Toshiba M400 RAID Utility Removal - Installer Unable To Detect HDD
Jan 13, 2011
I'm currently reformatting my Toshiba M400-S5032 to install Windows 7. Problem is that due to the PC coming with a RAID utility, the installer is unable to detect the HDD. How to get rid of the RAID?

When I activate the power management drivers,my laptop does not last 5 minutes, it goes into hibernation. But when drivers are disabled, I can run on battery for more than an hour. Where can I get drivers that work, because, as long as I run like this, i cant monitor battery energy level?

I have 2 unusual file folders at the root of my C: drive. The names of both are alphanumeric gibberish,like:af216ca03f1720edf1e7a15b650cbd63One of the items contained therein is identified as a "Windows Installer Patch. There are numerous subfolders labeled "1042" , "1043", et. seq. Both folders are locked and i can't access any of the content even with Administrator's priveleges. These certainly look like leftovers of some kind that should be discarded.

I have an ASROCK 890gx pro3 MB and GSkill Phoenix Pro 120 gb ssd. The BIOS screen shows the ssd. I have already installed a copy of Windows 7 to my samsung 2 tb HDD but also wanted it to be on the SSD as the primary boot option.I disconnected my HDD, changed the BIOS boot set up to AHCI and Windows installer would not show the ssd. Changed the boot set up to IDE and still no luck

2 days ago, I posted about how my BIOS can't even detect SSD anymore. So we concluded that my SSD was dead. After talking to OCZ tech support, the guy told me to change SATA configuration into ACHI and then my BIOS was able to detect SSD again.
So i thought that the problem was solved, but as soon as windows 7 logo shows up, blue screen pops up for like 0.5 sec, and then restarts the computer. I thought that SSD was working fine, BIOS could detect it, and the only problem is with windows 7 so I decided to put windows 7 disc in dvd drive to format and reinstall. But now, my windows 7 can't detect SSD.
What should I do? Why can't my windows 7 disc detect SSD when my BIOS can. And does this mean my SSD is still alive? [URL]

120GB OCZ SSD

I built this computer about 8 months ago.

I have come up against an issue with XP mode which loads XP SP3.The Toshiba drivers work under SP3. but the INSTALLER does not!!It will install on any XP2 machine, but not the XP3 Virtual machine withing XP Mode. How can I 'roll back' XP SP3 that Microsoft sold me with windows 7 to XP2 status - there is no UPGRADE folder or anything similar so must be an integrated build??I have loads of stuff painstaking loaded on the XPE now so dont really want to, nor am in confident in how to, do another Virtual machine with XP SP2 even if I knew where to get hold of a copy without spending more money.

this morning I clicked on an image online and ended up with the My Security Shield infection. I successfully went through the removal process as recommended by bleepingcomputer - but have been unable to complete the last step - deleting the HOSTS file. I just went to the cmd prompt and typed in del c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\HOSTS and was denied. What should I try next?

I can't get my computer to recognize my Micro SD adapter, which I have tried on other computer and worked properly, so I suppose the real trouble is my laptop. When I insert it, nothing happens at all, and just once I've pulled it out, a message pops saying it can't recognize the device (and this only happens sometimes). I have a Toshiba Satellite T135-SP2909R and my OS is Win 7 (not upgraded from Vista, it's always had it), I have already downloaded the driver from the Toshiba webpage and from other sites, but it won't work either. When I run it, it says Realtek Card Reader 6.1.7100.30101 (perhaps it's the wrong one?). Also, someone told me it could be the bios, but I really don't know what that means.

I recently took on repairing a friends computer, trying to remove multiple virusesUnfortunately I was unable to repair the os without a fresh install. I successfully wiped the hard drive with active@ killdisk, but now the dvd drive won't detect the windows 7 install disk. I did some more investigating and found that it reads cd's but not dvd's anymore. I tried making an iso image of the install disk and create a bootable flash drive with unetbootin and the bios detects the flash drive but when i choose to boot from it, the computer jumps to the next bootable device. I'm in a pickle, either I need to find a way to split Windows 7 into multiple cd's or any other way of installing without buying a new dvd tray for them.

Cloned the 2 hdds to the single using Norton Ghost. It works fine and the PC boots no problem - but only if the bios (Asus) is set to 'configure sata as RAID'. If I change to 'configure sata as IDE' it won't boot (bsod during windows loading screen).
The PC clearly thinks the new, single hdd is still a raid system - which presumably could cause problems when I upgrade the mobo. I have tried Windows 7 repair, fixmbr, fixboot, rebuild bcd... none of it makes any difference!

I recently embarked on the journey of building my first custom PC. Everything was going well, until I hit a speed bump of installing Windows 7 64 bit. So like usual I boot from the CD drive, and stick Windows 7 in. When it gets to the point where I'm going to install, it is unable to find my SATA drive to install Windows 7 on.
It then asks me to "locate drivers." So it gives me an option to browse, and when it does so I put in the disk that came with my mobo, but it's unable to find any drivers. I tried downloading drivers from my motherboard's web site, sticking them on an external HD, and locating them from there, but that still didn't work.
I checked in my BIOS, and my SATA type is under Native IDE. I tried switching it to AHCI, and my HD was no longer detected in the BIOS, switched back to Native IDE and it found it again. Also, Onchip IDE Channel is set to Disabled, and Onchip SATA Control is set to Enabled, does this matter any?
I was wondering, though, is it possible that if I set the SATA type to AHCI, move the SATA cables into ports so that the drive is recognized by my BIOS, use the AHCI drivers I downloaded, Windows 7 will detect it?

I have ASUS tablet with Windows 7. I use USB to VGA converter to connect to VGA projector. It used to work until June 4 at 5:30PM PST, when it stopped working during presentation. Before that it worked for 4 months. Looking at control panel adjusting external display if I select duplicate to projector I only get my computer display. It says it does not detect external display.

I have just installed Windows 7 onto my Dell Inspiron 6400 laptop. My laptop now detects a number of wireless networks in the vicinity but not my own. It is not a problem with my router because other laptops can pick up the connection no problem. I have Googled this problem and see a lot on issues with Windows 7 and picking up wireless signals. But I haven't seen any threads which deal specifically with the situation where only one wireless network cannot be detected.

I am currently attempting to install Windows 7 on an SSD RAID Array, and I have encountered several issues (this has been a one step forward, two steps backward affair). The issue that I am currently facing is the fact that I am unable to load RAID drivers during the OS installation. As is normal for this kind of installation I choose "Custom" and I cannot see any drives listed, this is the point at which I click on "Load Drivers" and then I select "Browse". My challenge is that regardless of how I "insert the drivers", which is to say whether I put them on a separate USB drive (FAT32 partitioned), or take the Windows 7 installation DVD out and insert a CD with drivers - I simply cannot navigate to the drivers.Because I am unable to load the RAID drivers I simply cannot proceed with the OS installation.*** Note ****As of writing this I came across a program called RT Seven Lite, which has allowed me to create a "slip streamed" Windows 7 installation - using the program I was able to integrate the troublesome drivers into the Windows 7 installation disk.

Windows doesnt see the array when loaded up and i have the latest rst drivers installed..did this prior to the os install on the ssd. using the x58 e760a1 mobo. under device manager, the raid controller has an exclamation mark and no driver installed yet i have the latest rst 10.8.0.1003 installed..
