When I open it, the screen stays off.The only way to fix it from here is to either turn it off or to put it in sleep mode (with my designated button). Everything still works, its just that the screen doesn't turn on.

This issue is sporatic. Sometimes the PC shuts down completely, other times it does as described above. This issue started ocurring AFTER I installed a Crucail M4 SSD with a clean Windows 7 install. No other hardware changes.
Research lead me to changing the IEEE Power Managment to "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power." This solution did not work for me.

There was no disk activity. I turned off and rebooted again several times with the Windows Repair disk in the DVD drive. I was able to run the startup test but it said it couldn't repair it. The log said the the fault was caused by a critical update. I went into System Restore, but I am unsure of the options. It showed a screen with all my partitions already ticked, including the Windows boot partition which was greyed out. Am I supposed to leave all the partitions ticked, or if I don't, will I then lose those partitions?

Soon as I plugged it in, my Win 7 (64) machine instantly identified it and installed the driver. Only problem is, the adapter remains disabled. I try to enable it, but it instantly disables itself when I do.
I could not find any clues in the System event log.
It's actually an rtl8187 chip by realtek. I tried installing drivers from the manufacturer (from the CD and from the internet) but windows insists that the microsoft driver it installed on detection is the most up-to-date driver and it ignores mfr driver. I tried installing a "legacy device" and I manually chose the mfr driver, but it does not work (and still has the microsoft driven device listed in device manager).
I tried this unit on another PC (also running windows 7 64bit) and it worked flawlessly. But on the two machines which really need the device, they both cannot enable the device once installed.
I am using windows 8. My Intel wifi utility software doesn't found my network adaptor. But other than that the wifi just working fine. When I used windows 7 I didn't had this problem.

View 1 Replies View RelatedW7 will start up, load files, and then stay at a black screen with a mouse. I think that the hard drive may have gone bad, and when I did a memory diagnosis, I have found that there is bad memory with my main hard drive. I do not have the original disk, nor can I access any of the files. I tried system Recovery, but it would not list W7 as an option. If someone knows where I could find those drivers to load onto a disk, that would be great. My computer is a Dell Studio 1535.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have installed the latest drivers, reinstalled the program, and all that jazz and the problem still persists. Pretty much when I minimize or exit from a game I play called EVE Online, my LCD remains really dark. Kind of as if someone turned down the brightness really low on the LCD. I've figured out 2 workarounds but they aren't fixes.
I simply log out and log back in and the display brightens to its usual brilliance or I hit Ctrl+Alt+Del and it has the same effect. But once I maximize the game and minimize again the screen darkens once more. Oh and in-game everything is perfect, it's only once I go to the desktop. Any ideas? I personally think its a something wrong with the refresh rate but I ahve no clue as to how to fix that.
I have attached my DxDiag results.
I am going to preface this by saying that this has *nothing* to do with restoring from sleep or hibernate modes. In searching for an answer to this issue, I found way too much related to that.
My problem is simple. Occasionally (~50% of the time) when I turn the monitor back on after shutting it off, it will stay blank and not really turn back on. It makes no difference how long the monitor has been off. After turning it back on, the power light is green, indicating there is a signal, but the screen is black.
Again, the computer has not slept or hibernated. I simply shut off the monitor and later come back to turn it on. The same thing will happen occasionally if Windows shuts the monitor off after the configured time. (I did that last part as a test; I typically do not automatically shut it off.)
Specs:
OS: Windows 7 64-bit
CPU: Intel Core i7 860
MB: Asus P7P55D
Memory: 8GB - Corsair CMX6GX3M2A1600C9 (2 x 2 x 2GB)
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS 640MB
Monitor: Chimei CMV 221D
NVIDIA Drivers: 8.17.11.9562 (11/20/2009)
I originally thought it was the OS that was hung. However, I was able to go into the start menu and restart ("Start" -> "Right" -> "Right" -> "R"), so I know the OS was there responding to my commands.
Attempts to fix:
- Restart the computer. This worked.
- Shut off the power to the monitor and turn it back on. This works most of the time.
- Lock and unlock Windows. This works after a few tries.
- Hit CTRL-ALT-DEL followed by ESC. This works after a few tries.
So, I have a fairly simple work around now. So this is only a minor annoyance. Hitting CTRL-ALT-DEL then ESC does seem to work. I don't think it is a placebo because I waited 5 minutes and it did not come back, but after 2 cycles of that, it came back. I think that fixes it because it causes full screen refreshes.
Does anyone have any ideas or has anyone seen this before? The drivers are recent, but I noticed this with the clean-install Windows 7 drivers for this card as well. This is a very clean and very recent install (3 days). I never had this problem with Vista 32-bit, the same graphics card, recent drivers, but different CPU/motherboard/memory.
I have 16gb of memory and it's a second generation i7 2600K computer. I ran dskchk /r and disabled windows search. I have a anti-virus/malware. I've cleaned the reg. The doughnut looking cursor just spins for at least 30 seconds on every thing I do.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've just installed a wireless PCI adaptor (Tenda W322P 11N) in my desktop PC but I can't 'enable' it - every time I double click it starts to enable then stops and leaves it disabled with no warning or error messages.
The system is definitely seeing it as it's listed in Device Manager, and if I bring up Network Connections (using ncpa.cpl) it's listed and shown as disabled. Why would windows stop it from being enabled??
I've tried downloading new drivers from the manufacturers site in case the drivers on the disk were old - no difference. I uninstalled it and removed the drivers and then re-booted so windows would use it's own drivers - no difference.
Infected with the Adobe flash player update/windows system32 services trojan. After failing to fix it myself i passed it onto a so called expert. View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a playsation controller adaptor which will not connect properly with windows 7.I can see that this is a fairly common problem as there are quite a few threads on other forums about this particular issue. Unfortunately having read through all of them the solutions offered (and seemingly successful for adaptors of other makes) do not work for me.A little history: worked perfectly on the machine I am using before upgrading from XP to 7. I didn't have to install specific drivers as the drivers XP provided were sufficient.Symptoms: pad/Controller is not recognised in "game controller settings" (joy.cpl found in system32 folder) which on XP allowed me to configure the pad. (There is no pad showing in the window under controller) The controller does show up in the control Panel's "devices and printers" but as "HID-compliant game controller" (it also doesn't show in the device manager under "sound, video and game controllers" only in the Human interface devices tree) The pad is therefore not recognised by, amongst others, pro evolution 11.
Checks: I know the hardware I have works as I have a clever little piece of software called joytokey which substitutes buttons pressed on the pad for keys on my keyboard. Indeed I have typed this entire post using the offending pad. (I haven't really but the point is that I could have done showing that the controller is recognised to a degree and working). Why don't you just use the joytokey software to play pro evo? I hear you ask. I do, however as good as that software is it can't mimic the two joysticks on the PS2 pad which limits the functionality I have in that game. (Like going to war and only being able to use a pistol)
The most damning piece of evidence I have to prove that the hardware works fully is that I have microsoft's very own flight simulator X and without the trickery of joytokey or any type of manual configuring I am able to control the vehicles using my playstion 2 pads. (For those of you who have never played the game, everything important is controlled using the two joysticks on the ps2 pad). Just get an Xbox controller they are not that expensive, in fact in the time it has taken you to create this thread you could have earned enough for a few of them! My, you're a talkative fella. I could buy one but I really prefer the layout and feel of the PS2 pads.
So there we have it. The pad and adaptor work perfectly but only on games that don't require Windows 7 to see the pad in the game controller settings.I have tried the closest thing I could find to the manufacturers driver and one I found at another forum, [URL] neither worked properly for my particular adaptor. (Pad still did not show up in joy.cpl and also caused the pad to vibrate uncontrollably and most functionality stopped in games I tested it in)all I need is the driver windows developed for windows XP but if this is microsofts way of forcing people to buy and use one of their XBox controllers then I'll have to admit defeat.

Trying to install a Belkin Wireless or Retail Plus+ N USB Adapter, which the microsoft page says is compatible with Windows 7 (for the Belkin) and receiving an error basically saying the driver is not compatible with this operating system.
This is a brand new computer that came with Windows 7 installed and has 0 internet access right now....what can you suggest?
Also, I do have a wired internet access point in my house I can move it to, if there is something I need to download I can probably do this.
It's been hours, and I feel like I may have to take the whole thing back.
I would prefer to use the Retail Plus+ USB adapter for this system if given the choice, since the Belkin is in use on another computer in the house, but I'll take whatever is out there.
