My computer is set to not update automatically because once it updates, it won't allow access to internet (wireless or lan). I have to use a restore point to undo everything. My computer hasn't been updated for a year or more do to this problem. It can't find a problem when I run the help program and tells me to get on the internet to solve (won't let me do that in the first place)
View 2 RepliesOkay, so I got a new computer recently and it worked great on my campus' Wi-Fi network for about a week. Then all of a sudden the stability of my connection dropped down to nothing. For the past several days, I have barely been able to get on the Internet at all and my Wi-Fi signal can never make it above two bars. My roommates' computers and my own MacBook and iOS devices have no problems at all.This problem has been driving me crazy because the primary purpose of this new computer is multiplayer gaming, which of course is the one thing it CAN'T do is play online games. Can anyone think of any client-side reason why the Wi-Fi on a brand new computer would just spontaneously combust, or is this just something I need to talk about with the network administration on my campus?

Then I installed VMware 7. Now I cant use all USB drivers except 3 drivers. While connecting, It scanning "Searching Windows Update" then it shows the error "No driver found".

View 6 Replies View RelatedOn the right hand side of the taskbar I have the icons for battery life, volume, internet connection, etc. When I used to put the mouse over the internet connection it would show me who I was connected too (SSID) , signal quality, and speed.I began having some issues so I had to remove my Netgear connection and then reconnect.Ever since I did this all that shows up now when I put the mouse over it is now only says: Netgear and Internet access.How do I get the information back. View 7 Replies View RelatedA while back, after successfully downloading and installing some updates in the Windows Update, it prompted me to restart the computer to finish the update installation process. However, I continued to use the computer for quite some time before restarting it, and then when it tried to configure the updates on the start-up screen, it showed that it was not successful in doing so. In the past, I noticed that this would typically happen when I did not restart the computer immediately (or within a short time) after the updates finished and I got the prompt to restart. I would have to go to Windows Update and do it over again, and then upon immediate restart, it would always work properly. But this time, it did not, and I keep getting the 8000FFFF error message instead.
Also, now, every time I start the computer, it shows that it's "Preparing to configure Windows... Do not shut off computer" (presumably the updates that never got completely and correctly configured) in the start-up screen... gets to 35%..fails... shuts down (screen goes black)... restarts again... tries to configure again, fails again, shuts down and restarts again... tries to configure again, fails again, and finally it apparently gives up and says "reverting changes" and finally goes to the desktop.I've looked at the answers in several threads at the answers.microsoft.com forum that were started by people with similar problems, and also tried several of the Microsoft "FixIt" files on the Microsoft site, but none of them worked. I'm using Windows 7 Home Premium.

I have been trying for 2 and half days to figure out why my speed is slow, why i don't have a good signal, and/ or if I do have a bit of a signal to my luck, why my signal comes and goes. I don't have internet at home at the moment because I am trying to save up to go to school. I am picking up a public business signal from a block away (which I have asked for permission to use), but I only am receiving not much of a signal with the Netgear usb wireless adapter.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm also running Windows 7, 64 bit. I am unable to update or download any software from websites. I am however able to download torrents! I just ran avast and have run malwarebytes and AVG and all have reported and removed affected files. But I still have the same problem. For example, I try to download the new adobe flash from the adobe site, I then hit run when prompted. It then gets stuck at retrieving the file until the error appears: "Installation encountered errors Actionlist not found".
I try to update malwarebyes and receive: "An error has occurred. Please report this issue to our support team (include the content of all error message(s) and code(s) in your submission). PROGRAM_ERROR_UPDATING (0,0, Host not found).
I download it from their website and instantly "The ordinal 459 could not be located in the dynamic link library urlmon.dll." Google isn't turning anything up, I'd uninstall my current version and try that, but I'm afraid that it still won't work and then I'll be stuck without any Flash Player at all?I've run a registry cleaner already but didn't fix it.

anyway, after charging it up and turning it on, i started to install programmes and other bits and bobs. e.g ituens, flash player. just the usual essentials. i used the laptop to watch videos on Internet, genenral browing such as facebook, so in short, the internet was working fine. just before i went to bed that night i installed avg security (free version) and ran a full scan. when the scan finished, i put the laptop into hibernate, and went to sleep! happy in the knowledge my new gizmo was running smoothly!
just before i woke up i heard the laptop turn off as it had run out of charge. so i plugged it in and charged it up, then turned it on. this is where the problem starts...i connected via wifi however the logo at the bottom right of the screen showed the signal strength meter on empty, with a yellow star covering it. i clicked the icon, and it said, 'not connected, connections are available' and below shows im connected with 5/5 signal strength, but on 'limited access'.
1) there might be a problem with the driver for the local area connection adapter
2)there might be a problem with the driver for the wireless network connection adapter
there are 28 updates, but im unable to update them as i have no internet connection. i also cant connect via the ethernet cable.i cant roll back the drivers as there are no previously installed ones, and i cant update them as i am already up to date.my other laptop (acer aspire 5630 running on vista) works perfectly fine using wifi and the ethernet cable, so i honestly dont know whats wrong. after reading things on my acer about ways to fix the problem i came to the decision to restore the laptop to the time of my first installation which was adobe flash player (which i installed the day before.) i was unable to do a full factory reset as the only options available are to either restore to a backup, or re-install windows (which requires a disc, which i dont have). i also didnt configure a backup as i had only had the laptop a day!
This is a problem that has happened to me a couple of times. Everyone else has connections in my house, even Wifi. I was cleaning my computer and when I was finished, it wasn't working. The thing is I wasn't touching anything besides my front computer fans. What could be the problem? When I go to device manager, it doesn't even show my router. All it shows is some NVidia nForce which doesn't have to do anything with my connection. One thing I do notice is that there is an "unknown device", which I think is my router. I can't update or do anything else because I have no connection. I even reinstalled my computer which usually fixed it.
View 6 Replies View Relatedi have a dlink dir 615 wireless N router, a few wireless N network card and adapter,eg tp-link w821 wireless N adapter, and and asus wireless N card..my problem here is that i while using the dlink router,i can only have internet access for WPA/WPA2 TKIP and not WPA/WPA2 AES, both encryption has strong signal. Once I changed to AES encryption, i have no network access, never mind the internet.only when using TKIP that i am able to connect. and the speed is capped at 120mbps.

I was told I need to update my drivers but there's a problem, I have no Catalyst Control Center! When I try to install it, the program never shows up. It says it successfully installed but it when I search for it in my computer the install file comes up. I've went into Windows Device Manager and it says my drivers are up to date, but when I go to AMD"s website i see a newer version. But anyway, I updated my windows 7 Ultimate 64bit on December 14th. When I tried to reboot, it simply looped over and over until system repair came up. I've run it 19 times to date, and nothing. Luckily I have another windows 7 ultimate 64, and I created a repair disk on that to use. I tried the memory restore boot option, disable driver signing, diagnosed memory errors, etc. I tried to run an SFC Scannow, but it always says that there is a system repair that requires a reboot, please try again later. I managed to get all of my files off the computer, but still, I have nine different users on it, and it would be a pain in the ass to restore it.
