User Group Client Failed Logon

Dec 20, 2010

I just built myself a new computer, and it turned out that the dual ram channel on the motherboard was faulty. I ordered a new motherboard and RMA'd the faulty board. When I installed the new motherboard, I received an error when trying to login to my old account: User group client failed the logon. Access denied.I am then returned to the login screen. Rebooting in safe mode didn't caused the system to hang a few times, but eventually brought me to the login screen, and I was able to get to the desktop and create a new user profile, and deleted the password from my old profile. Rebooted again and now I have access to the new admin account, but still get the error when trying to access my old profile. I did some research and people suggested changing the registry value GUID to GUID1 in the Windows NT/Profile List for the bad profile, but there is no "GUID" value under that profile.Windows restore doesn't find any restore points which is strange, because I made several in the week before I installed the replacement board as I messed around with settings and configured the machine. Now, I have full access to my machine through the new profile and everything is working perfectly, but I'd really like to be able to get my old login working again. There's a lot of files scattered around, games with saves tied to that profile, the odd install that I let install without checking "all users" on, etc. I -could- potentially migrate all that *** onto the new profile, but it would take time, time that I'd rather spend either with my son, or being conquered by the Aztecs in Civ 5.

The Group Policy Client Service Failed The Logon?

Oct 3, 2011

I started to install a home network, but was interrupted. Now Windows 7 will not complete its startup except to say "access is denied." I did not start a recovery point before, hoping to get all the updates, etc. on before needing recovery. Is there any way to fix the problem without reloading everything?

Service Failed Logon - User Cannot Be Loaded

Jun 29, 2012

Just finished uninstalling certain things I did not need any longer and when I was done I started to notice that my desktop items disappeared when I refreshed the desktop and My Computer complained about the location of login details. (I cannot remember the exact error) now when I restarted my computer I receive the error at the welcome screen saying "The User Service service failed the logon. User cannot be loaded". I've researched this error and many things talk about starting in safe mode which I have managed to do but nothing else seems to be clear from there.

The User Profile Service Failed The Logon On Domain

Dec 14, 2011

I have the same issue the other user mentions. I can log on as a domain admin, but not as a domain user. There are only 4 profiles in the registry, with no .bak extensions:

1 is the default user
2 is the localservice account
3 is the networkservice account
4 is the local "Administrator" account

I was assuming the problem was with the default user, so I followed the article previously mentioned, and changed the RefCount from "1" to "0", and the State was already set to "0". I am still unable to log in with any domain account except for domain administrators.

"The User Profile Service Failed The Logon" On A Fresh, Newly Created Account?

Dec 7, 2011

I'm working on a computer that appears to have gone through the "Windows Recover" virus/malware. The user appeared to do a good job of removing the virus and used System Restore to dial the system back about a week (which unfortunately is the furthest back the restore points go for some reason). Everything seemed to work except for the main users account, which had it's profile locations changed to something like c:usersTEMP.username-PC.000. It was pointing to this directory instead of the original directory. I then opened up regedit and found the entries atHKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionExplorerShell Folders all pointing to the wrong folder, so I manually edited every entry to point to the correct folder and restarted.

This ended up working against me. When I logged into the account none of the shell folder shortcuts in the start menu would do anything when you clicked on them. The menu would stay up and it was as if I was clicking on nothing at all; no response.Instead of reversing the edits I had just made manually I decided to try using System Restore to revert the system back to the earliest date, which the owner of the PC said they had done themselves before I got there. I figured the worst that could happen would be it would be just as it was when I first looked at it.After performing system restore I can only log into the Administrator account.Every other account on the system produced the error message "The User Profile Service service failed the logon. The user profile cannot be loaded."

User Profile Service-service Failed Logon-user Profile Cannot Be Loaded

Nov 17, 2012

when i try to create a new user profile ~ with or without a password, it shows up on the main login page, but when i click on it to open, the message "UserProfileService_service failed the logon_user profile cannot be loaded". i have searched microsoft support with little solutions listed. and the ones that are listed seem too technical for me to be trying on my own. there are many posts there with this problem, but they all seem to be several years old.

i am using windows 7. i have never been able to create any accounts other than my administrator account & the one account i use for all my general computer use. i have been using norton 360 with no problems. i have resorted to just using any "log in/log out' links on all the sites my husband wants to use.i am really not all that confident doing anything super technical to fix this, since i don't have a real understanding of different extensions or types of files. i am afraid i could really mess everything up really bad. but, it would just be SO MUCH EASIER & FASTER if i had my account & my husband had his own account.

User Accounts Created But Not Able To Logon - No User Profile

Feb 17, 2012

I am a lab technician for Microsoft classes at a community college. One of our students somehow messed up his hard drive. The computer is running Windows 7 Enterprise SP1 64-bit. The system has two administrator accounts and one standard user account. I am still able to logon with those accounts and there are SID keys for each of these users in the registry.

Now when we create a new user, the account is created without any problems. The user shows up on the logon page and after running the net user command, it shows up there as well. When I try to logon with the new user, I get a message: The User Profile Service failed the logon. User profile cannot be loaded.

None of the new user accounts show up in the registry. The other anomaly that I see is that the Default User folder is missing in each of the Users subdirectory for the three accounts where I have no problems.

I have read the Microsoft Knowledge Base Article 947215 and none of the methods apply to my problem. I also checked Local Group Policies and the Do not logon users with temporary profiles setting is not configured.

Error 1608 - Dependency Service Or Group Failed To Start?

Jan 12, 2013

I finally got a new laptop after almost a year of struggling with my old one. I've had experience with using homegroup in the past and was thinking maybe I could access some of my files on my old laptop through that so I don't have to go through the trouble of manually transferring everything via flash drive and what not. I seem to be running into a problem though, my old laptop seems to be in its own homegroup I guess. Whenever I try to leave it, it says "windows cannot remove the computer from the homegroup".

I researched the problem, and used the troubleshooter which said that the homegroup provider service wasn't started and it couldn't be fixed automatically. I tried restarting starting the service but got that error 1608 thing. To bypass this I've tried joining whichever group my old laptop is in, but it can't seem to be found even though the two are both on the same wifi/network. If it matters, the new laptop is windows 8 and the one I'm having trouble with is windows 7.

Dependency Service Or Group Failed To Start - Command Prompt

Aug 15, 2012

I'm having a pretty big problem on my laptop- I can't connect to the internet and when I try to connect in the network and sharing centre it simply says 'The dependency service or group failed to start' and I am unable to connect to the internet (Using wi-fi). There's a lot more to it than that though. Simply put, here is a list of the problems I am facing:

1. Can't connect to the Internet
2. Cannot change theme, stuck in basic (Themes are grey and do not respond when I click on them in the control panel)
3. Overall brightness of laptop screen has decreased.
4. When opening my anti-virus software (avast) it says that the software is off and I should click the fix now button to turn it on. However, when I click on it nothing happens.

Please note that this problem occurred when I was messing around with command prompt ( I booted windows 7, pressed F8 and tried to check weather I could launch a USB program through safe mode- command prompt). I figured out I had no idea what the commands were and tried using one of the few commands I knew- ms config. I may have changed settings there and this could be how it happened, I'm not really sure. I'm not very experienced with command prompt but have full knowledge of control panel options, computer, etc.

Interactive Logon Failed On 64bit Windows 7

Jun 18, 2011

I recently bought a new asus laptop and after some issues with it i decided to format and clean install the OS. It came with windows 7 home premium 64-bit. I went out and bought windows 7 Pro 64bit and attempted an install. The installation went through smoothly til the end where I received the message "interactive logon has failed, please consult the event log ..." after this message it rebooted and attempted a start-up only to be met with a strange gray screen and then it reboots again.

Nothing else works like safe mode, or advanced boot options. Ive tried installing several times with with the same result. Now whats weird is that when I install a 32-bit version of this there's no problems, except that its designed for a 64 and runs slowly. So why would I be able to install a 32bit version of windows and not a 64 bit? Even though all the hardware is for a 64??

Interactive Logon Process Initialization Has Failed

Mar 22, 2010

I have a PC that dual boots both XP and 7. Yesterday, I restarted my computer to go from 7 to XP to play a game, all fine and dandy so far. When I came back onto windows 7, the Windows intro logo loads, disappears as usual, but instead of loading by desktop, I get :

"Interactive logon process initialization has failed. Please consult the event log for more details."

So I decided to go check my event log. I booted on XP, went to G:WindowsSystem32winevtLogs, copied the file : Application.evtx to my USB key, and opened it up on another Win 7 system to check it out. I thought I could find the error, but I can't get any logs out of the event log. The last entry being a month ago for some reason. I want to avoid formatting my Win 7 partition at all costs. Also :

- Safe mode doesn't work
- System restore doesn't work
- System repair doesn't work.

I've tried almost everything so far. I do in fact have complete access to my G: partition, which is my Windows 7 partition.
