My laptop is several years old and I haven't had the need, until now, to use the HDMI port. I plugged a Kodak video camera into the port and the camera is supposed to come on automatically and begin the download of software to use with the camera. This doesn't happen and I get no error message.

I have a Zotac 570 gtx connected via HDMI cable to my Asus VE258 LED monitor.I've had this video card and monitor setup working before with the exact cable, card and monitor.Something changed in my system where the monitor is no longer recognized for what it is. When i go into my Nvidia control panel under change resolution 1.Digital Display, 2. DVI-PC Display - Resolution 1080p 59 Hz. There is no DVI cable plugged into the computer and the monitor is set on HDMI input. When i go to my Audio playback devices, the HDMI connection does not show up at all, even as disabled or disconnected.When i go to play a game (Diablo 3, Skyrim, Farcry2) The game either doesn't open (skyrim) giving me the error that resolution is not recognized (but then does not give me any resolutions to choose from in the options menu) or will play (Diablo 3) but is stuck on extremely low resolutions with only 2 options.
Here's what i've done. Contacted Zotac and had them send me the most recent drivers for the video card. Uninstalled originals and re-installed the new ones. Contacted Asus (they say its not the monitor as long as its set on HDMI input) I am unable to find a driver that will make my computer (Windows 7) recognize the monitor for what it is. Zotac failed after their attempt with the driver and told me to RMA the card. So i did... i waited a month.
Last night my new laptop arrived (XPS), still getting used to windows 7 etc... but i thought i would watch something through my t.v. Plugged HDMI cable in back of laptop straight in to t.v, changed the source and straight away i had a lovely sharpe picture of my deskop instantly.... or so i thought
im getting the middle part of my screen fine - but it is cropped so i cant see the tool bar (its too low) and the desktop icons are only veiwable if i move them closer in screen! Ideally i want to have identical screens on both so i can use both at sam time, but currently i can only view either or atm? and the t.v one being crop means i can use it as a computer (No toolbar etc..)
I could figure this out on XP but windows 7 seems beyond me atm!
I have two HP Pavillion 9700US 17" series laptops and either of the HDMI ports have audio. Can the sound card be changed if that is where the issue is.

View 3 Replies View RelatedMy wife's laptop (Dell Inspiron 1525) with Mobile Intel 965 Express chipset family, have a problem to configure the correct resolution for LCD TV (Samsung LN32R81BX/XBG) with 1366x768 resolution. The laptop have installed a Windows 7 x64 Professional. When the LCD TV is connected with HDMI port is not possible to configure the 1366x768 resolution only can configure 4:3 resolution. I have update all drivers but for LCD TV does not exist driver. I am looking for a manual resolution configuration. In Windows XP and earlier that configuration was possible but in Windows 7 I do not found it.exist? or another solution?

I'm wanting to record sound from my PC but I'm not too sure if I can with the current set up I have. I'm using my Samsung TV which is plugged into the HDMI port on my PC and using the speakers already in/on the TV. I've went to the properties of stereo mix changed the "playback through this device" to my TV and I don't get any sound coming from Stereo mix on any program and the green bars aren't going up and down either.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a Windows 7 enterprise 64 bit pc and an Onkyo receiver. I used to have them linked with an aux cable for music. But since I had enough of the bad sound quality I bought an optical cable and connected it. Now I have the problem that my subwoofer gives a lot of less sound then with the aux cable with the exact same settings and music. Also my pc recognises the optical cable as an HDMI cable and I don't think this is right. I can't change any settings either in the sound.
Pc Wizard told me I have this onboard sound card: ASRock SB600 High Definition Audio Controller Pine Technology HD48x0 audio
i tried to connect my TV to my laptop through the HDMI port.
but under the screen resolution there is only my main screen.
I recorded premium channel movies on a Dell Inspiron n5110 laptop. I used a SiliconDust HD Home Rum CableCard tuner. The movies play fine on the laptop screen. When I plug in into the TV via it's HDMI port, it does not play back the premium channels recordings. This is the message. "Display Driver Error - The video playback device does not support playback of protected content."
View 4 Replies View RelatedYesterday, I bought a 10m HDMI cable and I plug it from my TV to my CPU. Everything was fine. The only thing was one of the games which requires Port COM1 and COM2 could not access.
I tried disabling the HDMI sound and it worked. Is there any way to change the COM port for the HDMI sound? I tried going settings on Windows and could not find any.
I just need the sound because it's a music game, from the Arcade. Everything was perfect before plugging my computer to the HDMI.

I have an xfx radeon hd 6790. I am using the hdmi port and the display port for two tvs and I am using the vga (I think its called the vga) port it sez right on the box that it supports 3 monitors. I can switch between any two that I want but I cant get all three to work at the same time. I try to use all three at the same time I get "to extend the display another display must be disabled".

I bought a sweex wifi usb adapter, plugged it in usb port and I heard ... ding dong... after 1 second ding dong etc etc. So it sees something and a second later it doesn't. It ended up with "unkown device" in device manager. and device manager refreshes all the time just as if it's plugged in and out all the time. So I went back to store and there it's working fine.
I tried 2 of the 3 usb ports end there's the same problem. But when I plug in in 3rd usb port there isn't a problem at all!! It finds drivers automatically from windows update and wifi works. But if I plug it in another usb-port it just doesn't work
This all started when one day my G930 Logitech headset started becoming a pain in the ass to use. I had the charging dock plugged into one of the two USB ports behind my HP ZR30w monitor.Then after a few days I began to get a USB Device Not Recognized Error constantly. Like you hear the Windows Pinging sound when you connect and disconnect a USB device all the time. Its like spamming me with the sound. I tracked it down to this USB port, Port_#0001.Hub_#0011 (which is the USB port behind my monitor HP ZR30w, it is the inner most USB on the back.I ran virus scans, spyware scans and nothing shows up, I had to rule out any fishy stuff. I have no idea how to get this error to stop showing up...it literally spams me with the error and sound when nothing is plugged in to that port...as I am typing this its yelling at me.The catch is though, this is when the USB port is empty...nothing is plugged into it...it is like a phantom USB port that is just going haywire...Now if I plug a device in to it...the device works fine and the USB Device error does not show up, but for instance in this case, my G930 headset ends up disconnecting and reconnecting and throwing me errors...Is this a bad USB port? I am running Windows 7 64bit. I tried disabling the USB port all together but it still shows that a device is attempting to connect to that port and is not being recognized.Also I have updated all my drivers, updated my motherboard, the only thing i have not done is reinstall USB controllers but i do not know how to do that. In the process of finding the problematic USB port I ended up mapping all the USB ports and their numbers so how I found out which USB port it was, was due to trial and error and finding it was the one behind my monitor.

I decided I'd use one of those programs that can check your driver and download the driver you need. I followed the instructions and installed what seems to be called AmdEHCI onto my computer. Now whenever I turn on my HDTV which I have connected via the HDMI on my ATI Raedon 6950 the audio claims that it is not connected. Now every time I want audio to come out of my HDMI I have to disable to display and then re-enable it. I used to be able to turn my TV on and off whenever I wanted and I would still have audio functioning properly.Something that caught my attention was that when I left the properties window opened for the HDMI audio and then turned on my TV I would get a message that says "The device you are configuring has been removed." even though I haven't touched anything other than the power button on my TV to turn it on.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am running windows seven with an AMD Athlon X2 4850e 2.5GHz card and have a flat panel television setup via hdmi and a stereo receiver/ speakers through the sound card out. I'd like sound to come out of both hdmi and the sound port that way I can here music through the stereo but when I watch standard television programs I can here through the television and turn off the receiver. the only way I've found to control the sound is to set hdmi or sound card to default in the control panel>sound. so switching back and forth is a big pain.

I'm using an HDMI to HDMI cable, and like I said the video is fine. Also, when the cable is plugged into my boyfriend's laptop, the sound comes out of the TV.
So this must mean the problem is with my computer specifically. Although, this computer is only a month old, so I wouldn't think anything is out of date.

I tested the cable with the blue ray player and it works fine. I called Dell (still under warranty) an they were useless.I've checked the settings on the PC and I have it set to "extended" so I can see the monitor on both....no luck. View 7 Replies View Relatedok well i spent about 3 hrs and i know its not my router and its the os and i did a fresh install too im on 7600 rtm, now i got windows firewall and defender disabled, i got nod32 antivirus not with a firewall just the anti, now i got utorrent, so i use utorrents port checker, the port works for it but if i add a port to my portforwarding on my router it dont work, according to this port scanner, now if i enter it and use it as my port in utorrent it works! but anything else doesnt i dont get it i got windows firewall disabled and all that i literally think theres a hidden firewall or a virus but i know there isnt a virus i also did a scan incase so any ideas?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am using a Laptop with a dead screen by running an external monitor from vga port. I am trying to duplicate this monitor on Sony HD tv using an USB adapter to HDMI. On the first go around I got my desktop ...minus any task bars or icons. on the Sony plus sound but could not get the complete desktop to display. (I am thinking now this might have been resolution trouble and my icons were just out sight) Videos play fine on vga monitor but see just windows logo on Sony.
When I go to display settings I see "1/2 multimonitors" and it shows the Sony as 3. That is when I get lost. If I click on identify it shows a giant " 1" and "2" on my vga monitor. at the same time. Then my choices are duplicate, extend, and show desktop. Which should I use.? I am not sure if my vga monitor is 1 or 2.
There is also a "connect to projector". I messed around there and killed the vga monitor (my only one) Had to restore in safe mode to get back to normal vga output.
I can`t get surround sound over the HDMI. I have tried old drivers, and forworth to the newest. Nothing gives me surround. I have a Yamahasurround reciver that gives me the sound. And it works anything else I have tried on it. Inside windows, if I trie to go to sound options, goes to configuration on the HDMI inside sound opt. I can`t get anything else than stereo.
