View 2 RepliesHas anybody heard anything new on Instant Boot for Windows 7?A mate of mine was telling me about it tonight as he has it on his ASRock Motherboard and it takes his PC about 4- 5 seconds to boot to the Desktop. Is the ability to boot in such a short time a part of the BIOS or is it a small program that you install?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a problem. FireFox on both my laptop and my stationary comp triggers a BSOD instantly when started.
The stationary runs Windows 7 Ultimate RTM 64-bit and the laptop Windows 7 Pro Retail 32-bit, both from MSDNAA.
BSOD: BAD_POOL_HEADER
Firefox version is 3.5.2 I think.
Atleast on the laptop FireFox runs fine on XP.
I have Reinstalled FireFox (not saving anything, clean version) to no avail.
Since it's the same exact Blue screen on both machines I'm ruling out any hardware-problem.
Yesterday everything worked flawlessly on both computers.
6 hours ago FireFox stopped working on my laptop.
It still worked on my stationary until 30 mins ago when I rebooted it and it started there too.
I've searched all harddrives on the laptop with Macbytes MalwareBytes, SpyBot Search & Destroy and Avast! anti-virus with no results.
My guess is that some update to FireFox/Windows 7 all of a sudden made
this happen, which only came into effect when I rebooted.
Anyone else have this? How could I solve it?
I noticed some slowdown immediately after startup on my laptop. I tried installing 3 OSes, all with the same results. After a couple of days, the computer will work for a couple of minutes, then DRASTIC SLOWDOWN that makes the computer unusuable. When I went to install each OS, even that was slow (I.E.) the install windows were slow to come up.. I suspect hard drive failure.

An ethernet suffices for now but soon i'll be traveling and I'll need the wireless.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI am working in an office and would like to know if there is some sort of instant messaging capability in Windows 7. We would like to be able to message other computers in our small (5 or 6 computer) network without having to get up and walk around or use a phone page (some people have headphones in). I seem to remember a feature in Windows 2000 that had some sort of messenger. Is this possible in Windows 7 or any good non-invasive program that would work? We don't really want to go the route of AIM.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am on Windows 7 Professional, 64 bit.i7 processor with 12 gb ram 10k rpm Sata 3 boot drive Graphic Designer using Photoshop and Illustrator, and a variety of other programs.I have used Memeo Backup Pro in the past for backing up my files INSTANTLY upon saving the file.... I liked that it did that. Not into waiting till the end of the day for a scheduled backup to run; I've lost too many files in the past due to corruption after working on them for an hour or less....I would lose a LOT of productivity if I got hosed after working on a complex Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop file if it crashed after working on it for even a half hour.I save often, and Memeo saves a backup to my predetermined destination drive instantly. HOWEVER.... Memeo is buggy as heck and it has screwed with programs and caused Windows 7 functionality problems....So... I am wanting to try another, similar backup program that might have better user reviews. Can you help? I tried a demo of Live Backups and it sucked... couldn't even get it to work after setting up the parameters ....
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am trying to update the BIOS of my 'ASrock Z68 Extreme4 Gen3' from v1.00 to v1.20. I am running Windows 7 64bit Ultimate. I got the BIOS file from: [URL]. It did not register the BIOS file I had put on my USB drive when going to my BIOS settings. There is an "Instant Flash" function in there. I have tried to make a bootable USB-drive to do it directly from DOS, but my drive can't be formatted as an MS-DOS boot drive. I have tried using HP DriveKey which seemed to work as intended, but it didn't work, the drive was still not recognized in bios. Do you think it's my drive? I don't have another drive with me right now to try it out. I know this is a not really a Windows 7 issue, but I couldn't find a proper category.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI just upgraded (via Customer Install) my Vista laptop to 64-bit Windows 7 HP.
Under Vista, I was able to set Power Options so that the computer would go to sleep/hibernate when I close the lid. That works in Windows 7.
However, I was also able to set the Power Options so that the laptop would wake up and restore Windows when I opened the lid. So far, I have been unable to set that behavior in Windows 7.

View 2 Replies View RelatedIs there any way to turn off scrolling with a laptop mouse? I have a new laptop and the dang scrolling is really irritating. View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a MEDION MD96850 Laptop. Ever since the battery died, I have been running the laptop on AC power. This has been fine for my work. However, since yesterday, the laptop just won't turn on. The power supply is on but the laptop won't start. I have tried 3 power adapters but it's the same result.
One of my hinges is damaged and I can see a wire inside - maybe this is the cause of the problem? I read that on some laptops there's some switch underneath the touchpad that does something but I don't have a clue.
Due to my stupidity, I delayed in backing up much of my work and now find myself desperate to access it again. I really don't want to lose all the work.
