This is rather strange but in my windows ultimate video editing machine every time I go to use my editing software and go to open or inpost a file the window opens for a second then quickly disappears. Could there be some sort of exe issue? I am running Norton's NIS2012 now but had just Karperskys anti virus lapse on me.
View 9 RepliesEverytime I tried to open [URL](my IP camera video stream file); realPlayer Basic v14 kept opening an upgrade to realPlayer Plus window. When I click on "No thanks" another window for free trial opened. This was an endless loop. The IP camera video stream is H264 format and streams just fine on my other Windows 7 PC. Well, to make a long story short; the Win 7 Pro machine did not have QuickTime player installed which provided the H264 codec needed. I installed QuickTime and the IP camera now streams via realPlayer 14. I suspect you could install any H264 codec and accomplish the same thing and avoid the Plus upgrade.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am running into an issue where I can open a window/program with my mouse however once the window is open I cannot click inside of it. The window becomes inactive. I also have noticed I cannot right click on my desktop to bring up the properties. I can right click on the window in the task bar to close it but not in the window. Since this is happening I am limited to command prompt. I ran sfc /scannow with no errors. I tried with 3 different mice. I booted the computer into safe mode with command prompt and brought up the device manager to show devices not in use, and when the device manager window opened I could click inside it! since I could use the window I uninstalled all mouse drivers, and reinstalled my microsoft wireless usb mouse driver.. while in this safe mode I changed my mouse properties to system default as I read somewhere that can reset things. Next I booted the computer in safe mode (without command prompt) and still the same thing. I was trying to do a restore point as well however my Kaspersky antivirus 2012 is preventing that as i cannot find a way to kill the program through command prompt.

It still takes all keystrokes in the background, the subject window is still active because any keyboarding is reflected when the window reappears a few seconds (5-10) later. tried system restore, tried Cmd prompt thing... what may have happened is that I recently was uninstalling things... umm made sure this was a software thing ... defaulted my laptop's touchpad used other mouses and still same result.
every time i turn on my laptop, a startup repair window pops up and then when it's done solving the problems it shuts down. when i try opening it again the startup window appears.

In Windows 7, this does not happen - the focus remains in the left panel (i.e. Favourites, Libraries, Homegroup etc).

I've been told that this is either a software issue, or a hardware issue. No matter what program I'm working in, or whatever key is being touched, or touchpad is being touched, the window suddenly disappears, and I'm thrown, usually, back to the desktop. At which point I need to go to the taskbar, click on the minimized program, and it will bring me back to the page I was working on. While I was typing this, this window disappeared, and what showed were the 3 other windows that were open. I have done a malware scan, etc. etc. and nothing shows up.
sometimes while in an active program or internet window the window will disappear suddenly and my desktop will appear. When this happens a slight movement of my mouse will return the window I was in.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI installed Windows 7 on new computer. Some programs start up minimized most of the time - but not always. At least Mozilla Thunderbird and Adobe Premiere Pro CS5 keep doing that to name a few. The shortcut properties have "Run" as "Normal window" for both programs. I think I've also tried closing them with Ctrl pressed as suggested somewhere.
As for other similar problems, I get occasional problems with opening windows from the taskbar groups. The window shows up nicely when hovering over the thumbnail picture of the taskbar group, but when I select it, it just flashes on the top and then disappears / goes back behind other windows. Alt-tabbing seems to work flawlessly, but it'd be nice to be able to use the taskbar too.
I've noticed later that Alt-Tabbing doesn't work always either. They suggested me to try and pin software to taskbar at bleeping computer. Both Thunderbird and Premiere have started normally when launched with the pinned icon instead of the desktop shortcuts. That's not the real solution though and the problem remains at least with Windows Media Player. It goes often minimized when launched by double clicking a video file on explorer.
I did a search on your site and found Toasty's post (Programs start Minimized, will *NOT* maximize.). Also it said in some post that you should press Alt when closing. I'll try that next time the problem occurs, but I doubt it's the solution as the programs sometimes open normally and sometimes don't. Either way there's also the problem with the taskbar...

View 18 Replies View RelatedI have been experiencing a sporadic problem with video playback for several months now,If I watch enough (locally saved) videos consecutively without restarting my computer, at some seemingly random point, the media player will stop displaying the visual component when I open new ones. Once this happens, the problem will persist until I restart the computer. Each time I try to open a new video file, the player will briefly expand to the proper display size as if the video portion is going to come up as it should, and then the player will just revert to the small size it would as if it were just playing an audio file. And the audio continues to work properly, but I won't be able to get the visual component to work until the computer is restarted. Interestingly, I can continue to watch videos embedded in websites without any problems, just not anything saved to my hard drive(s).
Generally, I use VLC Media Player to play music and watch videos. But once the videos stop displaying properly, I get the same results regardless of which media player I try to open videos with.Other than that, my desktop runs perfectly. I generally have lots of applications opened up simultaneously, so I leave it on pretty much all the time (except when I have to restart it to fix this video problem). Although I haven't noticed any real pattern to when videos files stop opening properly, I would say I can usually open an average of about 20 videos before the problem occurs. It seems like I'm able to extend that number if I pause videos before they finish or if I open new ones while another one is still playing. But if I play audio files or let the videos play out to the end (when the video display minimizes), it seems more likely that the next video I open will cause the problem to reoccur.
Yea basicly all the programs on my computer now opens with notepad. This happened because i opened a program with notepad and now my computer thinks that every program is supposed to be opened with notepad >.

On one file, about 80% through, a message box came up saying there was a problem with the transfer. Two options: "Try Again" and "Cancel". Hit "Try Again", the progress bar finishes, and the file disappears from both computers. Search of entire hard drives finds nothing. What happened and why? Recovery software will probably not help me because both disks have been written to since the error.

View 3 Replies View RelatedThere is only one of my Excel 2003 files that almost disappears when I copy it over into my Windows 7 laptop and try to read it with either explorer or search for it, although it asks me to replace it everytime. It appears as if it doesn't exist. However when I open Excel 2010 and list only the .xls files, it finds it and I can read it. I have several other Excel 2003 files that are fine and since I usually open files by clicking on them in explorer, this one is particularly annoying, since I can't find it to click on it to open it. When I do open it in Excel 2010 it works normally and fine.

I just purchased a new Radeon 7970 video card and installed it. Downloaded the Catalyst Software and drivers for the 7900 series. Also redownloaded DirectX just incase. However when I move a window (i.e. browser window) around the screen there is a white lag trail left behind that I've never had before. I have a custom system and switched from a GTX 560Ti card (I deleted all Nvidia related items too).
