A few days ago I noticed that my PC is slow unlike before. I can not run any games, I can not access NVidia Control Panel and when I check "Display" on dxdiag it does not show the device information. I went to device manager trying to disable/enable the graphic card but it told that the graphic card is turned on but that there are issues because of which the graphic card is not working properly. I tried uninstalling drivers with driver sweep and through device manager. BIOS happen to be alright and also I checked if it's plugged in correctly several times and it is. I really don't know what caused this or when. When I right click on desktop and go to Properties>Settings, there's usually graphic specs written above the resolution bar but now it doesn't show any. It happens to be that my graphic card is unable to use any resources.
PC Specs:
Intel(R)Core(TM)2Duo CPU
E4600, 2.4 Ghz
GeForce 8500GT 512mb.
I am running windows 7 32 bit version. I am using geforce 8500gt to connect my monitor and TV. I have extend the desktop through HDMI cable to my 52" sony LCD TV. I have set the resolution for my TV to 1920 x 1080 which should be fully supported by my TV. For some reason, the TV doesnt allow me to change the aspect of screen and the picture mode because it doesnt recognize the PC HDMI input with resolution of 1920 x 1080. However resolution setting on PC still indicate the TV has 1920 x 1080.
I have tried loading the latest nvidia driver from nvidia's website directly or let windows 7 automatically search for the driver to install. Either way after the driver is installed and rebooted, my TV will recognized the input as 1920 x 1080 right away and I am able to change the aspect and picture mode. However after maybe half hour, the problem will occur again and doesnt allow me to make aspect and picture mode adjustment. This is very weird as it has never happen before when I was running vista.
Anything that I plug into the usb ports isn't recognized on my computer. When I plug something in, my computer doesn't make the usual "bloomp" sound and nothing pops up. When I search for my usb in my computer, it's not there. My computer acts like I didn't plug anything in.
i installed and active my ultimate windows x86, but it says your graphic card doesn't support aero, so what should i do? is it possible to solve it with getting new driver version?
I've spent days researching this problem and have found no solutions. I plug the Microsoft wireless mobile mouse 3500 transceiver into my USB 2.0 port and the cursor movements are so erratic that the mouse is useless. I try to use a Microsoft wired mouse connected to the USB 2.0 port and it does not work at all. However, both the wireless mobile mouse and wired mouse work perfectly when plugged into one of the two USB 3.0 ports.
This problem occurs on my Dell XPS 17 L702X laptop, which is less than three weeks old. The laptop is running Win 7 Ultimate x64. I have installed the latest drivers from Microsoft's website. I have uninstalled them and reinstalled them but the problem remains. I have exchanged the Microsoft wireless mobile mouse 3500 for a new one but the identical problem remains.
I do not have this problem on my Dell Studio XPS 7100, which is also running Win 7 Ultimate x64. The same mice that fail to work properly on the laptop's USB 2.0 port work perfectly with the USB 2.0 ports on the desktop. Everything in Device Manager (laptop) is up to snuff and no problems are indicated.
The other day a speaker cord was yanked out of my computer and dismembered the head phone port. When headphones or speakers are plugged in they do not work. The main issue here is when nothing is plugged into the port my laptop speakers do not work. Its as if my computer thinks something is plugged in and has turned off its own speakers.
Ever since last night, my internal speakers will only work if something is plugged into the headphone jack, be it headphones or external speakers. This happened right after I unplugged some external speakers. In control panel, it says headphones are plugged in when they are not and that they are not plugged in when they are. Sound comes through both the speakers and the headphones when headphones are plugged in.Oddly enough, Skype login sounds still play. Windows startup sounds and all other media, videos, etc doesn't work without the headphones however.I have tried updating the sound card driver using the automatic detection program from the AMD website. Then I tried updating the sound card driver via the HP website. Then I tried a system restore. Nothing has worked so far.
Currently having a lot of trouble to even get any sound out of stereo mix. I'm wanting to record sound from my PC but I'm not too sure if I can with the current set up I have. I'm using my Samsung TV which is plugged into the HDMI port on my PC and using the speakers already in/on the TV. I've went to the properties of stereo mix changed the "playback through this device" to my TV and I don't get any sound coming from Stereo mix on any program and the green bars aren't going up and down either.
I am planning on finally upgrading to Windows 7, but i want to make sure my graphics card works. It is a nvidia fx5500, and i heard that there were problems with it giving BSOD and such. Can i just use windows update stuff to download the drivers and then it works, or do i have to download the vista drivers and then install them in compatibility mode, or will it give me a BSOD?

(My first PCIExpress card - be gentle ;-) Here's what I've been doing
for what seems like the best part of two days -
1 Boot in safe mode, disable 8500. Reboot. 2 Drivesweeper'd nVidia display drivers in safe mode. Reboot. 3 Restart in safe mode to verify drivers gone, but 7 just goes ahead
and renistalls 195.62 anyway (A moderator on the nVidia boards says
that these latest drivers should NOT be installed in safe mode.) & asks
for a reboot.
4 Reboot as instructed, then screen blanks after entering password;
pretty much what I've gotten from day 1.
> Now, just today I tried something I saw somewhere here (?) where
A I reboot the PC (after 1,2,3 above) with my monitor OFF B Enter my password 'blind' C I finally get to a proper desktop which appears to be using the
correct drivers (Refresh rate looks much better) but I can't verify
graphics card changes, as this causes a blank screen again.
Monitor is the only device plugged into the GF card.
I just got this my new pc, and i also got a monitor with it. The computer had a integrated intel video card, and an Nvidia 8500GT. Is it possible to plug the secondary monitor into the integrated intel card, and use the Nvidia for my main display?
The other day i had a friend delete some programs from my Asus laptop on startup and running processes to make my computer boot up faster. I think we did something that makes the fn key not work anymore. how to restore this functionality?
I have bought a HP 6730b notebook (type: HP KU216ET), it has got built-in luetooth. I have installed 32bit Windows 7, but the bluetooth doesn't work. I cannot find any driver to make that working good.. HP Compaq 6730b Notebook PC*-* Download drivers and software - HP Business Support Center - here is a driver for XP, but when I install, it said that I have to turn on Bluetooth... I don't know what to do.I don't know what's the type of the built-in Bluetooth, maybe broadcom, I tried this driver: Broadcom.com - Bluetooth Software Download
Recently, I did a clean install of Windows 7 Home Premium on my MSI GE600. At first, the touchpad behaved the way it should. But now, it is not even detected. I rebooted the laptop and it worked again. Most of the time it doesnt work though.
I have installed the Elantech driver of the MSI site
Basically, I bought a new USB stick and plugged it in. My computer would search for windows updates, but it would never find the ones required, and the USB wouldn't install. When I unplug the USB and plug it back in again, the computer doesn't even recognize it, and nothing happens. Currently, my computer is not updated, so that's one thing I won't try. I've installed windows 7 updates numerous times in the past, and every time I did, my computer would have problems starting up (i.e. my desktop would be a black screen when it starts and I can't do anything, or the place where I enter my password to log in doesn't load at all).
So after installing win 7 ultimate x64, 5.1 surround stopped working and now i can only use my 2 front speakers + sub. In test all speakers don't work aswell.
I'm unable to play games requiring DirectX 11, even though I've downloaded it perhaps half a dozen times. Having stumped myself I decided I may as well ask here. The only feedback I've received from things not working is Civilization V says "Requires Service Pack 2 or greater" As far as I know DirectX doesn't update in the Service pack format, and that Windows 7 SP2 doesn't exist yet, and shouldn't be needed for a game of early 2010 as-is. I have an ASUS U56E, with the on-board i5 graphics(I thought it might be that, but my brother's i3 runs said DirectX fine, so maybe mine is damaged) and I, quite frankly, do not want to run it back into Best Buy and hope that it's covered by warranty.
i have already replaced drivers. tried some stuff in the registry and have no access to my dvd/rw drive i have windows 7 internet explorer 8.0 and dell studio 1458. already ran chkdsk
My system sound doesn't work anymore I have windows 7 and i was talking on Skype that my call failed and then no more sound.... I check sound part in the control panel but it said no sound devices is installed. what should I do?
Windows 7 (new computer) I'm trying to transfer folders from Outlook Express to Thunderbird. Found out that if I first transfer them to Windows Live Mail then to Thunderbird it would be easier. I saved the Outlook Express Folder from my old computer, which is long gone, to a travel drive. Now I'm trying to import them to WLM, but it won't do it. I found out I need to uncheck "read" under properties. I've tried and tried that, but every time it reverts right back to having it checked.
I have an newer HP Netbook running Windows 7. I recently installed Open Office 3.3 on the machine, and it works fine, except for some key sequences. For example, in the OO Writer, the key sequence Ctrl-Home should move the cursor to the top of the doc. This works fine on my older HP XP Pro laptop, but my netbook ignores or doesn't understand it. I have removed OO and reinstalled it, but the problem still occurs. So, I guess I need to figure out if this is a Windows or Open Office issue.
I had to buy laptop because my desktop with winxp died. Now how do I get the scanner to work with win7? I need to scan medical records. The scanner is a Canon Lide 55.

A problem arised with Windows Installer-package. A DLL-file that is needed to finish this installation couldn't be run. Contact supportstaff or your supplier of this package. That is what my computer says when I am trying to install Java. Why do I have to install a DLL-file? I haven't had to done that before when installing Java.Other programs has also told me to download a special DLL-file, but Java doesn't tell me which one, so I can't download it
