Realtek's Network Controller In Windows 7 Deep Sleep Mode?
Sep 12, 2011
Just a quick note i know there is another post about this but i have a problem and i cannot manage to fix it with the solutions from the other one.So here's some info.Yesterday for some very odd reason instead of shutting down my comp went into "sleep" mode. And today my internet didnt manage to connect. After some time it turned out i got my Realtek network controller missing (along with network dirvers ofc).So i took my driver setup file and installed it.. however in the end i got the following message "The RealTek Network Adapter/Controller was not found. If Deep Sleep Mode is enabled Please Plug the Cable"So i turned on my old PC and looked for sloutions on-line.Here is what i tried so far-Removed my RAM (first time for around 10 mins ; second time for around 1 hour)-Reseted CMOS (from motherboard)-AND RE-INSTALLED WIN 7.NONE OF WHICH WORKED.

As i've mentioned in the title my Realtek Network connector is missing and Windows 7 cant locate it.This happened after my computer went into sleep mode for some odd reason. And whenever i try to re-install my driver it says:
"The RealTek Network Adapter/Controller was not found. If Deep Sleep Mode is enabled Please Plug the Cable".
So how can I get it back? So far I've tried:
-Removing my RAM for 10 mins and after that for another 1 hour
-Resetting CMOS from Motherboard
-Re-Installing Windows.
My Motherboard's model is : GIGABYTE GA-H61M-S2V-B3 with 1 x Realtek RTL8111E chip (10/100/1000 Mbit).

I did a fresh Windows 7 64 bit installation and everything was going fine (besides the BSOD problems about the graphics card which I fixed by renaming nvlddmkm.sys which was the cause of the BSOD) until I tried installing the Ethernet drivers.
Specs:
Gigabyte GA-MA69G-S3H Motherboard
AMD Athlon 64 6000+ CPU
4GB 800 DDR2 Memory
585 Watt Power supply
XFX 8800 GTS GPU
2 Seagate Hard drives : 250 GB & 160GB
Windows doesn't even detect the adapter even though its onboard. I've tried installing the drivers from the original dvd (and in compatible and as administrator) with no luck. I also tried downloading the latest lan drivers from [URL] but it still didn't work. I got a deep sleep error or something. (Which I couldn't resolve cause there's nothing in network connections, not even the 1394 connection which is also turned on in the bios)
No it does not show in device manager under Network adapters. Actually there isn't even a network adapter subcategory unless I click show hidden devices(which has multiple devices then but no network controller). The only driver with a question mark is the graphics card driver which I will try to install after I get the Ethernet adapter working. Microsoft did say its 64 bit compatible [URL] so I don't know what to do. I did check the settings in the bios to see if everything with network was enabled and whatnot.. I also tried resetting everything in the bios to default settings with no luck.
Out of desperation tried adding the device manually through device manager (action>add Legacy hardware>manually>network adapters>have disk..) I tried this with the latest drivers I got from gigabytes website but it didn't even show a device, so I tried the original drivers from the mobo dvd which gave 3 devices.. I tried them all.. each time reinstalling the latest drivers and whatnot to no avail. I'm Thinking of trying to use the windows 64 bit repair disk seeing as it might be software related seeing as it doesn't even show the firewire adapter.

I'm wondering if anyone else has had the following issue with USB connected external drive and Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit:
When plugged in, the external drive is recognized by the OS, is accessible and in every aspect functions normally. After a period of non-use of the computer, e.g. 8 hours, the USB device gets knocked out. Logging back to Windows, and the 1st message will be "Unrecognized USB device", and the external drive is not visible anymore.
The only way to get the device back is to disconnect its power supply, and plug it back in.
I've done the following :
1) Changed the USB power settings of the OS. USB devices are not allowed to go to sleep
2) Changed the power setting from Seagate Manager to not allow the drive to go to sleep
3) Changed USB Legacy to Enabled on BIOS

How a machine Windows 7 or XP once goes to sleep/hibernate mode, can be identified on the network to do a Wake-On-LAN. Because the machine is shutdown, the ping does not give a response. In a DHCP environment, when the machine goes to sleep mode, the ip is released so not necessarily the machine can be identified with its IP.

I have Windows 7 (64 bit) on Samsung RV520 - it's a new laptop, I got it about 5 weeks ago. The problem is that after the computer wakes up from sleep mode, the Internet connection is lost and the Network and Sharing Center is not responding at all. Sometimes it does not detect any networks (neither the cable one nor the wifi connection), sometimes it recognizes them but gives "cannot connect" message, sometimes it says I'm connected, but nothing Internet-related works anyway. Either way, every time my laptop goes into sleep mode and I want to access Internet, I have to restart the system, and well.. this is rather annoying.
It's not about the Intenet provider, since on the roommate's laptop all the connections work perfectly fine.

From time to time Windows 7 will not go to sleep (only the display will turn off). I have searched various forums and tried the following fixes: I have already made sure that network adapters are not allowed to wake up the computer. I typed "POWERCFG -ENERGY" in the command prompt (as administrator) and an energy report was generated, which reported this error: System Availability Requests:System Required Request The service has made a request to prevent the system from automatically entering sleep.
Requesting Service Spooler Opening task manager, I see a process running called "splwow64.exe" -- is this the spooler preventing the computer from sleeping?

I have Win 7 RC Ultimate 64 bit for a while. Works great. The only problem so far is that it will not stay in "sleep" mode(not the hybernation). It goes there, the light on the box is blinking and after about 10 sec it wakes up. Can't figure out what wakes it up though. I dual boot on the same machine to Vista Home Prem 32 bit and it goes to sleep fine and stays there. So, I don't think it is hardware.

For the longest time I have had a problem with my custom build Windows 7 machine staying in Sleep Mode. I would set it and a little time forward and the machine would be started again. Today I was reading some additional suggestions. It said it may be a slide show. I don't have any slide shows set up but after some thinking I decided to turn off the Windows Personalization desktop theme that I had on my computer. I chose to have them rotate some beautiful desktop themes every 10 seconds. Once I turned off all but one of the themes, I have not had any additional problems with my computer staying in sleep mode. I like the various desktop background changing but I also like the ability to use sleep mode.

I have just purchased a Cyber Power Pure Sine Wave UPS and it is working great except for one exception. Whether or not I use the included software, after my computer wakes up from sleep mode, windows cannot communicate with the UPS.
With the included PowerPanel software, the PC still things the device is charging if I cut the power after sleep mode. Without the software, windows reports that the battery is plugged in, not charging.
Since the UPS is connected via USB, I have tried disabling "USB selective suspend" in power options, as well as unchecking "allow windows to put device to sleep" for all USB ports in device manager.

Just built this computer last week and I've had problems when the computer goes to sleep. When I press a key or move the mouse, the computer apparently wakes up but the monitor is still black and the PC speaker is gives off a three beep pattern. After a cold reboot, the system/win7 does not restart, but rather resumes the task I was doing prior to the sleeping mode. One more thing, does cold rebooting affect ssd's the same way as normal hd's?

I have noticed that my desktop will not enter sleep mode. Instead, the screen enter energy saving mode and the system continues to remain active for about 10 minutes before turning off. As long as my system does not enter sleep mode, it works just fine. According to the dump file, the issue is caused by ntoskrnl.exe and an errormessageDRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE.

I recently built my machine. It was working fine doing things in windows and out. I have an SSD now and liked how smoothly the computer would resume from the default sleep mode power settings that came with win7, so for the first time I've actually been using them on my desktop. However, since installing sp1, sleep no longer seems to work. When I woke up this morning and when i came home from work, the computer was not in sleep mode. Normally I expect to see the power button flashing, and in neither case it was. When I start the computer it asks me how i want to enter windows, just like it does normally if windows crashes. Everything else on my computer is working as expected.

I have tried searching online for solutions but to no avail. My laptop is just under 12 months old and other than the battery dying already I have never really had any problems until last week. Its a Dell Inspiron 1564, Intel I3 running windows 7 home premium. After my computer has been woken from sleep mode any window I open in full size no longer sits flush with the top of the monitor (its about a cm below top of screen), but my desktop background is still normal and reaching the top of the monitor and I can put my cursor up there. I have updated my video and BIOS drivers from the Dell website yesterday but that doesnt seem to have done anything. If I restart my computer it goes back to normal again until the next time it sleeps but I would really rather not have to turn my computer on and off 15 times a day?

This is now my third time with this problem, the first required me to restore to factory settings. These last two seem to have been triggered by a power flicker at my residence. The power momentarily flickered long enough for my computer to shut down. After booting the computer seems fine until approx 5-10 min later it will enter sleep mode no matter what I am actively doing on the pc. I fixed the second time with a restoration to two days before the incident. This time I restored to that same point and it still has the problem. Power settings are on high performance with sleep and hibernate set to never.

I have been using sleep mode for a while. Until recently, I had to re-install my OS due to some troubleshooting and hardware issues. Now my PC won't wake up from sleep mode with the new install. She goes to sleep, and when I try to wake her up, she powers on, for like 2 seconds and then shuts off. I have to turn on the power switch to get it to boot. My pc is not a generic brand pc. It's a custom built water cooled pc. I haven't noticed any new driver installs. I have performed a clean start up with no insight to what the issue could be. Event viewer only shows what I expected.
The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. - Event 41, Kernel Power Session "Microsoft Security Client OOBE" stipped due to the following error: 0xc000000D Event 3, Kernel-Event Tracing

On several occassions, my computer has gone into sleep mode and will not respond to waking requiring a hard shutdown and reboot. This introduces a host of registry errors and stops any astrophotography. I have looked into Event Viewer and all I get is the following entry:

I keep getting BSOD when I try to put my 5 year old HP Pavilion dv6000 laptop in sleep mode, by either tapping the power button, or going through the start menu. This started happening a couple days ago, after Windows did an update.
I've done a system file check and it came up clean, and I also updated my video drivers, but to no avail. I don't really know where to go from here.
