I mean I would love to have one so i can use the browsers in them and for updating/online gaming. but at the same time I think that since I have dial up it would be a waste of money to buy something that SHOULD be used on a cable/satellite connection. I was wondering if I could get your opinion on the matter, cause I can't come up with an answer myself.

Here I've set its priority This how it looks after I've done making the 'QoS' for my pc/ports, not sure if its good. This is the window where I need help insert the right details to give the priority to my PC, the ports 7700~7800(range) are the ports for the game I play GunZ I found out those ports through Port Forward website. I just want to know if the QoS is right, or how can I make my whole PC with the highest priority and not just ports. Will disabling items help/harm my internet? And putting it in such order is better? or give the web client network higher priority? And also disabling all those items?
View 7 Replies View Related1x PC (Mine, and i'd like to the be the admin Win 7 Ultimate X64) with internet access via the router and connected to a NAS 2x PC's Win 7 32bit with internet access via the router and connected to a NAS 1x NAS to be shared by all 3 PC's 1x NAS 1x 4 port router
In simple terms the 2x Win 7 32bit PC's are for my children hence why I would like admin control of the computers. They will need a connection to the internet and share the same NAS. The Win 7 Ult X64 computer will also be connected to the NAS as well as the router for internet access.
All PC's and NAS to be connected with cable as opposed to wireless. whether this would be easy to set up? What cable would I need between the NAS and the PC's?
I'm on my third new router in 3 weeks. I'm using the Netgear wndr3400 right now, it seems to be pretty good but I've noticed my laptop disconnects randomly and reconnects quickly. Its not a major problem but when I'm reviewing my cameras motion recordings for the day through my network it starts to drop as low as 2mbps when I look at my Network device. I cannot find one that fully fits my needs. I've tried expensive routers and mid range but it seems like my old $50 router is all that continues to work. I keep getting routers that have the wireless drop out completely until I go reset it, or the NAT settings for the 360's will be moderate. I cannot fix the NAT for all 360's, just one (or havent found a way to fix it for all) If anyone knows of a good router that can handle this type of use please suggest one, I'm willing to spend some money if its going to work.

I want to connect this router to my Prime router (Linksys) to act like switch so i can connect it to my Set top box (via STB port) because linksys has not have STB port for IPtv The reason is that linksys sync @ 20Mbit and Huawei as Prime router syncs @ 8mbit!!!! Ive try to do it (diable dhcp, nat firewall), and Huawei act like switch. Ethernet ports 1 to 3 shares internet to other devices but from STB port my Set top box returns DHCP error.

The guys over at the Media Vault forum suggested I change my Linksys router for a Buffalo (WHR-HP-G54).
I got the thing today, but the software (router configuration wizard) won't run on Win 7 (Build 7000). Incompatible OS it says.

I recently purchased a new routeur, D-Link's DIR-825. I am quite happy with it's performance so far, the main reason I bought this model was that it has a USB port so that I could use a HDD as a network.I installed the "Shareport" utility provided by D-Link and yesterday I finally got around to plug my HDD into the routeur. Things went smoothly and I was able to "connect" to the drive from my home computer.I then turn on my laptop, which is my work computer, and tried to connect to the drive. Shareport told me that it was already connected and needed to be disconnected.I mean the whole idea behind me buying a routeur with a USB port was to have a hard drive that would serve as a network backup that could be accessed by both computers at any given time.Besides, if only one computer can be connected to it at a time that's not what I call sharing, the "Shareport" utility should have a different name then. Now is that inherent to this type of setup or is it simply a show of the software limited capabilities?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI ask because I have a 3548 kbps downstream DLS connection. I can download at 350 mbps which is full speed. My wife connected to the other port on the same router can also download at 350 mbps at the same time. How can this be if the limit on the phone wire it capped at 3548 kbps? Seems if we both try to download at the same time, we each should not get faster speeds than 175. How can a router do this?If a router can do that.. and we know it can.. then why can't I get 700 mbps downloads when only I am downloading? Why can't I double my speed just like my speed and my wife's speed amounts to doubling the speed anyway?

Last night the providers connection dropped so after finishing my work I didn't stand around to check if the internet will be back and closed it. This morning my girlfriend tried to unplug something and accidentally unplugged the router. Ever since that happened, this PC, running XP has no internet connection issues. Unfortunately, the Windows 7 PC cannot connect to the Internet. I tried disabling and enabling, it ahs a clear connection towards "Multiple networks", but from there to the "Internet" it does not connect. I also tried a diagnostics and a firewall deactivation but still no luck. My Netwpork meter gadgetr shows my Int. IP as 192.168.1.2 and my Ext. IP as NO CONNECTION.When I try to connect to the internet it appears that Mozilla finds the website but cannot conenct to it. At least that's what I think, since it is stuck on "Connecting" and not on "Looking up". Ipconfig does not work, it only shows the window for a brief second, then auto closes.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a new HP Pavillon g4 with Windows 7 Home Premium installed and connect to the internet via an external antenna to a hotspot nearby. I have tried ad-hoc setup, but my XP does not connect to the internet (the XP connects without problem when I insert the external antenna directly). Does anyone know if it is possible to share internet between Windows 7 and XP and how to go about it? I googled for hours and tried different setups, all failed. I have successfully installed the "Virtual Router Manager", it works well between Windows 7 computers or tablets, but not with XP.
