Have an older tv; no hdmi. just component inputs.Have my pc hooked up to a very good router so I can use my iPad via wifi.Is there any practical and inexpensive way I can view my home Photos and Videos that are now on my pc on my TV ?

I have had a problem with my Gateway NV73 laptop where I would get a BSOD whenever I was viewing video on the internet, viewing pictures in my photo editing program and now after about 5 minutes of just using the internet. The BSOD would come up in a square in the center of the screen and dissappear within seconds. Then the system would still show the power light as on but a blank screen and unresponsive. I would press and hold power button until shutdown and try to restart but only the fan sound was working but nothing else. And after about 30 to 40 minutes later it would boot up just fine, but would then crash after minutes of using it. I tried to get the info needed from the dump files but I literally had to do the whole process stated above many times and I saved the minidump files to my network drive so I could post this on my desktop computer.

I attached a text file with the contents of one of the minidump files.
When viewing the properties of certain video files, such as .ts, I am not able to see the details of the video file such as audio and video bitrate. Other files such as .avi show fine.I don't know if it's related but I am also not able to view the file extensions on these same files though I can see the extensions on most others. Folder options show I am set to view hidden folders and to show file extensions. It doesn't appear to be a virus problem as I have checked with a number of virus programs and verified they found none.

It can either take a directory full of photos and videos and play them in a slideshow type loop, or can combine photos and video in a single file, movie, .exe, etc for playback on a computer connected to a TV for a trade show. I'd also prefer free, if possible.
We have a week long trade show coming up, and would like to put new photos and videos in a directory each night, and have the software start to play all of the content, like a slideshow, in a continuous loop. Then, each night, we could stop the software, update the content, then restart it...or replace the single movie file or exe with an updated one.
I have just bought a new laptop with Windows 7. I have thoasands od photos and many home movies stored on USB sticks. Problem is when I plug it in there is no option to select which files I would like to copy. I have looked in the settings and can not find the option, it just copies all which I don't want that.
It also saves them by date and not in the named files I have them in on the key.The same with my camera, I use photos for Ebay and on XP would select the ones I wanted, saved to a file and then could easily adjust them. Now it just wants to copy them all. Also can you suggest a user friendly program for adjusting my photos.
I have a problem getting Media Center to display my Photos showing the individual photos contents of each folder.I am running Windows 7 HP 64 bit with all updates. My MEDIA (movies, music & photos) are on a separate hdd (M). Each of the media formats has it's own folder on the M drive, Movies, Music & Photos. I have no problem with the movies or the music. However, when I choose "pictures" in Windows Media Center only the individual photos folders are shown....no photos are shown in these folders. I see the individual folders but no contents. I have set up "Libraries" on the C: drive; Music, Video & Photos. When I click on photos in the "Libraries" all the photos folders are show each with it's own photos. I have "Shared" these libraries as well as each folder on the Media drive M. The format of the individual photos is jpg. I have run SFC/Scannow.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI've been using my parents computer for the last few months and decided to make my own user/log-in the other day. After doing so, I cut/pasted my photos folder into my new user directory (or whatever, I'm not very techie..). I have thousands of photos, my BF is a photographer, and I can view most of them. However, in one particular folder 90% of them aren't viewable! Says I don't have permission... When I log back into parents windows, I can see the photos in my directory (as they are no longer located in theirs) but there are little gold padlocks on the ones I cannot see on my log-in. I've tried changing permissions, ownership, you name it.. I've looked for help on line and tried everything. The only thing that seems to work is if I right click on each individual photo and change things that way.

I have made sure via Folder Options that I can see all files, I have searched high and low on the net, and found one that was the same problem but no one had answered it. I am using a computer that has 64 bit home premium Windows 7, would it have anything to do with a 64 bit system? View 6 Replies View RelatedOkay, I am trying to keep an open mind to the point that I invested my money into Win 7 Ult. 64 bit. While I find that it has some interesting addons, like Vista I find that is appears to be warmed over XP with the same features, just renamed and in different places so as to seem new. Now, that being said the deal breakers is really whether or not I can access and view files that I wish to. It seems no matter how I set up my admin access I can not view files such as, Temporary Internet files, cookies and many others unless I go through a 3rd party program such as Norton Utilities 10.5. In XP I could find and view them without problems. In Win 7, not only can I not view them but the difficulty in even finding that they exist makes me wonder what other files hold information that I wish to know about but windows is hiding from me.So, 2 questions. Can anyone give me an easy fix that will allow all files to be exposed to me AND viewable to me via Windows Explorer and 2, While Win 7 some nice little add ons can anyone explain what makes it fundamentally better than XP so that I would want to stay with it rather than going back to XP?

View 6 Replies View RelatedMy XP machine HD started to fail and after numerous tries to fix it, I purchased a new Windows 7 machine. I took the internal HD out of the Xp machine and put it in a docking station to USB and it shows up as Drive K on the windows 7 machine. I wanted to drag and drop some files from it, but can't find most of them! What is odd, is most files aren't showing - no music files, no doc files - the drive seems to be working/reading ok. I also noticed there are no individual user accounts. I've turned on "show all hidden files" and I"ve given ownership of the whole K drive and folders to everyone and my username, but no files show. The drive shows it is almost full, so SOMETHING is on there.

Since about 3 days ago whenever I double click one of these links the page opens in InPrivate viewing. If I close the page and retry, the page opens normally without InPrivate.I get the same problem when opening links from emails but closing the webpage and retrying results in me still getting InPrivate viewing. 2 ACER X223W monitors Having an issue where I will get a BSOD while watching videos. Have tried onboard video and 2 different vid cards and it happens every time. The onboard video was designed to support dual monitors as well as the video cards.

I work on a file in Word, I saved it. Then I want to email it to someone or upload to a website. When I open Explorer it just gives me an option called Recent Places which is a list of folders I have recently accessed. Then I have to remember (Word doesn't make that easy as it doesnt say at the top of every file the folder it is in like Word perfect wonderfully does) which folder I saved the file in. Is there anyway that I can set up Explorer so that a list of recently saved files, not just folders they are in? That would make things wonderfully easier and I wont have to go back and forth through a bunch of folders to find my file to email or upload.

The videos play fine once I clear the message box by pressing OK. The problem does not occur on my desktop and I notice no difference in the two setups. Nor does it occur under Firefox on either machine.
Whenever I open a folder with DVD Video files (.VOB files, etc.), an error pops up saying wmm2clip.dll could not be found (in the DVD Maker folder). This happens as soon as I open the folder, so I don't know what's happening... perhaps it's trying to create a thumbnail of the video for display in the folder? Does anyone have any ideas? I have not uninstalled Windows DVD Maker (although I've never used it), and I was able to run Windows DVD Maker without any problems.
