what is the typical number of processes that should be running in task manager on a typical standard version of Win 7 Home Premium, without any added programs? (Without IE being used)My Dad has a couple of year old HP Pavilion p6680t and it has about 62- 65 processes running before any browser is used. He also has Adobe Flash, Win Live Essentials, and MSE, along with a HP printer.

From a top of the line latest desktop setup to one that's 6 or 7 years old but is there an accepted "average" electrical power usage for the "common' home desktop PC? How would one estimate/check an individual desktop PC's energy use (ie. cost per hour or day if left on 24hrs) without having to purchase any expensive watt-o-meter type unit ?

Each time i enter a folder the green bar on the adress bar starts to run slowly like something is being indexed or read... the files all become (in use) so i cannot delete or edit them and of course all going slow , that is untill the process ends what is the proble and how i can fix that ?
I just got my computer back from my friend that was fixing my bad memory problem after geeksquad tried to bull**** me and I noticed I had alot of processes running and a bad ram usage. I just clean installed windows a week ago and only added like 3 programs (steam, G1 Live, and other needed stuff.)
When Im downloading a game my internet is slow as sh** and when Im browsing the web my 1000kbps comcast download speed on the game (which is already bad) drops down to 30kbps. Im guessing this is a ram/registry problem. Ive never cleaned the registry.

Does this seem "normal" for Windows 7, or should I be concerned that iexplore.exe is running even when I have not launched IE?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have two computers, one computer runs smoothly at a cpu level of around 10%, and has less RAM, hard drive space, and runs more cpu related tasks, it has a duel core 2.4, my other computer, however, runs at 100% all the time, no matter how many processes I kill in tskmgr.exe, it runs incredibly slow, it has a duel core 2.2. I've ran malwarebytes, CCleaner, registry cleaner, defrag, and it still runs at 100%, it didn't used to do this, it's happened for at least two months, but it keeps getting worse.

What I need to do to get my CPU running healthily. The highest process (CPU) Is Hamachi with 20%.
I have Windows 7, Premium Home Edition. When I typed Ctrl+Alt+Delete, I used to get the Task Manager. Tabs allowed me to select some options, one of which was "processes". Maybe I clicked something that changed things, but now I only get a list of running programs (NOT processes). And I don't have any tabs to select other options,How can I get the running processes list back?

View 3 Replies View RelatedSo I've just built a new computer with the new 2011 chipset and initially the computer would freeze without warning while I'm playing games through steam, since then I have reinstalled windows and now it freezes when playing video files and FileZilla. I have no idea what is going wrong with the computer as I have updated the drivers and tried checking the components individually. Temp readings are normal and used memtest and intel burn test to check the ram and CPU. I have used my old nvidia GeForce 8800gt graphics card instead of the new one but it still doesn't work. In the past, I had a dialup FAX modem, but now I'm on cable, and I never thought about FAXing until just now. My printer also has a FAX function, but the only driver available for it on Windows 7 is the one that Windows 7/Windows Update installs.In the Windows FAX/Scan program, the scanner works perfectly, but When I try to creat a new FAX, it says that I need a FAX modem. I have no idea of whether my cable modem is capable of that or not, but when I select to send a FAX, a window appears stating that I need a fax modem or server, but when I select to use a local modem, an error appears saying that I need to contact the administrator (me). From the interface, the only thing that appears to be for setting this up is the Tools>Options menu, but when I click on that, nothing happens.The first question is whether it is typical for a cable modem to be able to handle a FAX or not?

I can ping websites and get a reply, but Internet Explorer just hangs and I get Not Responding in Task Manager. I have ran Malwarebytes, AVG, and Microsoft Security Essentials. None of these show any viruses. I tried installing Microsoft Fix It, but it would not load. I get the same results if I boot in Safe Mode with Networking.
