I can't get my computer to recognize my Micro SD adapter, which I have tried on other computer and worked properly, so I suppose the real trouble is my laptop. When I insert it, nothing happens at all, and just once I've pulled it out, a message pops saying it can't recognize the device (and this only happens sometimes). I have a Toshiba Satellite T135-SP2909R and my OS is Win 7 (not upgraded from Vista, it's always had it), I have already downloaded the driver from the Toshiba webpage and from other sites, but it won't work either. When I run it, it says Realtek Card Reader 6.1.7100.30101 (perhaps it's the wrong one?). Also, someone told me it could be the bios, but I really don't know what that means.

I have an Acer S3 Ultrabook that I have had for over a year now. i backed it up as soon as I got it using the Acer Backup Manager to an external usb drive its a 1tb drive that I keep multiple computer backups on. Now I usually use Acronis to back up my systems because it is simple to use.Anyway, Thursday of last week I found i was unable to boot windows and the startup repair wasnt working either, which was followed by a blue screen. no problem I thought. I plugged in the external drive to the usb port, then attatched the usb dvdrw, inserted the acronis recovery disc then went through the process of recovering my hd. once the pc rebooted I realized my mistake. I had used the wrong image to recover my disc. I also remembered too late that I had indeed used Acer back up manager and NOT acronis to back up the acer hd originally.
I now had a glitchy windows 7 OS working but no Acer Back up manager to recover the files. Also the OS I had on my Acer now, wasnt working and kept crashing. by now it was 2am and I was very tired but I wanted to get this sorted. So in desperation I took a windows 7 home premium disc and decided to install a fresh copy of windows.Things went from bad to worse, I somehow managed to format the wrong drive wiping the ssd that I believe holds the start up files, again once i realized it was too late. so I went ahead and installed the fresh copy of windows on my C drive successfully. At 4am I finally had a working ultrabook again, although the files that should have been on the ssd drive were now all together on the cdrive.
1. What files or programs should be on the SSD?
2. If I found someone who had a back up image of both drives would they work on my PC?
3. Does anyone have a backup image of both the SSD and HD for the Acer Aspire S3 951?
4. Does using the SSD make any real difference?

I'm planning on buying an Asus Zenbook UX32VD soon and it comes with a standard 7200 rpm drive instead of an SSD. So because of that i want to upgrade it to an SSD drive. But I also want to have the same windows thats installed moved over to the new drive. The drives i've looked at all have data migration tools and one comes with norton ghost but i've never had to do something like this before where i didn't have an optical drive and a windows disk for a reinstall so i'm looking for some help here before i order everything and then do something stupid.i don't mind if i have to lose whatever settings and data i might have setup already, but i just want to make sure i have the same windows and the additions it comes with moved over to the new SSD drive.

I have just recently decided to upgrade all my pc's at home to Windows 7 Home Premium. I have purchased a Windows Home 7 Premium Family pack that allows 3 installations on the one license. I have tried installing it on my pc running a legal copy of Windows XP Media Centre Edition and it cannot detect my hdd.The PC itself is an Acer Aspire E500. I believe the motherboard running it is an ECS RC410-Mr (V1.0), has a Seagate Barracuda 250gb Sata Hdd and everything else is pretty much standard. So here's what is happening. I have put the installation disk into the DVd-rom and booted up my pc. It loads all of the default files etc and goes into the standard process to select the install location. It doesn't detect a hdd. So I figure at this point that i must have to load drivers for any on-board sata raid or something. Weird thing is i don't remember it having this option. I have looked into the bios to find if there is any low level Raid settings and there is no mention of it.I have gone onto the ECS website to find drivers for such a thing and they do exist. I have put them onto a thumb drive and re-ran the installation. It detects the driver, I click load and it says it is not compatible. I have tried multiple sources of this driver and none of them work.
I have heard stories about having to do a bios update but I worry about this on 2 levels 1) the pc works fine and I dont want to risk killing it, 2) the bios updates dont say anything about a fix for Windows 7 or the raid controller.Am I going about this the right way or is there something I have overlooked?

I have posted in other forums with no luck.I bought a Samsung SH-D162D DVD Drive in a USB enclosure to connect to my Toshiba laptop via USB.I cannot get windows 7 to find it! When I plug in the USB cable the balloon comes up to say it has been installed (sometimes), I can see it on for about 1 or 2 minutes then it drops off. It isnt listed in my hardware or anything. Its not found in Disk Management or My Devices so it isnt a case of changing the drive letter - i cant find the drive to change it.I have also tried to find the upper and lower settings in regedit....couldnt find them so couldnt delete them as advised in other posts of this nature. It is set to master, the IDE connector and power connectors are fine. Its gotta be a windows 7 problem cause it does show up very breifly. In the minute or 2 its there I cant do anything with it...it just hangs although it will open and close. Ive googled it and cant find anything.Ive also connected it up to another laptop with XP and had no problems so I know the DVD Rom works fine and all the cables are ok.Ive tried in all 4 USB ports on my laptop and also turned off all energy settings...all with no luck. And I also have EVERY windows 7 update.
Heres exactly what happens from power off on the enclosure.
1 - I plug in the USB lead then turn on power to the enclosure.
2 - I quickly go to Start, and I can see the DVD Rom drive E next to my laptops dvd rom.
3 - The green bar at the top starts filling up from left to right and gets about half way then suddenly the DVD Rom icon disappears and so does the green bar.
4 - It then flashes up under the laptops DVD Rom icon with a Local Disk drive E but only for a split second.
5 - Sometimes a balloon comes up saying installing device, then device successfully installed...but not every time.

I am open to reinstalling windows to get everything working correctly, but I first wanted to see if there was anyway to resolve the follwoing problem without the reinstall. The problem is this: I had a CPU that went toast was RMAed and the CPU sent back from the RMA was toast as well, so I bought a new CPU that I know works with all the rest of my hardware. With the new CPU installed odd slowness was experienced and more CPU activity than normall was seen. Games that I knew would run on this system just fine slowed down to an almost unbareable halt. So I went hunting and discovered this:Windows has no idea what sort of CPU I am using and therefor is running it at quarter speed (it is an AMD Phenom II Quad core 3.3 GHz processor). My question then is this: Is there some way to make windows recognize the CPU? I am trying to track down a BIOS update but the stupid 16-bit flashing tool that does not work with 64-bit windows won't let me upgrade and there is no inside the BIOS flashing ablity.
P.S. The motherboard is Jetway's HA04 790FX AM2+. The system has to be restared on each power up due to what I belive is the motherboad initializing the wrong memory controller on power up the first time (I got this idea off of the POST code thrown when the system hangs on first start up)

I'm having some problems with my win7 installation.
As mentioned in the title the main installation will not detect the SSD and is asking for drivers, however, it is detected in diskpart.
The SSD is detected in BIOS, by ubuntu setup, linux mint setup, win7 setup's diskpart. I've ran the diskpart cleaning and reformatting and just cleaning to no avail.
The SSD works perfectly fine and I previously installed Linux Mint on it since win7 setup would not detect it besides in diskpart. I've tried adding the SATA drivers to the installation but that doesn't give me any result either, everywhere I check it's either "do the diskpart thing" or "drive's broken".
Setup:
Asus Sabertooth Z77
i5-2500k
Patriot Pyro SE 250GB

For the past few weeks I have been having problems with my HP laptop.
For starters my laptop will not restart. I try to restart it and it shuts down, but won't reboot all of the way. It gets stuck on the black screen you get just before the HP sceens comes up. So I have to press the power button ( after which I do, I get a loud POP sound before the computer shuts off ) and then turn it on again myself. Also, if my computer goes in to sleep mode due to inactivity, it will not wake up. I have to press the power button to turn it off, and then start it up again.
After this happens, my laptop cannot detect any networks. I have to unplug the charger, and then I have to take out the battery and put it back in before it detects networks.
I took it to best buy ( where I bought the computer and have a warranty at ) and they did a diagnostic test and determined that I had several viruses causing the problems. After paying 200 bucks they ''fixed'' my computer and I brought it home, only to have the same exact problems I was having before.

I'm new here because I've been searching everywhere and I can't find an answerRecently, I bought and downloaded The Sims 3 Supernatural, because I'm a huge fan and have all the games. Well, after I played the first time, and shut it off, my screen resolution went really big, so I adjusted that, then I noticed that my computer has been very laggy, and it recently told me it doesn't support 'Aero effects' So, I assumed it was the game, and uninstalled it. Then I re installed it, and now it is telling me that it doesn't have a graphics card to support it. I am not very intelligent when it comes to computers, and I have no idea what to do

I'm using a Sager 3790 notebook with 2 GB of memory, a Centrino 1.7 Ghz and a Mobility Radeon 9700.Installation went perfectly. The card was detected by Windows Update and drivers were isntalled for it. They're from December 2008. Okay, that's fine and dandy. As soon as the drivers install the highest resolution available on the primary display is 640x480. Why? Because Windows won't/can't detect my primary monitor. It shows up as an "Unknown display device."I can attach an external monitor and adjust its resolution all day. I can also remote into the laptop and that works fine.I am nearly 100% confident that I cannot change the display resolution because the monitor won't detect correctly. I can't manually force an install of a monitor or change the "Unknown display device" driver because that section is grayed out in the "Advanced Settings" under the Display Resolution tab.
