Can't Get Stereo Mix To Work - TV Plugged Into HDMI Port On PC
Aug 9, 2012
Currently having a lot of trouble to even get any sound out of stereo mix. I'm wanting to record sound from my PC but I'm not too sure if I can with the current set up I have. I'm using my Samsung TV which is plugged into the HDMI port on my PC and using the speakers already in/on the TV. I've went to the properties of stereo mix changed the "playback through this device" to my TV and I don't get any sound coming from Stereo mix on any program and the green bars aren't going up and down either.
I'm trying to hook up my TV with my computer, and for the most part it's working. The video goes through and I get how to control it and everything. The only thing not working is the sound.
I'm using an HDMI to HDMI cable, and like I said the video is fine. Also, when the cable is plugged into my boyfriend's laptop, the sound comes out of the TV.
So this must mean the problem is with my computer specifically. Although, this computer is only a month old, so I wouldn't think anything is out of date.
I have a Lenovo H405-7223-1GU that I bought in June 2011. Yesterday I bought a Philips 32" HDTV 720p 60Hz. My PC won't recognize my TV at a monitor via HDMI cable. The ports on the TV and the cable is fine because I can connect my DVD player with no issues. Most help is saying to right click desktop, click "screen resolution"and then just tell the PC it's ok to send info over HDMI. That would be fine but I can't have my monitor and HDMI plugged in at the same time. As soon as the HDMI is plugged in my monitor (VGA) goes blank then comes back on with only the background image showing. No start button, no icons, no toolbar
I recently purchased the Phillips Universal USB from Amazon for my mp3 player; my previous one broke and now I have no way of hooking it up to my computer and putting new music on my mp3. The problem is when I plug in the usb the computer does NOTHING, nothing pops up. Nada. When I plug in other usbs they seem to work fine so I'm not sure what the problem is. What can I do to fix this?
I have an Asus K61-IC dual booting Windows 7 Professional x64 (default) & Fedora 16 x64. In Windows, whenever I plug in a HDMI cable to watch a movie on my LCD TV audio will only come out of laptop speakers and when I open audio properties it says HDMI audio not connected or something to that effect (at the moment, I'm not able to connect it to the TV) and it will not let me click on properties, but when I open the driver properties, it tells me everything is working fine. I cannot figure this out for s#%t.
My computer (windows 7 64bit desktop) at the office seems to be not able to connect to internet sometimes even though the cable is plugged directly into the internet port on the wall. Sometimes it works one day and then the next day when I come into office again, and it won't work. Every time I need to do the ipconfig release and renew then it starts to work again. I also heard that my coworker experienced the problem too when using windows 7, but the older computers running on xp never had an issue.
Last night my new laptop arrived (XPS), still getting used to windows 7 etc... but i thought i would watch something through my t.v. Plugged HDMI cable in back of laptop straight in to t.v, changed the source and straight away i had a lovely sharpe picture of my deskop instantly.... or so i thought
im getting the middle part of my screen fine - but it is cropped so i cant see the tool bar (its too low) and the desktop icons are only veiwable if i move them closer in screen! Ideally i want to have identical screens on both so i can use both at sam time, but currently i can only view either or atm? and the t.v one being crop means i can use it as a computer (No toolbar etc..)
I could figure this out on XP but windows 7 seems beyond me atm!
My laptop is several years old and I haven't had the need, until now, to use the HDMI port. I plugged a Kodak video camera into the port and the camera is supposed to come on automatically and begin the download of software to use with the camera. This doesn't happen and I get no error message.
I have two HP Pavillion 9700US 17" series laptops and either of the HDMI ports have audio. Can the sound card be changed if that is where the issue is.
Sony notebook with HD AMD6630 M. HDMI port not giving signal to TV. When I rollback the Intel Gaphics driver the HDMI signal comes alive but then goes dead after reboot. I have been trying to solve this for 2 weeks without success.
I formatted my PC and reinstalled Win7. Now Stereo Mix wont work. I've reinstalled the drivers (not sure if correct ones) and I've also checked off "show disconnected" or "show disabled".I need to record computer sound with camtasia studios to finish my Minecraft Lets Play?
My wife's laptop (Dell Inspiron 1525) with Mobile Intel 965 Express chipset family, have a problem to configure the correct resolution for LCD TV (Samsung LN32R81BX/XBG) with 1366x768 resolution. The laptop have installed a Windows 7 x64 Professional. When the LCD TV is connected with HDMI port is not possible to configure the 1366x768 resolution only can configure 4:3 resolution. I have update all drivers but for LCD TV does not exist driver. I am looking for a manual resolution configuration. In Windows XP and earlier that configuration was possible but in Windows 7 I do not found it.exist? or another solution?
I recorded premium channel movies on a Dell Inspiron n5110 laptop. I used a SiliconDust HD Home Rum CableCard tuner. The movies play fine on the laptop screen. When I plug in into the TV via it's HDMI port, it does not play back the premium channels recordings. This is the message. "Display Driver Error - The video playback device does not support playback of protected content."
Yesterday, I bought a 10m HDMI cable and I plug it from my TV to my CPU. Everything was fine. The only thing was one of the games which requires Port COM1 and COM2 could not access.
I tried disabling the HDMI sound and it worked. Is there any way to change the COM port for the HDMI sound? I tried going settings on Windows and could not find any.
I just need the sound because it's a music game, from the Arcade. Everything was perfect before plugging my computer to the HDMI.

I have an xfx radeon hd 6790. I am using the hdmi port and the display port for two tvs and I am using the vga (I think its called the vga) port it sez right on the box that it supports 3 monitors. I can switch between any two that I want but I cant get all three to work at the same time. I try to use all three at the same time I get "to extend the display another display must be disabled".
So I was having some audio problems with my computer so I figured updating the drivers would be the best bet. I decided I'd use one of those programs that can check your driver and download the driver you need. I followed the instructions and installed what seems to be called AmdEHCI onto my computer. Now whenever I turn on my HDTV which I have connected via the HDMI on my ATI Raedon 6950 the audio claims that it is not connected. Now every time I want audio to come out of my HDMI I have to disable to display and then re-enable it. I used to be able to turn my TV on and off whenever I wanted and I would still have audio functioning properly.Something that caught my attention was that when I left the properties window opened for the HDMI audio and then turned on my TV I would get a message that says "The device you are configuring has been removed." even though I haven't touched anything other than the power button on my TV to turn it on.
Here's my setup: Nvidia video card>HDMI out to Sony Home Theater System>HDMI out to Samsung HDTV. I use this to get 5.1 LPCM surround sound for video games. It worked fine until I did a firmware update on the Sony unit. Now, the HDMI audio is greyed out in Windows 7 audio playback options. Nvidia Control Panel sees the device as audio compatible, but Windows does not.Audio DOES work if I connect a different display (through the same system). I connected an Acer computer monitor and everything worked normally. It also works it I connect it directly to the Samsung TV. The Sony unit works on its own or with the Acer monitor connected. When the monitor is connected, Nvidia Control Panel sees the home theater system as Sony AV System and Audio Playback reports SonyAVSYSTEM. When the Samsung TV is plugged in, Nvidia CP sees the home theater system as Sony Digital Display and Windows audio just says the cable is unplugged (doesn't report anything). I'm getting picture with this setup, but I can't even select the audio option.
I'm going crazy at this point, I have Sony working on it from their end and Samsung insists it's not their fault. Is this a Windows problem? I find it strange that Nvidia CP can recognize the unit and marks it as audio-capable, but Windows says a cable is unplugged. I've tried all recent driver options for both Realtek and Nvidia (Betas and stable). All drivers work the same under different connections described above. That the system works normally unless PC>Theater>TV makes me think that this is a pretty specific breakdown in communication with HDMI!date:Sony representatives got back to me with the findings from their engineers. They insist that because my PS3 works on the setup, it must be an issue with my PC. Their best guess is that the devices are failing to handshake properly over the HDMI connection.
I've spent days researching this problem and have found no solutions. I plug the Microsoft wireless mobile mouse 3500 transceiver into my USB 2.0 port and the cursor movements are so erratic that the mouse is useless. I try to use a Microsoft wired mouse connected to the USB 2.0 port and it does not work at all. However, both the wireless mobile mouse and wired mouse work perfectly when plugged into one of the two USB 3.0 ports.
This problem occurs on my Dell XPS 17 L702X laptop, which is less than three weeks old. The laptop is running Win 7 Ultimate x64. I have installed the latest drivers from Microsoft's website. I have uninstalled them and reinstalled them but the problem remains. I have exchanged the Microsoft wireless mobile mouse 3500 for a new one but the identical problem remains.
I do not have this problem on my Dell Studio XPS 7100, which is also running Win 7 Ultimate x64. The same mice that fail to work properly on the laptop's USB 2.0 port work perfectly with the USB 2.0 ports on the desktop. Everything in Device Manager (laptop) is up to snuff and no problems are indicated.
The other day a speaker cord was yanked out of my computer and dismembered the head phone port. When headphones or speakers are plugged in they do not work. The main issue here is when nothing is plugged into the port my laptop speakers do not work. Its as if my computer thinks something is plugged in and has turned off its own speakers.
Ever since last night, my internal speakers will only work if something is plugged into the headphone jack, be it headphones or external speakers. This happened right after I unplugged some external speakers. In control panel, it says headphones are plugged in when they are not and that they are not plugged in when they are. Sound comes through both the speakers and the headphones when headphones are plugged in.Oddly enough, Skype login sounds still play. Windows startup sounds and all other media, videos, etc doesn't work without the headphones however.I have tried updating the sound card driver using the automatic detection program from the AMD website. Then I tried updating the sound card driver via the HP website. Then I tried a system restore. Nothing has worked so far.
A few days ago I noticed that my PC is slow unlike before. I can not run any games, I can not access NVidia Control Panel and when I check "Display" on dxdiag it does not show the device information. I went to device manager trying to disable/enable the graphic card but it told that the graphic card is turned on but that there are issues because of which the graphic card is not working properly. I tried uninstalling drivers with driver sweep and through device manager. BIOS happen to be alright and also I checked if it's plugged in correctly several times and it is. I really don't know what caused this or when. When I right click on desktop and go to Properties>Settings, there's usually graphic specs written above the resolution bar but now it doesn't show any. It happens to be that my graphic card is unable to use any resources.
PC Specs:
Intel(R)Core(TM)2Duo CPU E4600, 2.4 Ghz GeForce 8500GT 512mb.
My computer crashed about a month and I want to format it. When I plug in the keyboard to go into bios it does not work. if i plug in anything at all it doesnt work, every usb port that is.
I have a Samsung R530 running Windows 7 32bit. When I hook it up to my Philips Cineos TV via the HDMI cable, the video comes through perfectly but audio only plays through the laptop speakers. When I went into sound in control panel, this is why I see: When I click on Intel HDMI device, it is greyed out so I can neither set as default or configure. I'm not entirely sure what it means by "not plugged in".This is what comes up under device manager: And this is what I see with the Realtek audio
but there is on thing tht i want to add is tht i hav tried going into playback devices but for some reason it says nothing bout the hdmi. It just says "speakers" and "realtek digital output".
I only have this problem with 7, so I know it is not a hardware related issue. I simply can not get any sound out of my graphics card (seemingly) through HDMI. I have my bios setup to play audio from it. I've followed what everyone else has done when using the search, I have zero success. It worked before using 7, so I am 100% confident that this is a 7 issue (because it still works on Ubuntu!).All drivers and software is up to date too.
My usb ports (3) wont work. Nothing is recognize anymore. When I go in Device Manager, under universal serial bus controller, I have 5 tiny triangle with exclamation points.
When I check the specs it says:
Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19).
My little brother came home from work one night and now is screen doesn't work at all. no flickering, backlight etc. I connected it top the TV via HDMI and even that didn't show up anything. How high are the chances that his graphics card has died?
