Feb 19, 2012I am unable to log in to my router. I am using the login of admin and password and it it not allowing me to log in. I have reset the router and it is still not working.

Oct 3, 2012Hey, I've recently reinstalled my Windows 7 Home Premium and I since my PC does not detect the router.I've tried using a SKY recovery disk, but that failed and nothing happened. Do I need to download a specific driver so the PC can detect the router?

Unable To Connect To Dlink Modem Router Using Windows 7 Pc
Dec 3, 2010I had an existing pc with windows xp home. I just purchased a new pc with windows 7 home. Why I connected the windows 7 pc to the internet using dlink router I was able to access the internet. On the next day though, when I tried to connect again, I was not able to access the internet. Here are the tasks that I have already carried out to check the connectivity.
1. The windows 7 computer has a valid IP address, which means that ARP is working fine and my router is dispensing the addresses correctly.
2. When I try to ping the modem-router, there is no reply. So I am not able to access router using ICMP.
3. My old windows xp pc is able to connect and browse the internet. The problem is only with my new windows 7 pc.
PC Unable To Identify Router / Network (wired) - DNS Server Address Ping Fails
Jul 9, 2012Last Friday my main desktop crashed (lost power to the machine) and on restarting the PC was unable to "identify" the network. By identify, I mean, when using "Network and Sharing Centre" on the basic network information page, the PC shows "Identifying" under "active networks" - no matter how long I leave the PC.

Model: Packard Bell Power x-30
Processor i7 870 @2.93GHz
RAM: 8GB
O/S: Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit)
Modem Router details
Netgear N300 Wireless Dual Band ADSL2+ Modem Router
The main desktop is connected to the modem router (via Ethernet). The modem router is showing no sign of any problems itself, all the dashboard lights look ok (i.e. power is on, port 1 shows the Ethernet connection in place, both wireless bands are lit, the DSL is lit and so is the internet). The household contains a number of laptops which continue to work ok wirelessly and/or wired through Ethernet. Even mobile phones are accessing the wi-fi ok.
The DNS Server address looks ok, as that is the address of the web page to the router. I cannot access that web page (address) via the main desktop, but I can from other devices ok. Having gone through Device Manager the Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller is showing as "working properly". I have tried pinging the DNS Server address, and that fail. I have gone through a system restore to a previous point (before the day of the crash) but that seems to have made no difference either.
I have attempted to set the IP addresses (for TCP/IPv4) directly
IP address 192.168.0.3
Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: 192.168.0.1
And therefore forced to set the DNS Server address too
Preferred DNS server: 192.68.0.1
But I don't know what to set for the alternate DNS Server, so left blank. This seems to step me forward, in that the device/network is now identified. However the internet access is still not work, as the "DNS Server is not responding".

Sep 25, 2011I have an ASUS N51Vf on which I just changed a defective hard drive with a new one, same size and specs as the old.After a clean windows 7 install all was working fine. I created a System Restore Point. No errors reported, restore point created.I then tried to restore all my data and settings with a back up I had on a external hard drive.This back up has been made with LaCie Genie Back up Assistant, a program with decent review online.After having finished to restore the back up, I was asked to restart windows, which I did. Windows restarted but then it failed to log in giving an error (which appears to be quite common googling it). A window pop up saying "Interactive logon process initialization has failed. Please consult the event log for more details."If you say ok the windows keeps appearing again and again.There was no way to access windows whatever mode (safe, normal and all the other boot option appearing when pressing f8) I choosed. Startup repair was as well ineffective (since there was no problem in the startup process itself.)
People online reported the only way to fix this was to check the event log files on another computer. So I installed Ubuntu on the unallocated space I left when installing win 7, I copied the logs files, I went through all the errors in the event viewer of another computer, particularly those in application.evtx, I copied safe version of winlogon.exe logonUI.exe and userInit.exe on windows/system32 through Ubuntu but nothing worked. Same error preventing log in.I then went into the System Restore Point nasty affair. As I previously mentioned, I created this point prior to restore the LaCie backup. The Restore point was there, accessible through the standard recovery options. What appears is this: standard final window of System Restore and I couldn't select any of this drive and proceed.So I go to the Command Prompt and I realize that windows has been installed on D:, not on C:, which appears to be the system reserved partition with 70Mb free. Something standard when you install Windows 7 apparently. Since my backup was made copying files from C: and I didn't care for the path when restoring my LaCie backup, I thought I messed up things attempting to copy to the wrong drive, even though no error was reported to me.So I formatted everything, reinstalled windows paying attention not to create other partitions. Clean install, all went through fine. I check on Computer what's the windows unit label, and it is C indeed. I didn't check for the presence of other partitions. I re-restore files from the LaCie Backup. At the end I try to create a new System Restore point, but a weird error tells me that I can't. Already suspicious, I restart, to find myself on the exact same position as before, unable to login, unable to restore (both same as previously described) and, moreover, checking through command prompt, win 7 appears to be in the D: unit again with the C: set up to be the system reserved!!

In simple terms the 2x Win 7 32bit PC's are for my children hence why I would like admin control of the computers. They will need a connection to the internet and share the same NAS. The Win 7 Ult X64 computer will also be connected to the NAS as well as the router for internet access.
All PC's and NAS to be connected with cable as opposed to wireless. whether this would be easy to set up? What cable would I need between the NAS and the PC's?
Need A Good Router For Given Use
Aug 18, 2011I'm on my third new router in 3 weeks. I'm using the Netgear wndr3400 right now, it seems to be pretty good but I've noticed my laptop disconnects randomly and reconnects quickly. Its not a major problem but when I'm reviewing my cameras motion recordings for the day through my network it starts to drop as low as 2mbps when I look at my Network device. I cannot find one that fully fits my needs. I've tried expensive routers and mid range but it seems like my old $50 router is all that continues to work. I keep getting routers that have the wireless drop out completely until I go reset it, or the NAT settings for the 360's will be moderate. I cannot fix the NAT for all 360's, just one (or havent found a way to fix it for all) If anyone knows of a good router that can handle this type of use please suggest one, I'm willing to spend some money if its going to work.

Can't Share A HDD Through A Router
Jan 25, 2012I recently purchased a new routeur, D-Link's DIR-825. I am quite happy with it's performance so far, the main reason I bought this model was that it has a USB port so that I could use a HDD as a network.I installed the "Shareport" utility provided by D-Link and yesterday I finally got around to plug my HDD into the routeur. Things went smoothly and I was able to "connect" to the drive from my home computer.I then turn on my laptop, which is my work computer, and tried to connect to the drive. Shareport told me that it was already connected and needed to be disconnected.I mean the whole idea behind me buying a routeur with a USB port was to have a hard drive that would serve as a network backup that could be accessed by both computers at any given time.Besides, if only one computer can be connected to it at a time that's not what I call sharing, the "Shareport" utility should have a different name then.Now is that inherent to this type of setup or is it simply a show of the software limited capabilities?

I can download at 350 mbps which is full speed.My wife connected to the other port on the same router can also download at 350 mbps at the same time. How can this be if the limit on the phone wire it capped at 3548 kbps? Seems if we both try to download at the same time, we each should not get faster speeds than 175. How can a router do this?If a router can do that.. and we know it can.. then why can't I get 700 mbps downloads when only I am downloading?
