View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm currently trying to make my computer Wake on LAN with Deep Freeze. I've followed this guide to it: Windows 7 Issues: Wake-on-Lan (WOL) for Windows 7 Made Easy! The message is getting sent from the Deep Freeze console computer, but the laptop doesn't start up from the command sent. The laptop is a ASUS k53s with Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit. I've went over all the settings I've made, I can lock it, freeze it, restart it, shut it down etc. But I can't wake it with LAN command.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am experiencing difficulties when trying to uninstall/reinstall my adobe product At the beginning of the month, I had some issues with the activation which caused the program to lock me out. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the program thinking thatothing changed. Had to call adobe to deactivate my serial.Long story short, the adobe help center rectified the problem with my serialSupposedly anyway. I have no way to test it because my current installation of photoshop is corrupt due to this licensing mishap. The only way is to start fresh and install the program again. This is where the hitch is. As I previously mentioned, I was able to reinstall the program once without issue. Now, I can't even run the installer from the DVD. A window stating "Setup is initializing" appears, then quickly disappears. Nothing happens afterwards. Also, I am unable to remove the program from windows. The entry is there in "Programs and Features," however selecting the option to uninstall it does absolutely nothing. No window appears or anything.
The problem seems to only be with the adobe installer. I can remove my other applications and install new ones just fine. It's just for some reason Windows refuses to run the Adobe setup now. It doesn't make sense. The disc is not scratched at all and has never been stored outside its case. I'm at a complete loss what to do next. I can't remove it and I can't reinstall it.I am running Windows 7 64 bit. The rest of my PC specs can be found in my profile. CS3 has worked perfectly on the OS for over a year now. All these problems only appeared this month out of nowhere.
As i've mentioned in the title my Realtek Network connector is missing and Windows 7 cant locate it.This happened after my computer went into sleep mode for some odd reason. And whenever i try to re-install my driver it says:
"The RealTek Network Adapter/Controller was not found. If Deep Sleep Mode is enabled Please Plug the Cable".
So how can I get it back? So far I've tried:
-Removing my RAM for 10 mins and after that for another 1 hour
-Resetting CMOS from Motherboard
-Re-Installing Windows.
My Motherboard's model is : GIGABYTE GA-H61M-S2V-B3 with 1 x Realtek RTL8111E chip (10/100/1000 Mbit).
Just a quick note i know there is another post about this but i have a problem and i cannot manage to fix it with the solutions from the other one.So here's some info.Yesterday for some very odd reason instead of shutting down my comp went into "sleep" mode. And today my internet didnt manage to connect. After some time it turned out i got my Realtek network controller missing (along with network dirvers ofc).So i took my driver setup file and installed it.. however in the end i got the following message "The RealTek Network Adapter/Controller was not found. If Deep Sleep Mode is enabled Please Plug the Cable"So i turned on my old PC and looked for sloutions on-line.Here is what i tried so far-Removed my RAM (first time for around 10 mins ; second time for around 1 hour)-Reseted CMOS (from motherboard)-AND RE-INSTALLED WIN 7.NONE OF WHICH WORKED.

I installed Windows 7068 in my Asus G2s Notebook, and everything worked just fine for like 2 months. But, the 7100 version was released, and i wanted it, so i backed some important files up, and formatted my computer. The installation was fine, but, when i was restoring my files from the backup, there was a particular file that wouldn't copy.
It is Fallout 3.iso file. I tried copying it like, 10 times, and everytime i tried to copy, it would stop at 2.4gb +-. After it stopped, explorer wouldnt respond, and its process couldn't be finalized. So, the only solution was to shut down the computer. I tried many things, to see if i could solve the problem (without any sucess)
-Gave full permission to the Folder and Hard Drive
-Tried to copy the file inside the HD and copy it again to my hard drive, but even copying inside the HD, it would stop at 2.4gb.
-Tried many other things, with no sucess.
Until i tried it on my mom's XP Notebook. I copied it, and on 2.4 GB it would say : Cannot copy Fallout3.iso Path is too Deep
Tried everything, but none of it worked.
I just had to completely re-install Win 7 pro 64 bit and lost some of my settings. Two important ones were the quick launch option and the other was the "deep" administrator privileges. Can some one out there tell me how to regain those two options?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm wondering if anyone else has had the following issue with USB connected external drive and Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit:
When plugged in, the external drive is recognized by the OS, is accessible and in every aspect functions normally. After a period of non-use of the computer, e.g. 8 hours, the USB device gets knocked out. Logging back to Windows, and the 1st message will be "Unrecognized USB device", and the external drive is not visible anymore.
The only way to get the device back is to disconnect its power supply, and plug it back in.
I've done the following :
1) Changed the USB power settings of the OS. USB devices are not allowed to go to sleep
2) Changed the power setting from Seagate Manager to not allow the drive to go to sleep
3) Changed USB Legacy to Enabled on BIOS
I did a fresh Windows 7 64 bit installation and everything was going fine (besides the BSOD problems about the graphics card which I fixed by renaming nvlddmkm.sys which was the cause of the BSOD) until I tried installing the Ethernet drivers.
Specs:
Gigabyte GA-MA69G-S3H Motherboard
AMD Athlon 64 6000+ CPU
4GB 800 DDR2 Memory
585 Watt Power supply
XFX 8800 GTS GPU
2 Seagate Hard drives : 250 GB & 160GB
Windows doesn't even detect the adapter even though its onboard. I've tried installing the drivers from the original dvd (and in compatible and as administrator) with no luck. I also tried downloading the latest lan drivers from [URL] but it still didn't work. I got a deep sleep error or something. (Which I couldn't resolve cause there's nothing in network connections, not even the 1394 connection which is also turned on in the bios)
No it does not show in device manager under Network adapters. Actually there isn't even a network adapter subcategory unless I click show hidden devices(which has multiple devices then but no network controller). The only driver with a question mark is the graphics card driver which I will try to install after I get the Ethernet adapter working. Microsoft did say its 64 bit compatible [URL] so I don't know what to do. I did check the settings in the bios to see if everything with network was enabled and whatnot.. I also tried resetting everything in the bios to default settings with no luck.
Out of desperation tried adding the device manually through device manager (action>add Legacy hardware>manually>network adapters>have disk..) I tried this with the latest drivers I got from gigabytes website but it didn't even show a device, so I tried the original drivers from the mobo dvd which gave 3 devices.. I tried them all.. each time reinstalling the latest drivers and whatnot to no avail. I'm Thinking of trying to use the windows 64 bit repair disk seeing as it might be software related seeing as it doesn't even show the firewire adapter.
I set up four Dell Computers with Windows 7 Home Premium. Used my administrative account to install software (Microsoft Office Suite), Microsoft Security Essentials, Ccleaner, and Malawarebytes. All programs installed properly. As these computers are going to be used in a public place by junior and senior high school students, I thought it would be best to set up a standard user account for each of the four computers. I have it set up but when I log in as a standard use (non administrative) all the programs that were installed are not available. Tell me if I'm wrong. I think the programs would still be listed in program files when the standard user is open. Can I go to each of the programs and right click to open and then be prompted to key in my administrative password. I would think this should allow the program to be run in the standard user desktop.

View 1 Replies View RelatedRecently I've used Hyperdesk (Hyperdesk: The ultimate desktop themes for Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows XP, skins, icons, wallpapers, widgets, desktop themes for Disney, Pixar and Star Trek, themes for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation Portable and more!) but eventually disliked it and uninstalled again. Since then most of my standard Windows 7 icons are missing/not showing up.
I tried rebuilding the icon cache with tutorials posted on this site = no luck.
Also tried a restore point, still no luck. Have attached 2 screenshots for you
All else is running smoothly and I don't really want to reinstall all Windows just because of a few icons not showing up
I just found a very very strange issue that my Windows 7 Ult x64 installation has. Whenever I type in any of the built in programs (like CMD, explorer, the search bar in the start menu, notepad, etc.), the program freezes. But when I try to type in any other program, like Chrome, it works just fine. Does anybody know how to fix this? It's quite annoying, and I sorta need to use my computer...
Keyboard: Razer Lycosa I did check for driver updates already.
I installed a program under administration rights and I am trying to give "standard users" rights to the program without them having to put in the admin password to use the program. I did some googling and tried changing permissions under security to give the user permission.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am wondering if the install size of win 7 on a new build varies greatly based on what version you use? For instance (without any tweaking of modification) Is the install of Professional a lot larger than home premium and enterprise a lot larger than professional? Does anyone know the baseline install sizes for the different versions. I'm mainly wondering about Home Premium, Professional, Enterprise and Ultimate and the space requirement variations between each.

View 3 Replies View Relatedwhat is the typical number of processes that should be running in task manager on a typical standard version of Win 7 Home Premium, without any added programs? (Without IE being used)My Dad has a couple of year old HP Pavilion p6680t and it has about 62- 65 processes running before any browser is used. He also has Adobe Flash, Win Live Essentials, and MSE, along with a HP printer.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI basically had 3 accounts on my computer, one being "Administrator" (w Admin rights), one "test" (Standard User rights) and one more "User" that is the one I use most frequently (with Admin rights). When I last used it last Friday the User account was still present and all my programs were working fine.
However, when I came back to office today, I found that the User account was missing from the welcome screen, and only the "Administrator" and "test" account were there. Somehow, I could not login to the "Administrator" account. When I logged into the "test" account, all the program shortcuts were blank (Firefox, Adobe Reader Etc) and only IE and the default windows programs would work. I suspected that there might be a virus, but I couldn't install anything because I did not have the admin privileges.
My question is:
1. How do I get back into my admin account?
2. is there any way to install anti-virus programs (by going around the admin account) to solve this issue?
I'm basically stuck with a standard user account and I can't do anything with it. I tried using System Restore on the Standard account, but when I click "Open System Restore" nothing happens.
We have an application(Myapp.exe), which is runs under administrator account properly( as it edit/update/write DLL in registry). But due to to security resons we dont want to provide Admin password to all users, and we want to run application under Standard User ( member of Users group only).I did these setting in MyApp.exe.manifest<requestedExecutionLevel level="asInvoker" uiAccess="false" /> and linked in the file MyApp.rc as given below
