I have a 32" screen and i am sitting more to the right side of the screen. I am getting sick of turning all the time the screen to see on the left side so i want to set all windows to open on the right side of the screen and not to the left(standard). I am running windows 7.

I am running into an issue where I can open a window/program with my mouse however once the window is open I cannot click inside of it. The window becomes inactive. I also have noticed I cannot right click on my desktop to bring up the properties. I can right click on the window in the task bar to close it but not in the window. Since this is happening I am limited to command prompt. I ran sfc /scannow with no errors. I tried with 3 different mice. I booted the computer into safe mode with command prompt and brought up the device manager to show devices not in use, and when the device manager window opened I could click inside it! since I could use the window I uninstalled all mouse drivers, and reinstalled my microsoft wireless usb mouse driver.. while in this safe mode I changed my mouse properties to system default as I read somewhere that can reset things. Next I booted the computer in safe mode (without command prompt) and still the same thing. I was trying to do a restore point as well however my Kaspersky antivirus 2012 is preventing that as i cannot find a way to kill the program through command prompt.

tried system restore, tried Cmd prompt thing... what may have happened is that I recently was uninstalling things... umm made sure this was a software thing ... defaulted my laptop's touchpad used other mouses and still same result.
every time i turn on my laptop, a startup repair window pops up and then when it's done solving the problems it shuts down. when i try opening it again the startup window appears.

In Windows 7, this does not happen - the focus remains in the left panel (i.e. Favourites, Libraries, Homegroup etc).

This is rather strange but in my windows ultimate video editing machine every time I go to use my editing software and go to open or inpost a file the window opens for a second then quickly disappears. Could there be some sort of exe issue? I am running Norton's NIS2012 now but had just Karperskys anti virus lapse on me.
View 9 Replies View RelatedEverytime I tried to open [URL](my IP camera video stream file); realPlayer Basic v14 kept opening an upgrade to realPlayer Plus window. When I click on "No thanks" another window for free trial opened. This was an endless loop. The IP camera video stream is H264 format and streams just fine on my other Windows 7 PC. Well, to make a long story short; the Win 7 Pro machine did not have QuickTime player installed which provided the H264 codec needed. I installed QuickTime and the IP camera now streams via realPlayer 14. I suspect you could install any H264 codec and accomplish the same thing and avoid the Plus upgrade.

I installed Lotus smartsuite 9.8.2 and prepared a worksheet. When I go to the c drive and try to open the worksheet it only opens in wordpad( which produces garbage). View 12 Replies View RelatedI work in a school environment and have come across an intermittent, non-user specific and non-machine specific issue. Sometimes when people log on and start typing it will open up a piece of software, and always the same one and the same 'A' key on the keyboard. It is not a huge problem, you can minimise the program and it wont keep opening up, or you can log off and back on again to cure the problem. I am just curious if anyone has seen this before, or maybe has an idea how we can prevent this. I have search many forums for similar problems people have experienced.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI somehow choice my power2go program as the default program for all my programs. All my icons turned to power2go icon, I have done this before and in the past I would delete the program causing this (power2go) and the problem would be solved. I did this and nothing happened, the program was deleted but all my icons are now blank. When I go to open any other program I get the default box asking me to choose which program to use to open it. I mean for everything word, internet explorer, I mean everything. For example when I tried to open windows media player I get a box that says " The selected file has an extension (ink.) that is not recongnized by windows media player, but the player may still be able to play it. Because the extension is unknown by the player, you should be sure that the file comes from a trustworthy sourse. When I select yes I get windows media player cannot play the file the player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file. When I try word I get the default box and when I select word it opens still how do I get the defaults restored. Some programs don't do anything they just time out. I did a system restore and nothing how do I restore my defaults for all my programs. Is there a way to make sure this never ever happens again. The box that say always use this program to open this type of file is not checked which it usually is I am afraid to check it for each individual program fearing I might make things worse. Is there anything I can do?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a different problem with COM Surrogate. I noticed something wasn't right when I got random freeze-ups playing audiosurf which is sensitive to CPU usage. I opened task manager and saw about every 15 seconds, there is a spike in the CPU usage. I checked the processes and saw dllhost.exe (COM Surrogate) is opening up and closing in just a few seconds, and repeats this about every 15 seconds which is eating my CPU. I do NOT get any error messages anywhere. I can view photos just fine. HOWEVER, I do see that any new photos' or videos' thumbnails are not updating. Any videos and photos I had before this problem have thumbnails, but not any new ones I create. I am running Windows 7 Professional 64-bit.

I tried to upload malwarebytes from both a flash drive and then a cd, but her laptop corrupted those too. Itunes is the only .exe file that will open. I do not have the "open with" option on .exe files. Please!!!! I know how to edit registry a little (going in at c prompt), but I don't know what I'm looking for. Again, I will have to enter everything manually--- I cannot download from internet or upload from external source?

After downloading some media software she has changed a setting so that media center opens for every program.
I have tried the steps of turning windows features on and off but when i click the link media center opens again!
When I initially open IE9 instead of opening the home page, opens Microsoft Support Fix it, however, once open clicking the home button brings me back to the correct home page.

When I seach on Yahoo, say I open up microsoft window and want to click on Support and Help, a new tab opens with nothing in it. It will not load the link I am asking for in a new tab.
I have tried to put back the steps of trouble shooting the error 2203 that I had to change in order to install Office 10 Student version however the links still will not open in a new tab.
