windvd (which is the only program it's telling me i can open it with) to play it and it's giving me this error---STOP, YOUR DISPLAY ENVIRONMENT DOES NOT SUPPORT PROTECTED CONTENT PLAYBACK.
now this is the new transformers blu-ray which plays fine on a regular blu-ray player...i have my laptob hooked up to my tv through hdmi if that makes any difference..anyone have any ideas??
Last night my new laptop arrived (XPS), still getting used to windows 7 etc... but i thought i would watch something through my t.v. Plugged HDMI cable in back of laptop straight in to t.v, changed the source and straight away i had a lovely sharpe picture of my deskop instantly.... or so i thought
im getting the middle part of my screen fine - but it is cropped so i cant see the tool bar (its too low) and the desktop icons are only veiwable if i move them closer in screen! Ideally i want to have identical screens on both so i can use both at sam time, but currently i can only view either or atm? and the t.v one being crop means i can use it as a computer (No toolbar etc..)
I could figure this out on XP but windows 7 seems beyond me atm!
My laptop is several years old and I haven't had the need, until now, to use the HDMI port. I plugged a Kodak video camera into the port and the camera is supposed to come on automatically and begin the download of software to use with the camera. This doesn't happen and I get no error message.
I have two HP Pavillion 9700US 17" series laptops and either of the HDMI ports have audio. Can the sound card be changed if that is where the issue is.
Sony notebook with HD AMD6630 M. HDMI port not giving signal to TV. When I rollback the Intel Gaphics driver the HDMI signal comes alive but then goes dead after reboot. I have been trying to solve this for 2 weeks without success.
My wife's laptop (Dell Inspiron 1525) with Mobile Intel 965 Express chipset family, have a problem to configure the correct resolution for LCD TV (Samsung LN32R81BX/XBG) with 1366x768 resolution. The laptop have installed a Windows 7 x64 Professional. When the LCD TV is connected with HDMI port is not possible to configure the 1366x768 resolution only can configure 4:3 resolution. I have update all drivers but for LCD TV does not exist driver. I am looking for a manual resolution configuration. In Windows XP and earlier that configuration was possible but in Windows 7 I do not found it.exist? or another solution?
Currently having a lot of trouble to even get any sound out of stereo mix. I'm wanting to record sound from my PC but I'm not too sure if I can with the current set up I have. I'm using my Samsung TV which is plugged into the HDMI port on my PC and using the speakers already in/on the TV. I've went to the properties of stereo mix changed the "playback through this device" to my TV and I don't get any sound coming from Stereo mix on any program and the green bars aren't going up and down either.
Yesterday, I bought a 10m HDMI cable and I plug it from my TV to my CPU. Everything was fine. The only thing was one of the games which requires Port COM1 and COM2 could not access.
I tried disabling the HDMI sound and it worked. Is there any way to change the COM port for the HDMI sound? I tried going settings on Windows and could not find any.
I just need the sound because it's a music game, from the Arcade. Everything was perfect before plugging my computer to the HDMI.

I have an xfx radeon hd 6790. I am using the hdmi port and the display port for two tvs and I am using the vga (I think its called the vga) port it sez right on the box that it supports 3 monitors. I can switch between any two that I want but I cant get all three to work at the same time. I try to use all three at the same time I get "to extend the display another display must be disabled".
So I was having some audio problems with my computer so I figured updating the drivers would be the best bet. I decided I'd use one of those programs that can check your driver and download the driver you need. I followed the instructions and installed what seems to be called AmdEHCI onto my computer. Now whenever I turn on my HDTV which I have connected via the HDMI on my ATI Raedon 6950 the audio claims that it is not connected. Now every time I want audio to come out of my HDMI I have to disable to display and then re-enable it. I used to be able to turn my TV on and off whenever I wanted and I would still have audio functioning properly.Something that caught my attention was that when I left the properties window opened for the HDMI audio and then turned on my TV I would get a message that says "The device you are configuring has been removed." even though I haven't touched anything other than the power button on my TV to turn it on.
I can't play dvd's when I connect my laptop (HP dv7 series, Windows 7 Pro x64) to a TV (a Toshiba I think) via HDMI. If I disconnect the HDMI-cable I can play dvd's in both WMP and VLC as normal. When I connect the HDMI-cable I can see my desktop on the TV but I can't play dvd's in neither WMP nor VLC. Both WMP and VLC acts as if the dvd's are a corrupt or unsupported file, except for the lack of a warning.
I'm looking to set my PC up to play through my TV (a Panasonic TH42PX60b) via a HDMI cable, however there appears to be no sound! I have tried changing the default devices but it still won't work! Should the HDMI carry the signal or do I need to run a 3.5 jack as well.
I have a new Dell Inspiron 620MT with Windows 7 and have just run the Setup procedures. This included the creation of 3 DVD's for Recovery Disks. My hard drive has 33 GB of content as delivered, including Microsoft Office Home and Business and several "freebies" Dell includes. The setup told me my 3 DVD's include 10.88GB, I "think" but am not sure Setup told me it was using compression to load the DVD's. What is the content of these 3 DVD's? I've called Dell multiple times and get conflicting, contradictory and changing answers to my question? I am wondering if it is ONLY Windows 7 or is it some partial or complete set of everything on my hard drive? Unrelated, Dell support sent me a flash drive of Windows 7 restore software that is "bootable." I looked at it and it contains only 4GB. That is why I am thinking there may be more content on the 3 DVD's 10.88 GB. I simply want to know what I have as a base in the way of backup BEFORE I migrate everything from my 7 year very old Dell Dimension 3000.
I have recently downloaded Dell AIO 946 printer driver - successfully - but when I request Windows 7 pc to print a document it cannot as it can't find the printer port. Being new to this I need guidance as to how to ascertain which port is correct. Printer has USB cable connected and from port tab is using LPT1 port is this the correct one? Please help - I am totally confused????
I am having a sony LCD TV KLV-26S550A as well as a dell xps laptop with this config : 17.3" screen windows 7 Ultimate Nvidia GT435 Card with 1 GB ram 4 GB 1333 MHz RAM
When I am trying to connect the HDMI o/p of lappi to sony TV, TV says unsupported signal. When I connected same cord with desktop, the LCD runs fine:means HDMI cable is fine. Now when I connected my laptop to samsung LCD using same HDMI port & cable it run fine. So whats the problem in connecting dell laptop to sony only. As all other sets are working fine.
I also have no sound coming from my Hdmi out after upgrading to RC 7.
I have a Dell XPS 1330 notebook. Audio is Nvidia HD Audio and IDT HD audio codec, both have latest drivers.
When i open Sound mixer and set HDMI to default device and default com device i see sound coming from source and registring on the volume bar graphs.
It seems to stop right at the cable. My computer (unlike a couple of other posts i saw) does recognize the cable and seems to be doing everything right.. just no sound through my .
Anyone have any ideas? i really don't want to go back to vista.
I am running windows seven with an AMD Athlon X2 4850e 2.5GHz card and have a flat panel television setup via hdmi and a stereo receiver/ speakers through the sound card out. I'd like sound to come out of both hdmi and the sound port that way I can here music through the stereo but when I watch standard television programs I can here through the television and turn off the receiver. the only way I've found to control the sound is to set hdmi or sound card to default in the control panel>sound. so switching back and forth is a big pain.
I have connected my hdmi cable as usual but this time i had on tv display NO SIGNAL. When i connect another pc to check the cable it seems to work correctly. The problem is coming from my pc.
I have seen settings in other operating systems to turn on or off system sounds but have never had the computer play actual audio through the system sound itself.Anyways im woindering if someone can tell me how to turn this on, some of the computers in my office do this others dont and its really useful for employees watching 5 min training vids, not to have to hook up speakers etc. should have specified these systems are all on win7 and there are all the same model/components.
i use a dell laptop and i cant be able to play any game even the OS games. it says directDraw acceleration, DirectD3 acceleration and AGP texture acceleration are not available. Ii also says hardware acceleration is disabled?
I'm trying to hook up my TV with my computer, and for the most part it's working. The video goes through and I get how to control it and everything. The only thing not working is the sound.
I'm using an HDMI to HDMI cable, and like I said the video is fine. Also, when the cable is plugged into my boyfriend's laptop, the sound comes out of the TV.
So this must mean the problem is with my computer specifically. Although, this computer is only a month old, so I wouldn't think anything is out of date.
I recently installed new software that requires port 8080 to function. When I try to run the software I get an error that port 8080 is being used. How do I check to see what process is using port 8080 so that I can open up the port to run the software? MACHINE: Windows 7x64
