View 5 RepliesI just installed Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bits, at home desktop, upgraded all my drivers (including bios, monitor drivers...)...
Then I bought, Dragon Age in Steam, and started playing, after 5 minutes the game became the most laggy thing in the world. Ok, I thought it was something with dragon age. Installed GTA IV, installed the patch, same thing, after about 5 -10 minutes the game starts to lag.
After searching a lot of foruns in the net, i realized that everybody seems to have problems with gaming in Windows 7, or the game crashes, or graphics problems.
I tried compatibility mode - same
Tried tweaking nvidia options - same
Tried tweaking games options - same
Installed more three games to test, all have the same problem.
My specs:
Core2Quad 9450
6mb Ram
GeForce GTX 250
Would a video card upgrade help my games play better, or would I need a faster processor (running 2.20)?

View 1 Replies View RelatedThe problem occurs while playing Starcraft2. The system will freezes after maybe 10 min of play. Screens go black and sound is frozen, and I have to reset manually. Sometimes though, I can play for hours with no freezeThe Windows install is only a few weeks old and I led Windows install every driver for itself, and then updated my graphics driver to the newest from nVidia.com, installed the drivers for the Razer keyboard and mouse and then went on to install my usual stuff from Ninite.I am aware that it might be a problem with heat (on the graphics card), however it should not be, since the computer is placed in a closet with a very large fan installed in it, so that fresh air is constantly flowing. Also no weird artifacts are displayed before the crash, which is usually the case with heat problems on the graphics card, in my experience.I used the verifier.exe procedure to force a BSOD (don't know if this isctual freeze is not a BSOD). The BSOD happened before I could get to desktop. The dump analysis and health repport is atttached. My system specs are in my profile

Both programs try to update the AACS key every time I try to play a disc.Neither one is successful, I guess because the movie never will play.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have had two separate computers with two separate o/s systems using Windows 7 ultimate, one installed directly from discs, one upgraded from Windows Home Premium. The restore has never worked on either of them. Another friend who has the same system has the same problem. It does work (or at least, it worked one time) in Windows Home Premium. Does system restore not play well with Windows 7 Ultimate 32x & 64x? Last computer was Dell Dimensions 4600 with 2GB RAM, 2 TB harddrive Windows 7 Ultimate 32x . The 2nd is a Dell Inspiron 2320 all in one with 8 GB RAM & 2 TB harddrive WIndows 7 Ultimate 64x . Maybe it is just Dell doesn't play well with Windows 7 Ultimate 64x? It does creat restore points manually and also automatically. Each time you attempt restore it simply never completes and the system message is always the same, Unfornately I forget what it was ended in 009. Dell was actually on line with me and trying their best and saw the system message but still couldn't figure out why it wouldnt work. We removed ALL the anti virus, we turned off firewalls, we used safe mode, none of them worked.

However, the sound is not played. The sounds applet in control panel has the "Print Complete" sound defined correctly and the Test button plays the sound. So I do not have an audio problem, and the .wav file is not blocked.I have looked for any options that could control the sound, but have not found any.

View 1 Replies View Relatedhow can I play a video in jet audio (or any other media program) on one monitor while I play a fullscreen game on the other. I can get it to work with streams off of website like own3d.tv and twitch.tv, and I can even run the streams in full screen. However when I try to run a movie through jet audio or even just play music through zune player, they freeze up. The audio will still come through, but either the picture is frozen in place or the zune player seems to get frozen.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI've just tried to upgrade my PC's memory from 8GB to 16GB and have hit a rather worrying problem in that the PC now refuses to boot. Initially, once I'd replaced the old memory modules with the new ones, I got three beeps on power-up, which I quickly established was the result of my not properly seating the modules. Once I'd made sure they were firmly inserted I tried again, and this time all I get is the computer powering up - so all the lights come on and the fans kick into life - but then it powers down again without even attempting to boot: I don't even get to the BIOS. After a few tries I decided that it might be an issue with one or more of the new modules, so I swapped them back to the original 8GB kit and I still get the same problem. My PC is essentially DOA. Whilst I was inserting/re-inserting modules I did try to avoid and issues with static discharge. I wonder if perhaps I've disturbed a connector somewhere, although I couldn't see any signs of this when I re-opened the case to check.
The new modules are a 16GB Corsair Vengence DDR3 dual-channel 4-module kit (4x4GB). They were replacing a 4 module 8GB DDR3 dual-channel kit (4x2GB), so in both cases all four slots were in use. Motherboard is an Intel DP55WG, which is listed by Corsair as being compatable (16GB is the max for this motherboard). I've been running this system for two years prior to my upgrade attempt this evening, and it's been rock solid with no issues.
Maybe I should reset the CMOS for instance? Note that I'm not a hardware guy, and messing around inside the case isn't something I normally even consider trying... But I thought that this would be a very simple, trouble-free upgrade!
In system upgrade won't run, it report it can not install 64 bit on 32bit and vice versa.I know 100% it is a Windows 7 pro x64 version and computer properties also claims this. The history is that a week ago I notice most updates has fails since 17 june 2011,But now I get notificed! I tryed to download these MS update fixes, I tried to clean update history etc. But update keeps failing. I read Binck turial 3413 about using in system upgrade to repair, I have the original install DVD. But the upgrade reports I cannot install 64 bit on 32 bit and vice versa, actually both message in the x64 try.I tryed disable all non MS services using msconfig including my NOD32 antivirus doing the in system upgrade. I have loads of programs it will take many hours to reinstall and configur all programs to put data on a separate partion as I require.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI just got my computer up and running today. My next step is to install win 7 on it. So i got win 7 pro 64 bit through digital river with a sweet student discount and also a back up disc that came in the mail. I have noticed that it says upgrade on it though. I have been hearing and being told so many different things that i can not tell what is true.
Please only post an answer if you are certain it is correct
Thank you and with that being said here are my questions
Questions:
Could someone please explain to me what i am exactly supposed to do with the backup disc?
Can i use this on a new computer, ie one without any os on it already?
A friend referred me to this site. It sounds very confusing and i am not very tech savvy when it comes to things like this. Will i need to install it onto a different computer in order to do this boot-able upgrade? does the back up disc come into play? Could someone please explain the instructions in a very simplistic way.

Any other ideas or solutions to getting win7 upgrade version onto a new system build?
I had windows vista 32 bit earlier. Then I got windows 7 professional upgrade in trial period. I didn't notice how it happened. Of course it must be my mistake. Now when i boot from windows 7 it shows 64 bit and in vista it shows 32 bit. The system asks before booting which one to choose. It's today only that I have installed but I am not facing any problem as such except that i need a product key within 30 days. Should i leave as it is or uninstall vista somehow. Would i be able to reboot my system using the 32 bit vista CD?

After assembling the new computer, I ran it without the system disk installed to make sure everything was kosher, and memory timings, etc. were correct. After verifying that, I shut it down and put the SSD into the new unit and booted it up. The system posts fine, but once the Win 7 startup image shows, the system restarts and brings me to the "start windows in safe mode/start windows normally" prompt.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI recently bought a dell latitude E6410 laptop running windows 7 ultimate. A few days ago it started playing up, at first I thought I had a virus of some sort as my protection had run out, so I downloaded another protection plan and ran a test which came back clean. Then a message came up up from windows saying that I needed to install a "P2P driver" and do a upgrade. So I downloaded the driver and did the upgrade which seemed to work. The next day I started up and it went straight to the start up repair, which came back saying my system cant be repaired automatically. I can get as far as the system recovery options. I tried a "system restore" and that didn't work, and a "windows memory diagnostic" and still nothing. I haven't done a back up disc or have any other discs so I'm pretty much stuck in a loop now. I've been looking into the "system image recovery" but have no idea what that means or what to do.

Did not come with a windows disc or recovery disc from the factory, IE windows 7 home pro was pre-installed.
I created a system recover boot disc/CD. This machine has no CD/DVD drive, but I do have a USB CD/DVD drive.
If I format and write the drive, but leave the partitions will I be able to re-install this version of windows that came with the machine ??

View 1 Replies View RelatedI very recently graduated and as a congratulations, my brother-in-law gave me a brand new Nvidia 9800GTX for my computer. I was running Windows 7 Professional 64-bit when I installed it and I immediately saw a drastic increase in performance. However, when I turned my computer off for the night, I noticed that it would hang at the shut down screen and never actually turn off.Refusing to believe that the new card was at fault, and having next to nothing on my C partition after my most recent formatting, I decided to go ahead and reinstall Windows to hopefully fix the issue. This is where my other problems started in. Suddenly Windows Explorer was crashing whenever I tried to use my disk drive and my system would randomly lock up. After assuming my install went wrong, I tried reinstalling twice more and neither worked. Finally, I got fed up and reinstalled my 32-bit copy of Windows 7 Professional and it still didn't work. As of now I've removed the new card and put my old 9500GT back in to find that I'm not having a single problem with the 9500.
View 6 Replies View RelatedMy son has a Toshiba Satelite P205 that he just upgraded from Windows XP Home Premium to Windows 7 32-bit. After the upgrade completed the computer booted fine. The within 20 minutes he got the BSOD and the system rebooted. Now he can't get Windows to fully start. We've tried all of the options from F8 with no success. We have the Toshiba System Recovery Disk but it won't launch. (The Boot sequence has been changed to boot from CD/DVD and then the Hard Drive.)The Memory Diagnostic from the Windows 7 disk ran fine with no errors. I'm thinking I might need to re-format/wipe the drive to start fresh but don't know where to obtain a boot CD(no floppy drive on this laptop). Does anyone recommend a software that I can purchase to clear everything without destroying the CD/DVD accessibility so I can then use the System Recovery Disk to put it back to the original factory Settings?
